Things to Do in Shenzhen

When I first landed in Shenzhen, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect—maybe just another fast-paced Chinese city? But wow, I was wrong. Shenzhen feels like a mash-up of future tech, chill parks, and buzzing local vibes. Compared to Singapore, it’s a little more raw around the edges, but in a good way.

The Shenzhen weather is warm and humid most of the year, so it feels familiar—no need to pack a coat! The best time to visit Shenzhen can be all year round.

And as a Singaporean, you’ll love the shopping (hello, Huaqiangbei), affordable massages, late-night street eats, and cool cafés tucked inside creative parks. Food-hunting and shopping are top-tier here, but there’s also art, nature, and even quiet beaches if you know where to look.

Ready to explore? Here are things to do in Shenzhen to make the most of your trip.

When I first arrived in China, I was so excited that I started waking up early, literally running out of bed to explore. I only had 3 days per city, and my schedule was packed. But China’s weather decided to play a joke on me.

In both Shenzhen and Guangzhou, my first days were completely ruined by gloomy, heavy rain or dark, overcast skies. I felt like I was losing half of my trip! But here is the funniest part: every single time on the day of my departure, the sun would suddenly come out, shining beautifully as if to say "Goodbye!" ☀️🙄
Despite the rain, I refused to give up and practically sprinted to catch the best views:

In Shenzhen, I ran to see the incredible Museum of Contemporary Art (it looks like a giant, futuristic silver raindrop/capsule! 🪐).
In Guangzhou, I rushed to catch the stunning Sacred Heart Cathedral near my hotel.

My Ultimate China Travel Hack:
What completely saved my sanity and my schedule was choosing High-Speed Trains instead of airplanes. 🚄✨ Flying in bad weather means endless delays and stress. But these trains are a masterpiece—zero stress, perfectly on time, and so fast that I saved hours of travel time between cities. It’s the best way to outrun the rain! ☔️

Has the weather ever ruined your travel plans, or is it just my luck? 😂

Have you arranged where to go for Easter yet?
Why not go to Shenzhen 2 days 1 night family relaxing trip ~ ~
Stay in a hotel, walk around the mall, and then go to Shenzhen Zoo!

This time we stayed at "#Xili Innovation Grain Atour Hotel", which is the largest Atour Hotel in China. The rooms are large and clean, the king bed is happy enough for the children, the suite is spacious, and there is enough space for them to walk around!

There is a coffee shop in the lobby, where you can sit down and have afternoon tea, or serve it to your room and enjoy it slowly! After a break, we went to the Innovation Grain Plaza next door for a walk, and there were rides to play. The kids had a lot of fun🤗

For dinner, we went to the hotel's second floor "Feast Day Mong Kok Fishing Village" to taste Shunde cuisine. Black truffle char siu, Qingyuan chicken, Shunde fish soup, etc. are all delicious and authentic!

The next day after the hotel breakfast we headed to the “##Shenzhen Safari Park” – with over 300 species of animals, many of which we have never seen in person, very excited!

It is recommended that you enter in the morning, the animals eat breakfast when the most elf, so you can feed them to eat ~ We fed kangaroos, giraffes, must go to feed the tiger, really nervous and excited, the first time so close to see the tiger open mouth, but also drooling!

Kids can also go to play rides, go-karts, really play all day without getting bored! To play more comfortably, you can recommend renting a scooter, do not have to walk yourself, or take the amusement park train, but you have to wait in line at different stations☺️☺️
