"This hotel has it all, even a water filter for drinking water, not to mention a whole box of laundry detergent for washing clothes, and a drying rack on the balcony. On the first floor, there's a lobby with a variety of free drinks. The breakfast on the top floor is also incredibly rich, costing about 250 NTD per person. The curry rice, miso soup, tamagoyaki, and side dishes are abundant. We even ordered a grilled meat set meal for dinner, which was luxurious and affordable. I honestly suspect the owner doesn't care about costs, just wants guests to enjoy themselves.
There are also parking spaces at the entrance.
The rooftop restaurant offers over a 250-degree view of the beach, ocean, and nightscape, which is absolutely beautiful. Nearby, you can take a walk along the beach and enjoy Beppu Onsen. The Beppu Observation Deck at night is also stunning, and it's more than just a traditional observation deck:

"This hotel is amazing - the staff are friendly, the room is big and the view is beautiful. They also provide shuttle bus service which is really helpful. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t good so I didn’t have a chance to see the sunrise in the room. I might come back and try the private onsen next time!"

"The hotel is about 700 meters from the station. The rooms are spacious and offer sea views. Both breakfast and dinner are buffet style; while the variety isn't huge, the food is very fresh. The hot springs are pretty standard – nothing amazing, but nothing to complain about either. The only downside this time was having to make our own beds, which was quite surprising given Japan's renowned service culture."

"The hotel's location is a bit out of the way. The ocean view from the room was okay, I guess. You're required to take off your shoes when entering the hotel, but they don't even provide disposable slippers, so the service is pretty mediocre. The front desk staff also had a very unenthusiastic attitude during check-in. The hotel tries to project an image of being very clean and upscale, but honestly, the cleanliness of the guest rooms was just average; the toilet wasn't even wiped clean and had stains."

"Transportation: Very convenient. It's only a 10-minute walk to JR Beppu Station. For my bus trip to Fukuoka, the bus stop (right outside Starbucks) was just a 5-minute walk from the hotel.
Facilities: This is a resort-style hotel, and I was lucky enough to snag a sea-view room where the first rays of morning sun streamed directly in. The room was very spacious, more than enough for two people; it actually felt a bit large for just myself. It was approximately 10 tatami mats in size (excluding the bathroom, separate toilet, entryway, and balcony).
Cleanliness: As it was a Japanese-style room, it was generally clean, but there were some small bugs. I got a few bites on my fingers and bottom, but they cleared up by the next day.
Ambiance: The balcony offered a direct view of the ocean. The 260-degree sea view room was truly impressive.
Service: Overall, the service was very good. The only area that needs improvement is the hot spring on the 7th floor. On the day of my arrival, I made a reservation for the hot spring with the hotel, but I didn't receive any confirmation or proof. Consequently, I didn't actually go. However, I was still charged either 1000 or 1500 yen for it at check-out. It's a small amount, so I didn't bother disputing it with the front desk, but I do think their booking and confirmation process for the hot spring needs significant improvement."

Guest UserInitially, I was torn between choosing between Kai Beppu and Harumi, and I'm so glad I ultimately went with Harumi. From the service to the facilities, this onsen (hot spring) ranks as one of the best I've visited in Japan, alongside Izu, Arima, and Karuizawa. Enjoying a hot soak with family, then relaxing on the balcony listening to the ocean waves while sipping a drink—it was such a perfect evening. The service was excellent, and the breakfast was outstanding, featuring many local specialties. I'll definitely be back!

The hotel's location is excellent, just a few minutes' walk from the JR station. The decor and design are beautiful and very clean. It's also suitable for two people, and the room TV is quite large. The hotel also has hot springs for guests to enjoy. Overall, I highly recommend it, very satisfied!!

Room: super big with sea view, clean, great great great
Location: YOUME shopping mall and and a department store next to the hotel, 5 mins walk to Beppu Station, bus stop to the main hot springs opposite to the hotel, great great great.
Onsen: around 43 degrees, loveable
Breakfast: didn’t eat , 1800yen per set, seems good.

For my winter break trip to Japan, I continued exploring Kyushu, specifically Beppu and Yufuin. In Beppu, I stayed at this established onsen hotel. It wasn't expensive, and when I booked, it was the last room available. I kept checking countless times to see if a larger room would open up, but none did. My husband, due to his state-owned company job, couldn't travel, so it was just me and my son, which ended up being perfectly fine. The hotel initially even set up three futons for us in the tatami room.
The onsen was very relaxing. There were a lot of Korean guests at the hotel; I noticed them all at breakfast. Our room had a sea view, which I really liked. For housekeeping, they only offer free cleaning on the third day if you stay for three consecutive nights. Otherwise, it costs 3000 yen per cleaning. We figured it wasn't worth it since we didn't have much trash anyway, and I didn't bother making the bed.
The hot springs also offered sea views, though we only used them at night. Soaking in them before bed was incredibly comfortable and relaxing. Breakfast was a buffet with a good variety of local Kyushu dishes. I ate there for two days straight and didn't get tired of it.
In terms of transportation, it's about a 100-meter walk from the Beppu bus terminal if you're coming from Fukuoka. The JR station is also only about a 10-minute walk away, which is very convenient. Overall, I think it offers pretty good value for money.
