"The hotel boasts an excellent location, quite close to Luodong Station and the night market. The premises were clean, and the room was spacious enough. The Japanese-speaking staff at check-in were very helpful. They even provided an extra bottle of water. The only minor downside was the absence of soap in the bathroom sink area. The hotel was quiet, and the bed was comfortable. My smartwatch even recorded an excellent sleep score of 80, which confirms I had a great night's rest here."

"This time I came back from Kinmen to celebrate the New Year in Taiwan. After getting off the plane, I drove my children to the Yamaguchi Hot Spring Hotel, which I had booked a month ago. This was their first time to soak in a hot spring. We stayed in a cabin room type. We first went to the main hotel counter to check in. The male staff at the counter served us. He had a good attitude and answered every question in detail. When we arrived at the cabin, we opened the door and there was a nice smell of wood. After a break, we took our children to the public pool on the fifth floor of the hotel to soak in the hot springs. It was very windy that day, but the hot springs were so warm that the children were so happy. Fortunately, we were the only family of four that day so it didn't affect other people and the children could enjoy bathing in other rooms. The toilet in the other room occasionally had a bad smell, but there was no smell when the door was opened. In the morning, I was woken up by the sound of running and jumping on the roof. I thought it was a squirrel and my husband thought it was a bird, but it turned out to be a monkey. This time I stayed in this hotel for the price of NT$2,000 and breakfast. I thought it was pretty good. Next time I come back and want to take a hot spring bath, I will definitely choose this hotel."

Excellent
GGuest UserMy first stay at Yamagata Hotel was fantastic. The two security guards at the entrance were incredibly friendly and welcoming, instantly putting me at ease and lifting my spirits. From the front desk staff to the restaurant servers, housekeeping, and cleaning crew, you could truly feel the meticulous and thoughtful service throughout Yamagata Hotel. The mini-bar and snacks in the room were all complimentary, which was a very generous touch! The hot spring bathtub in every room is huge and incredibly comfortable to soak in – you don't even need to leave the room! Overall, I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a high-quality accommodation experience. It's definitely worth a return visit.

Outstanding
VVNFYu Peng Villa was our first and BEST accommodation on this Yilan-Taroko-SML-Alishan road trip. We arrived much later than expected and were relieved that our message to Trip.com got through to the guesthouse. When we drove up to the place (an easy find with GPS), a member of the staff walked up to our car and guided us to the drop off point.
I love the designer vibes of the property which is well maintained with a sizeable garden and plenty of flowers in bloom. The rooms are clean, spacious and comfortable. The showers worked and there was hot water. The western-style breakfast was generous in portion and delicious.
Best of all was the hospitality extended to us. It was the only place where we felt truly welcomed on this 8-day trip. The staff here chatted with us, gave advice on places of interest and sent us off with fruit from the orchard. After the great experience here, all the other places we stayed at pale drastically in comparison.
If you're planning to visit the Kavalan Distillery, this place is a great stayover option! Truly a slice of paradise.
薇薇vivi1. The hotel is new, the surroundings are quiet, and parking is convenient.
2. The room is clean with excellent natural light, and you can see Guishan Island in the distance from the balcony.
3. They offer a thoughtful snack service, so you don't have to worry about getting hungry late at night.
4. The breakfast selection is diverse and plentiful.
5. I would definitely come back again; it was a great stay.

Very Good
GGuest UserThe customer service staff were excellent! They even upgraded me to a high-floor, ocean-view room this time. The room was quite spacious. While parking in the hotel basement is limited, the hotel thoughtfully noted the sunrise time on the room key card sleeve for the next day.
BBino17Art Spa Hotel
-Execellent experience: amazing room, staff, services, hot spring facilities, prime location
-unlimited entry into its hot spring areas up to 1h after checkout (outdoors and indoors). Rmb to bring swim wear and swim hat else you can buy in the hotel (which is comparable if not cheaper than the stalls outside). Entry into springs is based on a sticker that can be redeemed at the concierge. There are lockers at NT10 inside if you want to put your belongings.
-food wise can walk out, turn right of the hotel walk around 10mins (use Google maps), alot of good stalls on the same way to McDonalds. There is even a supermarket on the way.
-Some worthy food mentions:Linjia Guangdong Beef Noodle Restaurant (not a looker, v discreet but we swear the beef noodle soup taste can match big brands and names like the liu shan cough in taipei), 香肠伯(standalone 烧烤摊位), Sinbow scallion expert (order the scallion spiral pizza 葱派,we went back for it 3 times in our 2D1N)

GGuest UserThe hot spring was lovely! They have both a public pool and private baths. There's also a kids' play area on the second floor, which our children absolutely loved, and a great selection of children's books. We even wrote a bunch of postcards there and were able to mail them home for free as a souvenir – what a nice touch!

GGuest UserAll kinds of feelings are good
The most important thing is that the service staff are very kind.
If I have the chance to visit Yilan again, I will want to stay there again.

GGuest UserThe hotel breakfast staff were incredibly polite and always smiling, making the start of the day very pleasant. The restaurant area even preserved the original large trees, designing around them beautifully, and they are very well-maintained – fantastic! The bathroom and soaking tub in our room type this time were quite spacious, giving a very comfortable feeling. 👍
However, there was a thick layer of dust on some counter surfaces in the room and under the bed, which might need more attention from housekeeping.

AAirplane mode NiI really wanted to love this hotel because it has some great features, especially for families. The staff were genuinely friendly and helpful throughout our stay, which made a positive impression right away.
However, there were several downsides that made the experience disappointing. The location feels quite isolated—almost like you’re in the middle of nowhere. While there is a train station about 10 minutes away, getting there with a stroller was difficult and inconvenient due to the lack of sidewalks.
Unfortunately, our room had a leaking ceiling that appeared moldy, which was concerning and definitely not what you expect from a hotel of this caliber. On top of that, you can hear trains passing by every so often, which can be disruptive.
One of the main reasons I chose this hotel was for the kids’ playground and the buffet. While the playground was a nice feature, the buffet did not meet expectations as it was disappointing for a fancy hotel.
Overall, the friendly staff were a highlight, but the issues with the room, location, and dining made the stay fall short of expectations.

AAnonymous UserFirst of all, this is a very old hotel that has seen truly better days. While maintained well, it has retained it's original furnishings and decor from the 1980s and 1990s. Staying here reminded me of my childhood travelling with my family in the 80s. The actual room does not look anything like the ones shown on the website. The hard floors mean you should wear their slippers or bring your own room slippers. The hot spring water advertised is just hot spring water pipes that go into your bathtub. There is a step that emulates hot spa step in the bathtub.
The breakfast was good with nice braised meat and eggs that you can put over your rice or porridge. There's also hot soy milk. But no hot tea, only coffee. The staff look tired but hard working.
There was a grumpy older lady receiptionist when we checked in and she was pretty rough in the check in process. E.g. ”if you don't put a number here, and you leave things in the hotel, we'll just throw them away! Just to tell you first.”
Room was quite small or cosy, depending on your perspective. The only thing new was the air-conditioner. The TV set had all the settings for channels but none worked. Internet wifi was not quite working too.
