Excellent
GGuest UserGood location, metro very near, loads of eating places right at door, and easy walk to some tourist areas: french concession, Tianzifang. For bund, it's either metro + walk, or bus + walk. Limited common areas: main area upstairs AC, and small downstairs area also used to store luggage,  outdoor at front would benefit from more chairs (fairly calm street). dorm beds (comfortable and solid) with curtain, light , international power outlet , aircon , locker safe for each bed; no window in my 8,  bed dorm large modern toilets/shower along corridor the promo picture shows plants at entry - they are all gone. People fairly much keep to themselves (china, traveller phone-fixation). hostel can run a lot better with standard procedures/info, and some key signs in english; e.g. common areas, laundry, breakfast (just had a sign waved at me without time to read details - don't know where to locate if I want to buy).  In fairness, at checkout, a staff member asked me how my stay was, and any comments (i had decided to move to another hostel for different location, and variety — but the second hostel really wasn't as good location as this one)

GGuest UserIt's rare for a place to get 5 stars from me, but this one truly exceeded my expectations and deserves full marks. As a hostel, the price is very affordable. Of course, I've stayed in cheaper places, but what really impressed me here was the cleanliness. After checking in, you have to change into slippers before entering the room, which I really appreciate (though I did wonder what would happen if someone had smelly feet!). Besides the en-suite bathroom in the room, there are also several shared shower rooms and toilets outside, which is perfect for someone like me who comes back late and doesn't want to disturb others. They're not cramped, and there's space to put your toiletries, which is very convenient. The room uses a password to open the door, which is a bit of a hassle. If you don't have your phone, it's impossible to remember. The lockers in the room also have self-set passwords, which isn't particularly convenient; I saw two people struggling, repeatedly trying to open their lockers after forgetting their passwords or setting them incorrectly. You have to put on the bedsheets and duvet cover yourself – clean, but a bit of a bother, depending on how you see it. There are cabinets above the bed, which are handy for storing things. There's a washing machine and a common lounge area, but I didn't use either. Overall, during the dozen-plus hours I stayed, my impression was very good (my roommates were quiet, which was a bonus!).

LLuanpaodeyouyuThis was the most pleasant surprise on my solo trip. The bunks were spacious, and the lockers provided peace of mind. The common areas were cozy, with bookshelves filled with travel journals. My roommates were all friendly and quiet, never disturbing anyone. The location is great, close to shopping and attractions, making it super convenient for getting around and finding food. It didn't feel like a sterile, impersonal accommodation; the small, thoughtful details made my journey feel more like coming home. I genuinely recommend it for solo travelers.

Good
GGuest UserIt was just okay, not really great value for money. It's fine if you're just sightseeing, but if you're a girl traveling alone, I'd probably look elsewhere. Let's start with the pros: 1. **Great Service**: The front desk is staffed 24/7, and it feels pretty safe for being in a residential area. 2. **Convenient Amenities**: They sell instant noodles and such inside, at the same price as outside. Plus, there are lots of bars downstairs, so the nightlife is quite lively. 3. **Privacy & Cleanliness**: In the single rooms, once you pull the curtain, you barely see your roommate. The toilet and shower were both quite clean. Now for the cons: 1. **Inconvenient Location**: Although they say it's close to the subway station, it's actually a good 10-15 minute walk from the exit to the guesthouse. The pedestrian overpass to the subway exit only has an escalator going up. When going *from* the hotel *to* the subway, the overpass only has stairs. If you have luggage, you'll be constantly climbing, which is incredibly tiring. 2. **Safety Concerns**: Walking along the street, there are many people who have had too much to drink at the roadside bars. As a girl alone at night, it didn't feel very safe. 3. **Charging Issues**: The charging ports near the bed aren't standard outlets, so charging is quite slow. You have to go down to the front desk area to use their power strip.

GGuest UserThe room decor was incredibly thoughtful, vintage yet cozy. The cleanliness was impeccable; the floors and room were spotless and odor-free, which is truly a rare find in Shanghai. The common areas were also very comfortable, especially the dining table area which had a fantastic ambiance – it felt great just sitting and relaxing there. 🛋️ The owner was very kind, communication was smooth, and their recommendations were super helpful. Overall, for a short stay in Shanghai, this place was both quiet and unique, offering incredible value for money. I'll definitely choose it again next time!

SShuaiqixiaojingbaIt was a rainy day, and staying here was very convenient. You could embrace the misty morning drizzle, grab a small umbrella from the front desk, and wander into the alleyways of downtown Shanghai to experience the authentic, charming, and exquisite streetscapes and cultural atmosphere. Isn't that just wonderful?

GGuest UserThe room was great, very spacious. There's a laundry room on the fifth floor, and it's reassuring that deliveries and food orders are handled separately. The cleaning staff came every day, and they were very quiet when entering. Highly recommend!

GGuest UserExcept for the smaller room, the air conditioning, bathroom, and services are all very good. The main reason is that the price is affordable. There are not many cheap places like this in Shanghai.
