Meimei___01A Charming Old Town Homestay in Luoyang: Beautiful but with a Few Quirks!
This is a beautifully renovated homestay nestled right inside Luoyang's ancient old town. If you are looking for a place with local character, this is a wonderful choice, though there are a few practical things you should know before booking.
The Cons (Things to consider):
The Location/Access: Because it is located deep within a narrow alley of the old town, large cars and taxis cannot pick you up or drop you off right at the doorstep. You will need to roll your luggage for about 400 meters to the main road. 🧳
The Breakfast: They serve a very traditional Chinese breakfast consisting of millet porridge, fried dough sticks (youtiao), and vegetable steamed buns. While it tasted good, it was a bit salty, and the menu was exactly the same every single day without any variation.
The Pros (Why I still loved it):
The Room & Vibe: Our triple room was incredibly spacious, spotlessly clean, and the entire courtyard was beautifully decorated with a lot of taste and local charm.
The Hospitality: The owner and the staff were absolutely amazing—super enthusiastic, warm, and helpful throughout our stay! ❤️
The Prime Location: Being situated inside the old town means it is exceptionally convenient. You can easily walk to all the major historical sights and the vibrant Drum Tower (Gulou) Night Market for amazing street food. 🏮🍢
Overall, despite the minor inconveniences with luggage and the repetitive breakfast, the massive rooms, lovely aesthetic, and unbeatable location make it a fantastic base for exploring Luoyang!

Facilities: A standard hotel. As a member, I received a free upgrade. The room itself was exactly as pictured online when I booked, so the upgrade was likely just to a higher floor. Higher floors are indeed quieter, which was nice.
I'd suggest upgrading the curtains to electric ones. They're difficult to pull from behind the sofa. The TV is an older model; you can't cast to it or watch streaming services. Hot water is fast, but the showerhead doesn't have a rainfall option. The sink area is separate from the shower/toilet, and the mirror has backlighting, plus there's a double-sided makeup mirror.
Cleanliness: Very clean. No obvious dirt or dust anywhere visible. They cleaned daily, and the sheets and duvet cover seemed to be changed between guests. There's a laundry room with older washing machines and dryers. Laundry detergent is provided, but I'd suggest also offering a bottle of disinfectant.
Environment: The location is great, and parking is convenient. It's good for tourists, near a subway station, and there are plenty of e-bikes around. Just a heads-up: Luoyang's city roads generally seem narrow, with lots of people and cars, so be careful if you're driving.
Service: The service was excellent. The staff and cleaning ladies always greeted me, and requests were met quickly. On the first day, I asked for a fruit platter, and it arrived within 5 minutes.
Evening Porridge: The night I was there, it was small wontons, a rather small portion, only about 4-5 pieces. Not enough to fill you up, and I didn't ask for seconds.
Exquisite Fruit Platter: The fruit platter was decent, likely designed for easy portability – apples, oranges, and cherry tomatoes.
Exquisite Blind Box Souvenir: This surprised me! I don't know if this blind box is given to everyone or if I was just lucky, but even though it's not valuable, it was a truly delightful surprise.

I'm so glad I chose this perfect hotel in Luoyang during the May Day holiday rush after carefully sifting through many options. It's conveniently located, the facilities are brand new, and the service is excellent. It's less than 20 meters walk from Exit A of Mudan Bridge Metro Station on Line 2. After a long day of sightseeing, you'll truly appreciate how important it is to be close to a metro station! It's just one metro stop to Jiefang Road Commercial Area, which has two large shopping malls, Dennis and Wangfujing, and plenty of delicious food options nearby. Although the hotel is on a main street, the double-glazed windows provide excellent soundproofing. Even with the hotel almost fully booked during May Day, I stayed for two nights and didn't experience any noise issues at all. It's truly an oasis of calm in a bustling area. Downstairs, there's a delicious beef noodle soup place, as well as Wan Jing Xiang, a famous old Henan brand where you can buy specialties like peony flower cakes. The front desk thoughtfully provided a portable tourist map, which was super convenient to carry around for my two days of exploring. The breakfast was bountiful with a wide variety of options, and all service requests were responded to quickly. When checking out, they kindly asked if I wanted to take two bottles of water with me. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Luoyang!

Had a wonderful stay for two nights. The location is perfect, with Luoyi Ancient City, Yingtianmen gate, Lijingmen gate, Tiantang pagoda and Mingtang palace within a one-kilometer radius. Longmen Grottoes are about 14 km away, but taxis/cabs are easily available. The homestay is high on aesthetics. The room was clean and housekeeping efficient. The members of staff were very friendly, always ready to help. Will stay here again.

Anonymous UserI was in Luoyang for a business trip and stayed at the Atour Hotel (Luoyang Railway Station Dawetiandi) for three consecutive days, opting for a business king room. The room was very clean and well-arranged, equipped with a small tea table, a long sofa by the window, a desk, and a backrest chair. The bathroom had a separate wet and dry area, and all the disposable amenities were provided. The towels and bath towels were individually wrapped; after opening the packaging, they smelled fresh and were immaculately white, appearing brand new. The bedding was also clean and smelled pleasant, and the Atour Planet sleep-aid pillow genuinely worked wonders. The breakfast offered a wide variety of options, including both Chinese and Western dishes, and the juices and coffee were of good quality. Overall, my stay was excellent, and I will definitely choose this hotel again when I return to Luoyang.

Anonymous UserThe 'Yique Qiyun' twin room was spacious and bright, with highly responsive smart controls throughout. The pressure-relieving mattress was incredibly comfortable and restorative, ensuring a great night's sleep. The hygiene was impeccable, with every detail taken care of. The ambiance was charmingly antique yet peaceful. It's incredibly close to the Longmen Grottoes and Longmen Station, making travel super convenient. The owner was warm and attentive, proactively helping us plan our sightseeing and recommending authentic local food. We truly felt at home. This stay far exceeded our expectations, and we'll definitely choose this place again on our next trip to Luoyang!

Guest UserHotel was excellent. I got a complimentary room upgrade on arrival as they had availability. The counter staff also gave me a free breakfast coupon for 1 morning (I stayed 2 nights), as my booking did not include breakfast. Staff were friendly and helpful. One thing though - they actively promoted their wechat helpline, but they were very slow to respond as the front desk staff are often busy. Therefore if you require any assistance, ring them or go ask them directly at lobby instead. Aside from that the room was very comfortable with great amenities. Especially the pillows!

Guest UserBEST STAY EVER! Long review, but a meaningful one.
Hotel & Facilities:
I stayed here for 4 nights.
The hotel is beautiful, peaceful, and well maintained.
The location is excellent, only about a 5-minute walk from the main entrance of the Longmen Grottoes, plus all the shopping and food area.
There is also a nearby bridge where I enjoyed beautiful views of the grottoes without entering the site!
The receptionist Mengmeng upgraded my room to a suite free of charge, which made my stay even more memorable, since it was a special occasion! She was super helpful and kind through my stay.
Housekeeping was outstanding. My room was cleaned every day and maintained to a high standard.
The breakfast buffet had a variety of dishes and enough choices to keep breakfast interesting throughout my stay, I ate like a queen, besides the restaurant area is super peaceful.
As a Spanish girl who does not speak good Chinese, I relied on translation apps, and the staff were always patient, welcoming, and eager to help.
Exceptional Staff Support After I Sprained My Ankle:
During my visit to the Longmen Grottoes, I unfortunately sprained my ankle.
The level of care I received from the hotel staff was exceptional and was one of the main reasons I decided to extend my stay by an extra night.
The receptionist Dan Dan and the driver Zhang Hong went above and beyond to help me the night I sprained my ankle.
Ma Dan Dan was my main contact point. She regularly checked on me, provided ice for my ankle and even helped me do my laundry! She came up and down to my room several times to bring me everything I needed. I am very grateful for her time and care.
The driver Changwang took me to the nearest health centre and he was super patient and talkative, which was nice.
Special mention to one staff member called Wang Bing, she was working during the breakfast the day after I sprained my ankle and she was incredibly helpful, lovely and attentive, she even gave me a medicine for mosquito bites!
Everyone treated me with kindness and professionalism.
I believe mentioning their names is relevant, due to my particular situation, they deserve the recognition.
As a solo woman travelling and getting injured far away from home, their support meant a great deal to me.
Overall:
Whether you are a domestic or international traveller, I highly recommend this hotel.
The combination of beautiful facilities, an excellent location, outstanding cleanliness and nd caring staff made this one of the most memorable experiences I have had in my years of travelling.
Thank you to the entire team for making my stay so special !

The hotel gave us a gift of fruit yogurt when we checked in. There was ice lemon water in the lobby, and there was also a rubbing experience booth where children could try it. The surrounding area is a new building, so parking is convenient, but it may be a bit inconvenient to get to various attractions (if you are not driving). The window of the room we stayed in on the first night faced the viaduct, and the noise of cars and people talking on the road at night kept me awake all night. The next day, they helped us change the room, which was much better. The service was good, and the room was also suitable for practicing calligraphy.

Guest UserThis is by far the most reassuring and pleasantly surprising hotel I've stayed at during my trips to Luoyang. The weather in Luoyang has been incredibly hot lately. When my girlfriend and I arrived at the hotel in the afternoon, sweating, the front desk staff immediately offered us two bottles of water and even gave my girlfriend a hair tie. Check-in was very quick. We were also delighted with the room; it's very spacious and expansive, with an overall ancient-style decor that's perfect for photos and truly reflects the character of this old capital. The breakfast was also fantastic, offering both Luoyang specialties and stir-fries – you can eat whatever you like. The location is excellent too, with a snack street about 500 meters away. I highly recommend this hotel!
