Chengdus metro system is really big. If you are a tourist, Line 2 is super helpful. It stops at lots of places like Chunxi Road, Taikoo Li, Kuanzhai Alley and Chengdu East Station. Line 3 is also great because it goes to the Giant Panda Base. Line 18 is good too. It connects Tianfu Airport to the city centre.
💡 Pro Tip: If you’re travelling onwards to other cities in China, consider using China high-speed rail. It's fast, comfortable, and efficient!

3. Kuanzhai Alley & People's Park (Qingyang District)

A combined city metro map with major tourist attractions marked is the most useful for first-timers. This shows you how to reach each attraction by public transport and helps you plan efficient daily routes. Make sure it marks both airports and the panda base location.
Can I use Google Maps in Chengdu?
Google Maps has limited functionality in China due to restrictions. It may show basic maps but often has inaccurate location data and won't provide reliable directions. Instead, download Amap (Gaode) or Baidu Maps before you arrive. You can also download offline maps of Chengdu before your trip.
Are maps available at the airports and train stations?
Yes, you can find free tourist maps at both Tianfu and Shuangliu airports, as well as at major railway stations and most hotel lobbies. These usually include a simplified city map, metro map, and list of major attractions.
How many days do I need to see the main attractions on the map?
For the core city attractions plus the panda base, 3 full days is a good amount of time. Add 1–2 extra days if you want to take day trips to Dujiangyan, Leshan, or Sanxingdui. Most first-time visitors from Singapore spend 4–5 days in Chengdu, which gives a comfortable pace without feeling rushed.
