"We booked a 3-star hotel and pretty much got what we expected. The breakfast buffet was plentiful, but since two Dorisol hotels share the same dining area, it felt more like a step up from a youth hostel. 7:30 AM for breakfast is too late for hikers. The staff, however, were generally very friendly and accommodating. The 120 steps up to reception were a bit of a trek. You have to reserve for the indoor pool (!), but the pool itself is too shallow for swimming, the massage jets were broken, and the hot tub was cold and barely bubbling – completely forgettable. The room was dated, with mold in the shower corners of the bathroom, but the beds were good. We booked an ocean view, and from our 8th-floor room, it was more of a 'tree-view' – you could glimpse the sea past a tree, which felt like a rip-off. About 30 meters behind the hotel, there's a private house with 12 dogs that start barking from 6 AM. Very, very annoying. The fridge didn't close properly due to ice build-up, causing water to pool in the room, which I fixed myself. Conclusion: not recommended."

"A very simple, modest and old hotel that has been in need of repair and replacement of equipment for a long time. The rooms facing the street do not have balconies and cars with goods for the store are unloaded early in the morning under the windows of the hotel. The rooms facing the courtyard have balconies, but this is the sunny side (and there are no air conditioners in the windows) and there is a constant hum of ventilation. A very, very simple breakfast and bad coffee."

"Everything was fantastic, hotel location, services and design of the hotel. I enjoyed the 2 nights there. Unfortunately the welcoming was not good for me as I waited for 3 hours and 20 minutes. Yes I came early before the check in time which is 2 Pm and I came at 11:50 and the front deck staff ( Eduard ) confirm to me that my room will be ready at 2 pm but till 3:10 pm only I got to my room after I esclate my issue to the front deck manager ( Peter ), the problem was not about the time I lost, but the attitude of front deck staff as he is looking to my face multiple times and he didn’t come to say sorry that your room not yet ready just to apologizing…"

"When I stopped by to leave my luggage before check-in, they told me my room was ready and I could go in. The rooftop pool was very comfortable, with sunbeds available, so I could relax by swimming, sunbathing, and enjoying a drink from the bar. The staff were also very friendly and I was very satisfied. The location was also great, close to the cathedral. I would recommend it without hesitation."

"Back to hotel Windsor for the 10th time. And there were som great changes. The breakfast room have had a much needed renovation, and is now at great room with a nice atmosphere and nice breakfast. The lobby is now also brought up to a very nice standard. The staff at hotel Windsor were allmost the same as the years before. Very nice, helpful, friendly and professional at all times. The hotel is situated at the best place in Funchal. Within walking distance of all attractions, activities, restaurants and bars. The hotel is also close to busstops and the bus terminal to the rest of the island. Anything missing? the hotel is build without balconys and the wiew is to the neigbours, so you have to go to the top of the building where the swimming pool and the pool bar is situated. There is also a great wiew over the city and the mountains. So one star up from last time. You are doing great."
