I contacted the front desk via the hotel landline, and they said they would send a cleaning lady to check. I looked through the peephole but couldn't see anyone, and there was no response when I asked who it was. The doorbell rang repeatedly for two minutes, then fell silent. I was too scared to go out and waited in the room for the cleaning lady to come, but she didn't call me back. I didn't know if anyone had come to check, so I called the front desk three more times using the hotel landline. The first two times it rang continuously without being answered, and the last time it just went dead. So I stopped calling the front desk and didn't dare to go out or sleep until around 9 AM when I went out to ask the front desk about the situation. They had changed shifts and didn't know anything about it. They checked the hotel landline and said they received a call at 2:30 AM and hadn't received any calls since, so there was no issue of no one answering. I really thought I was hallucinating because I hadn't slept well, so I asked to check the security camera footage. The front desk said they didn't have the authority or password to view it and would contact an engineer. I said that was fine, and the engineer would contact me when he arrived. Then, when I checked out at 10:50 PM, I asked the front desk again. They immediately called an engineer who said they wouldn't be there until 11:30 PM. I told them I had to leave and didn't have time, so I added them on WeChat and asked them to send me the security camera video. They sent me a two-minute video showing a man ringing my doorbell and then entering the room next door. The hotel's response was the same as above; they said the man next door went to the wrong room and apologized. That was it! I was terrified all night. Also, no hotel staff appeared in the two-minute video. So, after finishing my business, I went back to the hotel and requested to see the security camera video. The video did show a cleaning lady coming up to check on things, but the front desk hadn't given me any response. I had no idea what happened. I called the front desk three times, but no one answered. Now they say it's a problem with the hotel's landline and there's no record of the call; the time stamp shows a call received at 2:30 AM. Furthermore, when I inquired about the room next door, I learned that only one woman had registered, and she checked out at 7:30 AM, so the man who rang my doorbell hadn't checked in. I've made it clear that I have no demands, just a reasonable explanation, but that's how the hotel describes the situation. I'm posting this to warn others who are traveling alone and staying in hotels. Personally, I think safety is the most important thing when booking a hotel, regardless of other services! Choose hotels that require a room key for entry, hotels with working landlines, hotels that provide feedback, and hotels that address problems!"
