The staff were exceptionally welcoming and accommodating, always ready to help with any requests. The location was perfect for exploring the Wuling Mountain area, and we loved waking up to the sound of birds and seeing the misty mountain views every morning. The hiking trails nearby were well-maintained and offered stunning views of the landscape. Although it was a bit remote, that was exactly what we were looking for - a true escape from urban life. The local breakfast was delicious and featured fresh, organic ingredients from the area. We particularly enjoyed the evening stargazing, as the night sky was crystal clear away from city lights. This place is absolutely perfect for couples seeking a romantic getaway or anyone looking to reconnect with nature. IIrina. AA great guesthouse near the Jingshanglin section of the Great Wall of China. The rooms are very spacious and clean. There's plenty of hot water. The hosts are very friendly and provided us with a complimentary excellent breakfast. The lunches were also delicious and very affordable. The hotel is a 5-minute walk from the park entrance, making it convenient for morning and evening photo shoots. We loved everything. If we come back, we'll stay here again.

GGuest UserStayed here for my hike from jinshanling to gubeikou. The location itself is great for visiting this section of the great wall. With just a short hike up the street you will reach the ticket office. Alternatively a driver could also be arranged.
After arriving the host immediately welcomed me. He also speaks english and was very helpful in planning my hike and sunrise photography. Overall a really nice and welcoming service.
The room itself was very modern and comfortable. Nothing really to complain about.
A huge plus was also the restaurant next door. Really great food with local ingredients.

The host and her daughter were remarkably gracious and attentive, and generously upgraded us from a standard room to a stunning suite. The entire space was thoughtfully designed — elegant, comfortable, and immaculately maintained. The beds were impressively spacious and plush, and the bathroom felt almost futuristic in both design and functionality.
The location is equally compelling, with the Great Wall just nearby — an unforgettable sight, especially at sunrise. A practical note: it’s wise to carry cash, as electronic payments may not work for foreign visitors in the area. Also, taxis can have some difficulty reaching the hotel directly due to a barrier some distance away, though most drivers manage to work around it.
All in all, a truly memorable experience — we would gladly return.

The staff is welcoming and helpful as it can be. 5 stars.
The room is small but okay. The bed is comfortable like most chinese beds. The bathroom is super tiny and had some plumbing problems also the grey water from the shower runs across the floor to the sink, bear in bind when you put dowm a towel for your feet.
The light in all rooms is very dark and everything in the room was laying under a urine smell caused by the aircon. That's the reason we would not stay here again.
The breakfast is great but the room is too small to fit all guests, so it gets super busy.
Plus point: you can tale your bicycle to the rooms.

GGuest UserWe stayed one night at Jinshanling Hanting B&B, and the location couldn’t be better—just a short walk from the Great Wall. It’s the perfect spot to catch both sunrise and sunset; the wall opened at 5 a.m. when we visited in early November. Breakfast was included, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We’d definitely recommend staying overnight for the better light and calmer atmosphere instead of doing a day trip. There’s also a great café nearby. To find the place: walk to the entrance gate, turn right, and it’s on the right side after about 30–50 meters.

GGuest UserWe were scared of large crowds at the wall, and followimg many online recommendation we found the Jinshanling section.
This hotel is at the great location a short walk from the mid enterance to the wall section, the Gubeikou train station is also very reachable from the Beijingbei (North) train station. It is also quite affordable to reach the place by Didi (550 yuan from the Beijing airport).
The place is clean, and the food really stands out as quite amazing, the prices are also very low, for room and food. Just tell the owner you would want a breakfast and you will be served one first thing in the morning. The ladies are also super nice and very hospitable to the foreign turists.

Uun_guillouVery friendly youth hostel in the center of Chengde. The location is excellent and you can do almost anything by feet. The bar is a nice touch as they have good beers and I was able to play dice with other guests. The atmosphere was nice and evrybody left before I went to bed at midnight. The staff is great and helpful as they allowed me to change room in order to flee a very rude guest that would listen to videos on his phone without earphones very loudly. I also was able to do my laundry for a cheap price but they could invest in more hangers.
