Chengdu Airport Lounge

Chengdu has two airports and they are an hour apart, by road. So the real question isn't "which lounge should I use?”. It's "which airport am I actually landing at and does it even have one I can get into?" This guide walks you through how you would decide Chengdu Airport lounge.

Which Chengdu Airport Will Your Flight Use?

Get this fixed first because it decides every lounge option that comes after.

Airport

Code

Distance from city

Main role today

Chengdu Tianfu

TFU

About 50–60 km south-east

Newer and larger; almost all international flights

Chengdu Shuangliu

CTU

About 16 km south-west

Older and closer in; mostly domestic and regional

Tianfu opened in 2021. It is now the city’s main international gateway. Since 2023, all overseas flights, such as those from Singapore, have moved to Tianfu from the old Shuangliu airport. Shuangliu remains busy. It now focuses on domestic routes. Selected regional services to Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan will return to Shuangliu.

The honest consequence is that the airport you use most. Tianfu has fewer lounges than the older Shuangliu. Check each lounge’s access rules.

👍Pro Tip: When planning your visit, consider booking your flights to Chengdu early to snag the best deals and keep an eye out for promotions.

Which Lounges Can You Actually Use at Tianfu (TFU)?

Chengdu Tianfu Airport Lounge

Tianfu has two terminals: T1 for international departures, T2 for domestic. There are three usable lounges in total, and each has clear restrictions.

Opening hours

Facilities

Who gets in

International First & Business Lounge

T1, 3rd floor, near Gate 117

07:00–22:30

Drinks, alcohol, hot food, snacks, showers, international media

First/business class only; no lounge passes

Sichuan Airlines Lounge

T2, after security, opposite Gate 214

From first Sichuan flight to about 21:00

Buffet, alcohol, luggage storage, children's play area

Sichuan flyers, or paid day pass

China Eastern VIP Lounge

T2, 2nd floor, Hall 2, opposite Gates 213/214

05:30 until last departure

Buffet, alcohol, sleeping and relaxation areas, work zone, luggage storage, children's play area

China Eastern, Shanghai, China United only

Three things to flag so you do not waste money.

  1. The International Lounge in T1 is for outbound international travellers and does not accept Priority Pass or DragonPass; it is strictly for business and first class travellers.
  2. The China Eastern Lounge in T2 is for passengers, on China Eastern, Shanghai Airlines or China United Airlines.
  3. All the pay‑in lounges cap your stay at two hours.

What Facilities Do the Tianfu Lounges Actually Offer?

The International First & Business Lounge in T1 is the room at Tianfu. It’s a shared space used by airlines, including Cathay Pacific. It’s the only lounge with showers. The problem? Economy passengers can’t buy access.

In T2, the China Eastern VIP Lounge is the better of the two lounges. It has sleeping spots, relaxing areas and a work zone. If you’re stuck with a domestic connection, this is the best choice.

The Sichuan Airlines Lounge is simpler but easier to get into. It has a buffet, drinks and luggage storage. It’s also the lounge most Singapore transiting passengers can actually buy a day pass for.

Which Lounges Can You Actually Use at Shuangliu (CTU)?

Chengdu Shuangliu Airport Lounge

Shuangliu has two terminals and, unlike Tianfu, a genuinely wide selection. T1 is now mainly Sichuan Airlines and regional traffic; T2 is the larger domestic hub with most of the lounges.

What Makes the Shuangliu Airport Lounges Worth Picking?

Shuangliu offers showers, sleep and quirks that you cannot find at Tianfu.

The Air China Lounge in Terminal 2 is the all‑round place. It has showers and sleeping areas. It is very useful when you have a domestic layover.

The Legang Leisure Lounge is special because it is open all day and night. It also gives an ear‑cleaning and massage. Those services last twenty minutes.

The Comfort Zone lounges give the massage and ear‑cleaning. The 24‑hour lounge at Gate 9 also has alcohol.

One timing rule applies to all Shuangliu Airport lounges. Most of them only let you stay two hours. The airline lounges (Air China, China Eastern, Sichuan) close with that airlines flight schedule instead of a fixed clock. So check the day you fly.

What Are the Cheapest Ways to Get In?

Work down this list, from free to most expensive:

  • Airline status: If you are a frequent flyer with Sichuan, Air China or China Eastern, you can enjoy lounge access at no extra cost.
  • Premium credit cards: If you hold a card that includes Priority Pass or DragonPass, you can use the lounges that these networks cover (see the tables above).
  • Online lounge passes: You can buy a pass through travel websites or lounge‑network apps. This is usually the cheapest paid way.
  • Paid day pass at the lounge: This is the flexible option but it also costs the most.

Before you pay check two things: first, which airport your network covers; second, whether the lounge you want accepts your pass. For example, the International Lounge at Tianfu T1 does not accept it.

Practical Tips for Singapore Travellers

  • Pay attention to the two-hour stay limit. Paid lounges at both airports limit your stay to two hours, so it is not useful to pay extra for a very long connection.
  • Know the smoking rules. Smoking is not allowed inside both terminals and all lounges. At TFU, outdoor smoking areas are near Gate 113 in Terminal 1, at gates 211 217 229 and 236 in Terminal 2; at CTU smoking areas are on the floors of the departure areas and at building entrances and exits.
  • Sleep pods are available for layovers. Both airports have "Take a Nap" sleeping pods, some of which offer wake-up services.
