The front desk and restaurant staff were very professional and polite, especially the female employee who helped us check in. She carefully explained the hotel facilities and local tours, and was very attentive and worthy of praise.

A lovely hotel with coastal views from all rooms on the far west side of Funchal. It was very peaceful, in part because it did not cater for children. We went bed and breakfast, but optional, inexpensive and tasty dinner packages were available. Near to a range of restaurants and shops but quite a way out of the centre - although a free hotel shuttle and a frequent public bus service was available. Friendly staff and nice, clean bedrooms.

Just returned from first visit to the island of Madeira, had a very happy and comfortable stay at this boutique hotel and were most appreciative of the warm welcome and help. In particular I would like to mention the girls on reception, Nadia and Dulce. Both were so kind and always had a smile as we passed their desk. Dulce especially recommended tours and a lovely restaurant all of which we took advantage of and enjoyed. The hotel is comfortable, spotlessly clean and we were well provided with everything we required. We loved the comfy beds and beautiful sea view, and very much appreciated the courtesy shuttle into town. We had dinner on a couple of nights and the food was excellent and well presented. The terrace is so lovely for al fresco meals or drinks with comfy seating and wonderful sea views. Hotel location is ideal being about two miles outside the main part of Funchal, a couple of hundred yards from a very nice little shopping centre which includes the pharmacy and a supermarket and cafes. There are very good restaurants in the immediate area and you are close to the bus service which takes you to various locations including the town center although we were happy to make use of the free courtesy shuttle from the hotel. I have no hesitation in recommending the hotel to anyone coming to visit Madeira and I hope to return myself sometime and would certainly stay at the Madeira Regency Cliff again. I do hope you'll be kind enough to pass our comments onto the staff in question.

This hotel is in a stunning location and must have deserved its 4* rating when first opened but our room was definitely looking tired and in need of some TLC. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was good but there were some rather unusual aspects to staying here which didn’t chime with 4*, namely Charged for additional tea and coffee sachets in room Charged per day for using room safe Request for additional hangers treated as unusual request ( we were staying for a month ) Dinner advertised from 7-9.00 pm but individual dishes were running out by 7.45pm Rooms serviced any time up to 5.00pm Indoor pool advertised as heated (told was 28 degrees) when it was really rather cold

Just returned today from a 7 night stay in the Regency Cliff hotel. We were just looking for a quick break before Christmas and got an extremely reasonable deal via Jet2. The hotel is well located in the Lido area, we were quickly checked in by friendly receptionist staff and allocated a room on floor 2. This hotel is built into the cliff, it’s one of those hotels where entrance and reception are on level 6, all rooms are below. We were very pleased with our room, large, clean, superb sea views, and absolutely silent. At no point during the holiday did we hear any other noise than the waves crashing on the rocks below, excellent. Breakfast each morning was ok. First morning the waiting staff provided pots of delicious coffee, but every other morning we had to crowd around a self service coffee machine for very poor quality. Fruit juices tasted very diluted so we stopped getting them. On the plus side, the hot food selection was always piping hot. We didn’t eat any other meals in hotel so can’t comment on them. Happy hour in the bar was each night between 6 and 7. We went there most evenings, rarely saw more than two other couples, really was lacking any atmosphere, maybe just that time of year. The bar staff were excellent, even making me a whisky sour off menu. Only entertainment was a keyboard player some nights for an hour, not good or at least not to our taste. Overall a good break, excellent value, great location, we would consider staying here again

My wife and myself fancied a short 4 night break somewhere mild and had never been to Madeira before. This hotel is a great find, we were checked in by great reception lady who was very funny and although in Portugal helped me with my Spanish. The other receptionist was a young man who advised us what tour to go on, and he was spot on with the choice. The hotel is as its named on a cliff and we had a fantastic clean spacious room on 2nd floor with perhaps the best sea view we have ever had. The food at breakfast and dinner was lovely and the service from the waiters was exceptional, thanks to John the Canadian waiter. I have to say that Madeira is a beautiful island with stunning vistas round every corner. I would without hesitation stay here again if we ever returned. Thanks Simon and Dawn

Super Jet2 holiday to Madeira staying half board at this lovely clean well run hotel ! Great professional friendly staff, great as much as you can eat food in the well furnished dining room or better still al fresco on the terrace with super views ! Very useful courtesy transport to & from Funchal but if booked up handy good regular cheap bus service ! Rooms not luxurious but perfectly fine & well serviced. Small swimming pool but never busy during our stay. Only 1 real criticism being drinks even water are quite expensive, if been cheaper we would have spent more time & money in the evenings taking in said views from the terrace.

Good stay here recently. Everybody welcoming, friendly and helpful. Reception staff very informative and easy to deal with. We had a room on 2nd floor with a balcony looking straight out to sea. The room was very clean and bright and the bed comfortable with a couple of chairs to sit in. Breakfast was a vast array of cuisines covering the tastes of many nations and cultures and was delicious .Staff always had smiles on their faces and happy to help. We were lucky to breakfast in the open air every day bar one and it was a great start to the day. The hotel is close to very good transport routes and just opposite The Forum shopping centre which has a multitude of shops. The hotel is nearby good restaurants and a tea room on the promenade walk. This is an adult only hotel with a good swimming pool and bar where you can get snacks whilst sun bathing . We would not hesitate in staying here again.

We had a large room on the 2nd floor with a fantastic sea view. The air con was good and the whole hotel was spotlessly clean. The bathroom was adequate ,could do with being updated. The room had an adjoining door.We could hear everything from the next room which wasn't ideal. The sunbathing areas were quiet. The beds were basic, not very comfortable. The patio could do with a clean as it was full of ****s.Even after a storm the area wasn't cleaned.I don't know why a courtesy bus is advertised as it runs at 9.30 or 10.30am only to Funchal.Or returns at 4.30 or 5.30pm.Tgis is useless for people wanting to go for a meal to funchal in the evening.Breakfast was very good. There was lots of choice and the views were spectacular. My husband is gluten intolerant,he was offered gf bread. We were there 14 nights so it would of been nice if there was gf cereal, pastries or biscuit. We have had this at other hotels. The staff at breakfast were fantastic.Very pleasant.Reception staff were hit and miss. All in all a good stay ,with a few things that could make it amazing.
