Things to Do in Shenzhen

When I first landed in Shenzhen, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect—maybe just another fast-paced Chinese city? But wow, I was wrong. Shenzhen feels like a mash-up of future tech, chill parks, and buzzing local vibes. Compared to Singapore, it’s a little more raw around the edges, but in a good way.

The Shenzhen weather is warm and humid most of the year, so it feels familiar—no need to pack a coat! The best time to visit Shenzhen can be all year round.

And as a Singaporean, you’ll love the shopping (hello, Huaqiangbei), affordable massages, late-night street eats, and cool cafés tucked inside creative parks. Food-hunting and shopping are top-tier here, but there’s also art, nature, and even quiet beaches if you know where to look.

Ready to explore? Here are things to do in Shenzhen to make the most of your trip.

Exclusive Mountain and Sea Summit: Encounter Your Cliffside Sea View Private Residence in Jiaochangwei, Shenzhen

If you're tired of the monotonous hotels and yearn for a truly private, unique place that can hold all your romantic imaginations, then turn your gaze to Jiaochangwei on the Dapeng Peninsula in Shenzhen. This place is not only known as the "Little Gulangyu of Shenzhen" for its coastal homestay clusters but also hides a newly unveiled secret realm that truly defines ultra-luxury travel living—a standalone villa perched on a cliff overlooking the sea.

This is more than just a stay; it is a full possession of space, landscape, and self-dialogue.

Exclusive Location, Defining the Extraordinary
Unlike the lively homestay clusters by the beach, this villa proudly stands in a quiet high spot on the coast. It sacrifices the convenience of direct beach access but gains a 270-degree unobstructed vast sea view and absolute privacy. Here, you are not a spectator of the scenery but the owner of a mountain and sea masterpiece.

Immersive Aesthetics, Details as Luxury

· Cliffside Floor-to-Ceiling Windows: The entire glass curtain wall frames the blue sea and sky into a giant dynamic art piece, seamlessly flowing from the faint morning light to the starry night.
· Infinity Private Hot Tub: The soul of the villa. The edge of the warm water-filled tub visually connects with the distant sea horizon. Bathing here, watching the sunset dye the clouds and sea golden red, with the sea breeze gently brushing by, this moment of intoxication feels like a dream scene on the Amalfi Coast.
· Wabi-Sabi Style Interior: Rejecting extravagance, it creates a tranquil, introspective atmosphere with natural materials, soft tones, and smart technology. High-quality bedding and brand-name equipment like Dyson ensure uncompromising comfort.

Exclusive Experience, Beyond the Ordinary
The villa offers one-on-one butler service, arranging a full ceremonial experience from welcome tea to late-night handmade sweet soups. You can enjoy breakfast facing the sea on your private terrace or have a chef customize a sea view dinner for you.

When you want to step out of this world, the artsy alleys of Jiaochangwei and the Dapeng Fortress, carrying the history of Ming and Qing coastal defense, are nearby, offering you a different rhythm of exploration.

Choosing here means choosing uncompromising taste and the highest respect for precious time. The most important thing in life is to experience those beautiful moments that touch the soul. Every moment in this cliffside villa—whether stretching in the hot tub or gazing at the sunset in a trance—is marking a memorable milestone in life. Every day is so special, worthy of being carried by the most exquisite scenes.

Although I didn't stay at Andaz Shenzhen this time, I made a special trip to explore its public spaces and the dining area on the sixth floor. The luxurious and charming atmosphere was still palpable ✨

The overall decor follows an elegant and stylish theme, with artistic design details adorning the lobby and hallways. Stepping inside feels like entering a boutique art gallery. The sixth-floor restaurant and outdoor garden are the highlights, offering expansive views of Shenzhen's city center. At night, the city lights create a dazzling and ceremonial ambiance.

The staff were incredibly friendly, and even during a brief visit, I could fully experience the five-star hospitality.

If you're looking to indulge in Shenzhen's refined travel style, it's worth stopping by for a drink and soaking in the sophisticated vibe, even if you're not staying overnight 🍸

🌟First experience at Jinmao Shenzhen JW Marriott Hotel

Super convenient location📍
As soon as I arrived in Shenzhen, I headed straight to the Jinmao Shenzhen JW Marriott Hotel. The location is fantastic, right in the heart of Futian District, surrounded by towering buildings and a strong commercial atmosphere. Just a few steps out the door is a subway station, making it very easy to get anywhere. There are also plenty of places to eat and shop nearby, which made me, someone who loves to wander around, especially happy.

Impressive exterior, stunning entrance👀
The hotel’s exterior is very grand and looks high-end. As soon as I walked in, the lobby’s decor immediately caught my attention. The high ceilings, soft yet bright lighting, and all the details exuded refinement. The front desk staff were very warm and welcoming; when I checked in, they even poured me a glass of ice water. It was a bit hot outside, so drinking it felt especially refreshing and made me instantly feel the hotel’s thoughtfulness.

Comfortable rooms, full marks for details👍
The room was really nice, quite spacious with a reasonable layout. The bed was super soft, lying on it felt like sinking into a cloud, and I slept very soundly. The little items in the room were also carefully chosen; the toiletries were all big brands and very comfortable to use. Another small detail was the excellent soundproofing of the windows. Despite the busy traffic outside, the room was very quiet, which made me sleep very peacefully.

Amazing dining experience🍽️
The hotel has many dining options, but my favorite was the buffet breakfast. The variety was extensive, with all kinds of Chinese and Western dishes. I especially loved their freshly pan-seared steak, cooked perfectly and melting in my mouth. There were also fresh fruits and various breads, so every morning I could eat my fill and start the day full of energy.

Thoughtful service that feels very warm❤️
The hotel’s service was truly excellent. Whether it was the front desk, housekeeping, or restaurant staff, everyone was very friendly. One night I came back late and was a bit hungry, so I called room service. They quickly delivered a late-night snack and kindly asked if I wanted anything else. This kind of thoughtful service made me feel very warm, just like coming home.

To sum up, this stay was so happy🎉
Staying at the Jinmao Shenzhen JW Marriott Hotel this time really made me very happy. From the location to the comfort of the room, and from the dining to the service, everything made me feel it was worth every penny. Next time I come to Shenzhen, I will definitely choose this place again and highly recommend it to friends who enjoy high-quality accommodations.
