"We stayed here at the Vila Baleira Residence at the end of March 2026. Our Deluxe room was much smaller than we expected, they looked larger in the pictures on the Jet2 website. But it was all very clean, however there was a constant unpleasant smell coming from bathroom, again but very clean otherwise. Also one of the relaxing chairs on the balcony was broken and the cords were tied. As with the previous review the cutlery and utensils in the kitchen were sparse and there were only 4 hangers in the wardrobe and no other storage space for clothes i.e draws. We had to leave some clothes in our suitcases on the floor. We had a problem with the safe, we couldn't open it, but a helpful fella from Reception sorted it out for us. The breakfast choice was limited but fresh and plentiful. The breakfast waitress Paula was lovely, very attentive and efficient. We really missed her on her days off as the male waiter wasn't as efficient. It was a 2mile walk to the Town, it is quite hilly so we would have a Bolt back to the Hotel after a meal and glass of wine which cost just under 5 euros. There is a Lido close by with natural sea pools and sun loungers and umbrellas available to hire for 15 euros per day. We loved Madeira and will go back one day."

"Once again another superb stay. The food in Avista (half board here) was even better than usual and I told the chef! How superb are these rooms with their beautiful bathrooms? We had a suite on the first floor again with the huge balcony. We have also stayed in a duplex suite but prefer the suites on one level. Both suites are stunning. The staff are second to none and gave us the most wonderful time. Huge thanks to all the staff, particularly Katcha (spelling?!), Juan, Vitor, Sandra and Manuel….there are more but I have to stop somewhere! The only downside is ‘Mr Grumpy’ at the pool who seems to do a lot of nothing and needs to smile. I was surprised he’s still there! See you next year! :-D"

"My stay at this hotel was truly exceptional. The lady at reception was very helpful, easy to talk to, and explained everything clearly from the moment I arrived. The room was amazing, with a beautiful view that made the experience even more special. All the staff were excellent and friendly. The two girls working at the bar in the afternoon were wonderful — unfortunately I forgot their names, but one of them was Venezuelan. They were both very welcoming and professional. The breakfast team was always respectful and ready to help. One lovely lady was so thoughtful that she prepared my outdoor table setup in the morning before I had even picked my food. The gentleman who seemed to be the manager handled the staff and operations very smoothly — you could really feel how organized and professional everything was. I also noticed the lady who I believe is the GM. She looked incredibly hardworking, present during the afternoon, evening, and morning, always supporting her team. I even saw her celebrating staff birthdays with them. This is exactly how true leadership should be. Anyone looking for real hospitality should visit this hotel. As a Hospitality GM myself, I can confidently say this is an approved place to enjoy a wonderful experience with your loved ones. Thank you to the entire team for such a memorable stay.Keep it up"
