🐼[Chengdu + Jiuzhaigou + Leshan Giant Buddha + Baoguo Temple 7-Day 6-Night Itinerary | A Spicy, Fairyland, and Soulful Journey]

This 7-day, 6-night Sichuan trip took me from the bustle of the city to the tranquility of nature and the soul. 🔥

🌸Day 1 After arriving in Chengdu, I checked into a hotel near Chunxi Road. My first stop was Kuanzhai Alley. Nestled in the quaint alley, I ordered a Panda Latte and experienced Chengdu's slower pace.

🌶️Day 2
At noon, I tried Sichuan hot pot, which was so spicy I sweated and exclaimed in delight. I also enjoyed rabbit meat, a rare local delicacy.

In the evening, I strolled through Taikoo Li and watched the dazzling Chengdu nightscape.

🐼Day 3
Early in the morning, I visited the Giant Panda Breeding Research Base and was mesmerized by the sight of pandas munching on bamboo and rolling around.

In the afternoon, I strolled through Jinli Ancient Street, where sugar paintings, teahouses, and music intertwined to create a sense of Chengdu life.

🏞️Day 4–5
Depart for Jiuzhaigou! The mountain scenery along the way is breathtaking, and upon arrival, the vibrant, multicolored lake is a true wonderland, its waters as clear as a dream. Overnight in a local homestay, under a star-filled sky.

🪷Day 6
On the way back, visit the Leshan Giant Buddha and Baoguo Temple. The Buddha, nestled against the mountainside, is breathtaking; while Baoguo Temple is tranquil and peaceful, its incense curling in the air bringing peace and tranquility, like a spiritual cleansing.

☕️Day 7
Back in Chengdu, enjoy a relaxing coffee and some souvenir shopping, a perfect end to the trip.

The spicy flavors of Chengdu, the tranquility of Jiuzhaigou, the grandeur of Leshan, and the serenity of Baoguo Temple—every moment of this journey is worth savoring. 💚

I'm standing near the Jinjiang River on this arched bridge... the dim lights reflecting off the soft water surface.

The sound of people walking by and the soft music from the riverside bars.

🗺️ How to get there: From central Chengdu, get to this address: Jinjiang District, Binjiang Dong Road 66 (滨江东路 66), near the Dongmen Bridge or Niuwangmiao subway stations.

💡 Tip:

Go in the evening after sunset to capture the bridge's lights and water reflections.

Sit at a restaurant or bar on the bridge or along the river and capture the city's reflection on the river.

☁️ Feeling:
This place isn't just a bridge... it's the "rhythm of Chengdu," combining past and present in one image.

01. Landing time: Arrive at the airport at 1:50 AM. Walk from the airport gate, following the Arrivals sign. It takes about 10 minutes to reach immigration. There aren't many people at this time, so it's a comfortable walk. I arrived at immigration at 2:00 AM.

02. Immigration: The line wasn't long and there weren't many people. It's recommended to fill out the immigration form beforehand on the plane or bring your own pen. During this time, there are officers available to assist you with filling out the form for a faster process.

03. Immigration: Waited in line for about 10 minutes. The officer asked 2-3 questions: Who are you with, how many days you'll be staying, and where you've been.

04. Passed through immigration and waited for your baggage claim around 2:30 AM.

05. Exit the airport. Pass the "Welcome to Chengdu" sign and follow the "Airport Bus" sign to catch the bus into the city. It's about a 10-minute walk. The bus stop is outside the building.

✈️Recommendations and Personal Opinions
The airport is quite close. It's a fairly short walk from the landing point to immigration. I recommend walking quickly and avoiding stops. It's easy to walk and won't get lost. You can follow the signs or people, and there's only one route to the checkpoint.

✈️ Immigration officers take a long time to check in and ask a lot of questions. It's recommended to prepare yourself for a quick and easy trip. Bring your return flight, hotel, and travel plans.

✈️ Restrooms are readily available from the moment you exit the plane. They're clean and new. We recommend using them in the airport before reaching the bus stop outside the terminal.

✈️ Restaurants and shops: If you're arriving on a late flight, there aren't many open. We recommend bringing snacks from Thailand, like bread or a snack, to take with you on the plane.

✈️ There are shops selling SIM cards and money changers that seem to be open.

✈️ The overall journey from the airport takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour. If you have other plans, allow plenty of time.

When you visit Chengdu, start from the base of the panda statue. Across the street, you'll find a building; take the elevator to the sixth floor, and you'll arrive at this Mala hotpot restaurant. The menu offers a wide variety of choices, and the serving style is quite charming. Personally, I love the dessert menu here; it's both adorable and delicious. This place gets very crowded during the winter season. The atmosphere is great, and every corner is perfect for taking photos.

China has many places to see pandas, including nature reserves where wild pandas live, panda breeding and research facilities, and casual zoos. Sichuan Province, in particular, is famous as the home of pandas, with many popular spots, including nature reserves, breeding facilities, and general stores. Here's a clear guide to the best spots in China to see pandas. Use this information to help plan your trip!

[Important Notices] Panda Viewing Etiquette
★ The best time to visit pandas is late summer through autumn. This is when pandas are most active, and you may have a chance to see baby pandas. Births usually occur around August.
★ Pandas are most active between 8:30 AM and 10:30 AM, making this the ideal time to observe them.
★ Binoculars and a telephoto camera are recommended for viewing pandas.

Important Notices
Flash photography and loud voices are prohibited.
Follow staff instructions when feeding.
Avoid weekends and holidays; weekday mornings are recommended.

★If you want to see pandas in person, we recommend Sichuan Province (with ample facilities in Chengdu and Wolong).
★If you're short on time, zoos in Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou are also fine!
(Please check the official website of each facility for the latest information.)

Go see pandas in China!

Here in Panda Valley in Dujiangyan, you'll find adorable pandas and red pandas waiting for you. If you meet them, you'll fall in love even more because they're truly adorable. The park isn't very large, but it's shady and a bit tiring to walk around, as the red pandas are at the furthest point in the park. Plus, they're shy and don't show their cuteness. I highly recommend visiting them if you're in the city. They're truly adorable!
How to get there: Take the DIDI train from the train station, it's not too far.

🐼 Chengdu Panda Base – a place where time stands still

Yesterday we visited the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding – the famous panda base in Chengdu. It's one of the most famous places in the world where giant pandas are cared for. 🐾 Here, they don't just show them off to tourists; they help them breed and raise their cubs to preserve this rare species.

The recommended walk time is 3-5 hours, but we spent more than five because it was impossible to leave! 🌿 The grounds are vast, green, and incredibly cozy – it's like entering a world of peace and tenderness.

We learned that all the pandas in the world belong to China 🇨🇳 – even those living in other countries are "on loan" there. And if babies are born somewhere, they are also considered Chinese citizens 😄

A special surprise: massive pandas sit calmly on thin trees! How they do it is a mystery 😅

It's also funny that all the pandas seem similar—they eat bamboo the same way or sleep in the cutest poses—but each one is mesmerizing. We stopped by each one, even the sleeping ones, and still couldn't tear ourselves away 💚

Now we can proudly say that we've seen 4% of all pandas living in zoos and reserves around the world.

Tickets were 220 yuan for four—definitely worth every yuan! We took the bus, but ended up walking the entire thing—about 20,000 steps through the panda park.

May is here to review a self-guided 1-day trip to Xiling Snow Mountain by high-speed train and then bus.

📅 January 1, 2025

This trip, as a prelude, was originally planned for a relaxing Chengdu trip, walking around and taking photos. However, Xiling couldn't resist the beauty of the mountain, so we went without a plan (though we had done some research). We chose to travel by high-speed train and then by bus.

📍High-speed train booking and transportation
- We booked through Trip the morning of our trip. We typed "Chengdu to Dayi." There are a lot of train schedules, but... be careful about where you board from Chengdu. What's the connection?

- Chengdu's high-speed rail network has four main stops: North, South, West, and East. However, the train to Dayi, as seen on the Trip app, only has three stations: South (Chengdunan), East (Chengdudong), and West (Chengduxi). All three stations can be reached by metro (search for a Chengdu Metro Map on Google for easy navigation). Or download the MetroMan app.
- We chose to board from South (Chengdunan) because it was convenient and close to our accommodation on Chunxi Road. We took Metro Line 3 and transferred to Metro Line 1 at Sichuan Gym Station. Once on Line 1, we rode two more stops to South Railway Station. We found Exit F, which connects us to the South Railway Station building (so you don't have to worry about getting lost). There are signs along the way.
- Upon arriving at the South Railway Station building, scan your passport (either the far left or the far right) and check your baggage.
- Check in the Trip app to see which gate you're boarding. If it's Gate 1, it's on the same floor as the baggage check-in. If it's Gate 2, 3, or 4, go up to the second floor.
- Line up, scan your passport again (either the far left or the far right), and then go down to wait according to your train number.
- I chose to take the high-speed train from South Station (Chengdunan) because it takes about 20 minutes to get to Dayi. Standing time is easy.

📍At Dayi Station, take the bus to Xiling Snow Mountain.
- Once you get off the high-speed train, look for the escalator exit sign. You'll see a blue panda skiing sign along the way. Follow the signs. My sister will take us to the bus.
- Bus times from Dayi Station to Xiling Snow Mountain: 7:20, 8:55, 9:25, 11:10, 12:30, 13:35, 14:40, 15:35
- When the bus arrives, open Alipay and wait. Go up to the right, near the driver's barrier. There will be a QR code for each person to pay 18 yuan. (The bus is similar to our buses in Thailand. If it's late and crowded, you have to stand the entire time.) The trip takes approximately 1.20-1.40 hours, depending on how often it stops to pick up passengers.

📍Returning to Chengdu
- Get off the bus at Xiling Snow Mountain and return to that stop.
- Return bus times from Xiling Snow Mountain to Dayi Station are 9:20, 10:55, 11:25, 13:10, 14:30, 15:35, 16:40, and 17:40.
- It's a good idea to book your high-speed train return time to avoid missing the bus. It runs until 2-3 PM. (The last bus is also the high-speed train back to Chengdu.)
- Return trip: The same as the inbound trip.

Pros: Traveling by high-speed train and bus: There are many departures throughout the day, so you don't have to worry about running out of buses. And, in my opinion, it's faster than taking the bus from Chengdu (20 minutes + 1.5 hours).

Cons: Traveling by high-speed train and bus: You have to transfer once. Bus seats are not reserved. First come, first served.

Spend a day in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province, a city that beautifully blends modernity with traditional lifestyles. Start your day at Tianfu Square, the heart of the city, surrounded by towering buildings and a grand fountain.

Next, enjoy a leisurely bike ride to People’s Park, a green oasis where locals relax, drink tea, chat, and sing karaoke outdoors. You might want to sip tea in a pavilion by the pond.

In the evening, don’t miss the city’s signature dish, Suan Cai Yu (Pickled Mustard Fish). This delightful dish combines sour, salty, and spicy flavors perfectly, with tender fresh fish in a broth infused with the aroma of chili and Sichuan pepper. It’s a must-try for anyone visiting Chengdu.

End your day with a refreshing drink at Cha Panda Café, a famous tea shop in the city decorated with an adorable panda theme.

Estimated daily expenses: 500 THB.
