The Westin St. Francis San Francisco on Union Square

"I recently had the pleasure of staying at **The Westin St. Francis San Francisco on Union Square**, and I must say, the experience was outstanding from start to finish. The hotel's prime location in Union Square puts you right in the heart of the city, making it easy to explore the best that San Francisco has to offer, from shopping to dining and cultural landmarks. The historic charm of the hotel is wonderfully blended with modern comforts. My room was spacious, immaculately clean, and had an incredible view of the city. The Heavenly Bed truly lives up to its name—it was one of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept in! The staff was welcoming and professional throughout my stay, ensuring that every need was met promptly and with a smile. The check-in process was smooth, and the concierge team provided great recommendations for local spots to check out. Additionally, the hotel's amenities, including the fitness center and on-site dining options, were top-notch. I especially appreciated the rich history of the building itself, which added a unique element to my stay. Overall, The Westin St. Francis is a perfect choice whether you're in San Francisco for business or leisure. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for luxury, comfort, and an unbeatable location!"

"Location is perfect. Walking distance to everything we need (restos, shops, transpo). Very near Union Square too. Beautiful, clean and spacious room. I especially love the dressing/vanity table right outside the bathroom where I can do my make up without being bothered. 😂 Hotel staff were all kind, warm and helpful. We would definitely stay here again."

"Very expensive for a B&B. Nice spot in the Castro/ Mission district near Dolores Park. Well-maintained & reasonable management. Lots of stairs to go up into main house lobby — wrought iron gates with intercom to buzz to get entry into property. Try to get a room in the older main house to minimize stairs! No AC. They have limited parking spots behind the two B&B houses (access from Dorland St) for US$35./day plus tax which is a steep price. Make sure u book a parking spot in advance. Beautiful garden courtyard in the back. Sadly we never got to use it. Try to get a room that faces the other “house” or the backyard - quieter. We had a front room Deluxe King Room 36 which looked nothing like the sample room photos (only one Room 24 w courtyard view, sofa, coffee table). We got a smaller room approx 290sf vs what we paid for 32sq.m, 344sf, no closet just small armoire to hang a couple of things, no sofa, no coffee table, no balcony. They were kind enough to give us a refund for the price difference between the Deluxe King we booked & the Standard King we got. Had to ask for them to vacuum room. Found tissue under headboard/bed, dusty. Not the kind of room you would want to spend much time in —teeny tiny TV, faced front noisy street with electric bus passing by. No screens in windows so had to close windows at night to keep critters out. Bed was ok. Pillows were synthetic & lumpy. View was of electric lines & school across the street. Beware some electric outlets. One was burnt out. Breakfast was repetitive but nice to eat in a lovely breakfast room or outdoor deck. Hard-boiled eggs, muesli, fruit, muffins/ carbs, American coffee, juices. Fortunately SPRO café was next door if you need a great cappuccino or chai latté! Didn’t get a chance to enjoy their wine & cheese. Contact them on WhatsApp +1 (415) 297-6891 to discuss rooms available."

"The hotel is in a great and convenient location, just 5 minutes walk from Powell station which is connected via BART to SFO Airport. Room was spacious and clean. Beds were a bit soft for me. Plenty of bottled water available plus a great cold water drinking fountain in the lobby. Lots of good restaurants and cafes nearby. Then legendary street car station is just outside the hotel."

San Francisco: A Fusion of Culture and Innovation

Perched on the tip of a peninsula in the U.S. state of California, San Francisco is a vibrant city celebrated for its iconic landmarks, diverse neighborhoods, and innovative spirit. Did you know that San Francisco is the birthplace of the United Nations and the Fortune Cookie? The city's multi-faceted history and vibrant ambiance make it a must-visit destination.

Journey to San Francisco

San Francisco International Airport serves as the main gateway for international visitors. Various transportation modes, including taxis, shuttles, and the BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit), connect the airport to the city. Visa requirements depend on your nationality, so it's crucial to check ahead.

The official currency is the U.S. Dollar, and credit cards are widely accepted. English is the main language, but San Francisco's diversity means you'll hear a myriad of languages. An interesting tradition in the city is the "Sunday's Streets" events where neighborhoods transform into car-free spaces for community activities.

Iconic Attractions in San Francisco

The Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz Island, and Fisherman's Wharf are quintessential San Francisco sights. Explore the culturally-rich Chinatown, or wander around the colorful Victorian homes in Haight-Ashbury. Art enthusiasts should visit the Museum of Modern Art, while nature lovers can relax in Golden Gate Park.

San Francisco's Climate and the Ideal Time to Visit

San Francisco experiences a Mediterranean climate with cool, damp winters and dry summers. The city is known for its microclimates, so temperatures can vary across neighborhoods. Typical summer temperatures range between 57°F (14°C) and 70°F (21°C). The best time to visit is from September to November. Carry layers, as San Francisco's famous fog can cause sudden temperature drops.

San Francisco Accommodation: Find Your Perfect Stay

For proximity to attractions, Hotel Zephyr at Fisherman’s Wharf is an excellent choice. If culinary exploration is a priority, Hotel Nikko in the Tenderloin district is surrounded by diverse dining options.

The HI San Francisco Downtown Hostel is a budget-friendly choice, while business travelers may opt for the Four Seasons Hotel in the Financial District for comfort and convenience. The trendy Proper Hotel offers Instagrammable interiors, and for an airport-adjacent stay, Grand Hyatt at SFO is recommended.
