Things to Do in Shenzhen

When I first landed in Shenzhen, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect—maybe just another fast-paced Chinese city? But wow, I was wrong. Shenzhen feels like a mash-up of future tech, chill parks, and buzzing local vibes. Compared to Singapore, it’s a little more raw around the edges, but in a good way.

The Shenzhen weather is warm and humid most of the year, so it feels familiar—no need to pack a coat! The best time to visit Shenzhen can be all year round.

And as a Singaporean, you’ll love the shopping (hello, Huaqiangbei), affordable massages, late-night street eats, and cool cafés tucked inside creative parks. Food-hunting and shopping are top-tier here, but there’s also art, nature, and even quiet beaches if you know where to look.

Ready to explore? Here are things to do in Shenzhen to make the most of your trip.

In China, there are very few malls that truly amaze me, but this one is absolutely captivating. Walking around gives off a futuristic vibe.
✨ The most striking feature is the entrance, where there's a 3D waterfall seemingly flowing from mid-air. When you stand close, the images change continuously, creating a mesmerizing and futuristic feel. Additionally, the load-bearing walls inside the mall display animations with light and shadow effects, giving off a high-tech vibe. Girls! I just got back from Shenzhen, and the hotel I stayed at this time totally blew me away 🤩 I have to share it with you right now!

【The moment I opened the door, I literally said "Wow" out loud】

Who would’ve thought! The moment I dragged my suitcase and opened the door, I just stood there stunned for three seconds 😮 The floor-to-ceiling window offered an unbeatable view of Shenzhen Bay, and the sunlight came in at just the right angle, making the room look like it had a soft-focus filter✨ That sunken round bathtub faced the window—I soaked in it that night while watching the night view, champagne glass in hand, and the vibe was off the charts 🥂 The bedding was so soft it felt like sinking into clouds, and there were five pillow options! I’m usually picky about beds, but I slept through the night without even hearing my alarm ⏰

【Breakfast was so good it made me give up sleeping in】

I usually never eat breakfast at hotels, but this time I set my alarm for three days straight just for the Lu Restaurant ⏰ The freshly made eggs Benedict with runny yolk was a work of art, paired with a cup of hand-poured coffee—I ended up sitting in the restaurant for two hours ☕ The best part was the Shenzhen-style rice rolls, steamed fresh by the chef, so thin they were translucent! I even secretly learned some plating tricks and got flooded with requests for the link when I posted on social media 📸 Afternoon tea was even crazier—the molten chocolate cake still lingers in my mind, and the moment it oozed out made me almost scream 🍫

【The location made even a directionally challenged person like me love going out】

The hotel is right on Houhai Avenue by Shenzhen Bay. You might not believe it, but I just walked 200 meters in slippers to Shenzhen Bay MixC Mall 🛍 It’s only a ten-minute walk to Talent Park for night views and strolls, and the sea breeze just blows all worries away 🌊 One time I spontaneously went to see the "Spring Bamboo Shoot" building, and the taxi fare was just the starting price. Even the driver said this location choice was perfect 👍 There are tons of trendy coffee shops nearby—I checked in at three following Xiaohongshu recommendations, all within walking distance!

【The pool and spa made me want to get an annual membership on the spot】

I have to give a special shoutout to the indoor heated pool! The high ceiling and natural light made swimming feel like floating on clouds 🏊‍♀️ I tried a single spa session, and the therapist’s skills were so professional I fell asleep instantly. When I woke up, I felt five pounds lighter (mentally) 💆‍♀️ The gym isn’t big but all the equipment is the latest Technogym models, plus that smart magic mirror—I fiddled with it for a while but couldn’t figure it out, though it looked super fancy haha 💪

【The service details were basically mind-reading level】

On the third day, I came back to my room and found the humidifier by the bed refilled, with a cup of warm water and two chocolates waiting 🍫 I mentioned wanting hot tea, and within five minutes room service knocked and brought me my favorite Da Hong Pao tea! On checkout day, seeing I had a lot of luggage, the front desk lady proactively called a car for me and even gave me a bottle of Evian for the road 🚗 That feeling of being treated like family really touched my heart 💖

Shenzhen Hard Rock Hotel🎸
Rock music theme, wild style directly comparable to Hollywood! There are already many photo spots in the ground floor and corridors, many fans must take pictures of Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Michael Jackson's costumes are on display in the lobby, it's like walking into a museum, super superstar atmosphere 🤩

Our three small book large bed room + twin room, the design is very cool:
· Large bedroom with oversized round ⭕️Spa bathtub, three children together bath and play in the water happy to burst 😃
· Spacious twin room, great parent-child choice! You can also specifically request children's toiletries, slippers ~
· The washroom is separated from wet and dry, and the bathtub and shower are complete

The hotel buffet dinner has a lot of choices, comfortable seats, this issue's theme is Chaoshan beef hot pot and starry outdoor barbecue area, all you can eat Chaoshan beef freshness, hot pot seafood mix yourself, so many ingredients you do not know how to choose!
Breakfast is also very good, not repeated with dinner, there are ready-to-cook omelet, steamed cha-fan ~

There is a small children's playroom on the 6th floor
There is also a small pool on the 26th floor (remember to bring your own swim cap!)

❣️We are playing at our own expense without advertising ingredients❣️

The location is right! Shenzhen Hard Rock Hotel is located in the Guanlan Lake Resort, opposite the MH mall
Nearby is Ice and Snow World❄️, Sea World🐳, go-karts, craft workshops, and ✨the newly opened Harry Potter Forbidden Forest🧙🏻♂️, within walking distance🔥
