Certainly is bare bones, but one of my favorite places to stay when going out at night in the city. Since I live in San Jose, I don’t want to uber back and forth and staying here for $60 is perfect. It is super clean and the owners are very kind.

I had a wonderful stay at Hotel Nikko San Francisco! From the moment I arrived, the service was warm, professional, and attentive. The staff made me feel genuinely welcome—special thanks to the front desk team for their hospitality and efficiency during check-in and check-out. The room was spotless, modern, and incredibly comfortable, with a plush bed and thoughtful touches like soft robes and quality toiletries. I especially appreciated the quiet environment—it felt like a peaceful retreat in the heart of the city. The location is fantastic—just steps away from Union Square and public transport, which made exploring San Francisco very convenient. I also enjoyed the hotel amenities, including the indoor pool and spacious gym. Overall, Hotel Nikko exceeded my expectations in every way. I would absolutely return and highly recommend it to anyone visiting San Francisco for either business.

The hotel is very conveniently located for attending the conference at Moscone Center. It is less than 10 mts walk. There is a BART station within 2-5 mts walk. The hotel location is downtown and you will find homeless people and drug users nearby. Especially at night need to be careful. The hotel staff are extremely nice and helpful. I really like the hotel because of the service attitude of the staff. The rooms are decently big, have adequate space for luggage, clean and well maintained. The bathroom is small. There is no separate hot water kettle and we have to use the coffee maker. They provide free coffee and tea . The free wifi connection was fine in my room. There is a fantastic breakfast place right next door. We did not opt for breakfast with our room booking. But we ate there many days. Excellent food and service! Their house potatoes, french toast, omelettes and other dishes were excellent. Must try! There is a shopping center and multiple eateries near by. Tried a few different food options, but did not have time for shopping. Overall Pickwick is a very good hotel and is value for money, especially for business travelers attending events/conference at Moscone center.

It was great visiting the city of San Francisco again after 40 odd years but very depressing to see so many homeless and down and out people on the streets. Visited a couple of great diners, one just up the street from Herbert Hotel and did all the usual tourist things again!!

A well-decorated hotel, the front desk saw me with a child and suggested that I change to a multi-bed room for free, because I didn't bother to change. The toilet and bathroom are not in the room, so if you want to take a shower, you don't need to think about it. Breakfast was average. For San Francisco, where soil is at a premium, it is recommended to stay.

GGuest UserAs a vintage style hotel, it provides most of your needs. Wish there’s a fridge for long stays. The front desk staff is very friendly. Even though a continental breakfast is served, it hass an upgraded food selections including hot dishes, i.e. scrambled eggs, sausages, etc. I’ll revisit here next in town.
FFrancheskaMLocation is perfect! The public transportation is right outside the hotel. Hotel itself is really comfortable and clean. Soft pillows and beddings, regular cleaning of the room, complete bathroom amenities. Staffs are also polite and helpful. Would definitely come back here!
GGuest UserWe had an excellent stay. The bed was so comfortable and the service was so good. We didn’t realise breakfast was included and you can make free coffee, tea and hot chocolate in the foyer all day which was a blessing.
GGuest UserThe staff were friendly, and the room was spacious with a simple yet tasteful interior design. I also liked how big their bathroom was. There is free coffee and water, which was convenient. The courtyard has fire pits and couches for guests to cozy up, and there are smores that you can make during the evening.
GGuest UserDeducted 1 point from location as there were too many homeless people around that made us not feel safe when walking in or out of the hotel. The room itself were big enough for 2 people and I would commend the staff for being so accommodating helping us to check in early and checking if they have an available twin room available instead of just giving us a King bed when they noticed we were 2 friends together. No bellboy in the hotel so be prepared to lug all your luggages up to your room. They have free breakfast/snacks in the morning and coffee/tea. Overall satisfied with my stay!
GGuest UserSuper good for value in the centre of SFO. Decent choice of breakfast, fruits, yoghurt, croissant, etc Hot water available throughout the day. Clean room and comfy bed.
GGuest UserI had booked a single deluxe room; it was very spacious and I loved how there was hanging space and plenty of drawers. I was there for a week and so it was nice to be able to properly unpack and have my things organised. The room would be comfortable even for two people. The room did not have air conditioning but had a ceiling fan which I actually prefer to aircon; it was July yet the room never became too hot. The window was able to open and there was a screen mesh to prevent bugs entering. I asked for and got a kettle for the room to heat my own water. Stable free Wifi. There was a shared bathroom thus is was appreciated that was a sink in the bedroom (had toiletries, flannels and towels provided). The shared toilet and shower facilities were always clean and even though I was there a week there was never a time that I had to wait/they were occupied when I wanted to use them. The shower room had a curtain separating the wet and dry areas and there was plenty of hooks to hand items. Everywhere was always clean. It was very quiet except for sometimes being some noise from outside. There is a small basic kitchen area if you want to prepare some simple dishes ( I never used it), and a laundry where a wash and dry is very reasonably priced. The hotel is in a very good location and I found it ideal for exploring San Francisco. Powell street BRT is a direct line to the train station, there is a streetcar (F) which goes directly to the piers, and a bus (7) which goes along Fell Street to Golden Gate park and if you went to the end of the line it goes to the other end of Golden Gate Park/coast/beach. I walked to other areas. It is ideal if you plan to go to any concerts, and the International Art Museum of America (free entry) is only a couple of mins walk. There are many eating places in the surrounding streets including a food court with reasonably priced food – included an Ikea restaurant where hotdogs are one dollar. The hotel felt safe and secure. The front door is always locked and there is a key card to enter the hotel and the rooms. I appreciated that not once did the key card become desensitised. The hotel is in the Mission District and thus the area does have some homeless people around; you would not notice much during the day, though many more during the evening. I am a female travelling solo and I never had any problems with any people in the area and never felt unsafe. Evening during the evening the streets are so busy that you don’t feel vulnerable as there are so many people around. I could see from my bedroom window that through the night large crowds would congregate at the corner opposite the hotel, sometimes could be noisy, and they made lots of rubbish, however, everything was cleaned up and by the next morning there was no trace of it…that is a sign that the area is taken care of. Staff always friendly and helpful. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and would have no hesitation in staying again. There was no false advertising , and the facilities were what I expected based on the description, in fact, when considering the reviews, the hotel was better than I was expecting. If people want comfortable, clean basic accommodation you can’t go wrong with this.
