ibis Brisbane – Elizabeth Street: a fair, functional CBD stay The ibis Brisbane on Elizabeth Street sits right in the thick of the CBD, a short walk to Queen Street Mall, the river, and most of what central Brisbane throws at you. Location is its strongest card — if you’re in town for work, a conference, or a short stopover, it’s undeniably convenient. The hotel itself is… fine. This is a classic ibis: clean, practical, and unpretentious. Don’t come expecting boutique flair or resort-style comforts. Rooms are compact, the fit-out is basic, and everything works — which is really the point. One thing that does matter here is which room you get. Some rooms have genuinely good views over the Brisbane River or City Hall and feel brighter and more open. Others look straight into neighbouring buildings or internal spaces and can feel a bit boxed in. If a view matters to you, it’s worth asking at check-in or booking accordingly. Beds are comfortable enough for a solid night’s sleep, the bathroom is small but functional, and noise levels are generally reasonable given the central location. Staff are efficient rather than effusive, which suits the no-nonsense tone of the place. Bottom line: ibis Brisbane is a reliable, mid-range CBD hotel that does what it says on the tin. Nothing flash, nothing terrible — just a practical base in a very good location. The experience improves noticeably if you land one of the better rooms with a view.

Excellent Hotel with Great Location and Staff! I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The location is fantastic: just a 3-minute walk from the railway station, and close to the embankment, the city hall, and many shops and cafes. My standard room was spacious and quiet with a courtyard view. The reception staff were very friendly and efficiently solved any questions we had. A great addition is the very cozy bar-pub on the first floor – perfect for a snack, a drink, or meeting friends. Highly recommended!

LLast TouristLocation & amenities:
The location is the biggest asset of this nice independent hotel. It's near Toowong shopping center and the shops and restaurants that surround it, which include chemists & a 24 hour 7-11 convenience store. The hotel itself is home to the Katsuco Japanese restaurant on its ground floor- famous for its good Japanese food.
There is free parking for guests, but the lots are limited (approximately 25 lots). There is free street parking along Sherwood road on the same side as the hotel.
Hotel design, ambience, service:
The hotel lobby is cozy and compact, with a small seating area in front of the reception desk. Depending on the day of the week & time of day, the staff range from invisible to proactively polite & are generally nice. There is a lift to take you to your rooms over the three floors that it spans.
Room design, comfort, acoustics: (deluxe King)
The rooms are decently sized- with adequate room for luggage and sufficient points for charging. There is an ironing board, kettle, room safe, free tea bags, the usual soaps & conditioners and moisturizers provided. The bathrooms are well designed with a nifty smart/switchable/ dynamic glass looking into the bedroom. The shower head is a rain shower type - definitely giving it cred. The mattress and pillows are very comfortable indeed- standout & remarkable. There are blackout curtains which work well. As for the acoustics- overall decently quiet given the location at the corner of a busy crossroad. Noise from the corridor does seep in depending on your neighbors. There is also the usual mild hum & grumble from the bar fridge & whine from the air conditioner. The occasional street car cacophony can be heard during the day, but generally it's quiet at night. So a good night's sleep is mostly achievable.
Overall: At the risk of making it more popular than it already is, this is a highly recommended property outside the city, with free parking. Will return if in the area!
GGuest UserPublic transportation isn't very convenient, especially at night when returning to the hotel. Buses often run late, requiring a long, hilly hike. Daytime buses are available, but they're not very frequent. It's quite a distance up a hill from the central area, and quite far. The shower in the bathroom makes a strange mechanical noise when you turn it on, but having two sinks is a plus. The bed in the room had some black spots, but it was quite large. It's just a low floor, with no view or privacy from the window. The second floor faces a busy garage. The next morning, my credit card was inexplicably charged over $270, in addition to the $100 deposit. I emailed the manager, but there was no explanation, just an apology and a refund. It was very confusing.
LLogan2910Best thing about this hotel is its location.
Amenities are ok, they will provide dental kits and other amenities on request but not by default
Room is clean, with all the assessories.
Breakfast is ok, not too many options especially if you are on a long business trip for 6 days, and only have egg, bacon, sausage to cycle around.
AAnonymous UserFirst and foremost, the hotel's location is absolutely fantastic. It's incredibly convenient for transportation and very close to the city center and major attractions, making getting around a breeze. Whether you're traveling for business or leisure, this hotel is an excellent choice.
The hotel's overall environment is clean and tidy, and the lobby is spacious and bright. The front desk staff are warm, professional, and courteous; they proactively greet guests every time, making you feel right at home. Check-in and check-out were also incredibly efficient, with virtually no waiting time, making the entire process very smooth.
The room layout is well-designed, offering ample space and excellent natural light. The bedding was soft and comfortable, ensuring a good night's sleep. The bathroom was clean and well-maintained, fully equipped, and the toiletries were of good quality. What pleasantly surprised me most was the excellent soundproofing in the room – I couldn't hear any noise from the hallway or neighboring rooms, allowing for a truly peaceful rest.
The hotel breakfast offered a rich variety of options, including both Chinese and Western dishes. The ingredients were fresh and delicious, catering to all tastes. The servers were also very attentive, proactively asking if guests needed assistance, which left a very positive impression.
I also had the chance to experience the hotel's gym and swimming pool this time. Both were well-equipped and well-maintained, with a very clean and relaxing environment. The overall atmosphere of the hotel is comfortable and quiet, perfect for unwinding and rejuvenating.
In summary, this is a high-quality hotel with excellent service, complete facilities, and a beautiful environment. I highly recommend it for both business trips and family vacations. Next time I visit this city, I will definitely choose to stay here again!
LloveshoppingmamiThe hotel is quite old; the facilities, room amenities, and even the elevators are showing their age. The biggest and most serious issue is the terrible soundproofing in the rooms. If you're looking for a relaxing stay where you can sleep in until you wake up naturally, this hotel is definitely not for you! However, if you wake up at 7 AM every day, then this hotel might be perfect. The soundproofing is incredibly poor! You can hear conversations from next door very clearly. If there are kids around, it's an absolute nightmare, unbelievably noisy! Plus, the room doors slam shut with a very loud bang every time.
There were several families with children staying next to me, and every morning at 7 AM, it was a constant cycle of opening and closing doors, running, jumping, and shouting. I complained to the reception, but it only stopped for half a day before the running, jumping, and shouting started again. Eventually, I couldn't take it anymore and went down to reception to request a room change!
If the staff had offered me a room change after my first complaint, I would have praised them highly. Unfortunately, they completely ignored it until I couldn't stand it anymore and demanded a room change. Only then did they move me, which doesn't really meet the standard for hotel service and problem-solving.
Housekeeping wasn't very thorough; they only made the bed, didn't change the sheets, and sometimes remembered to change the towels, sometimes not. Also, the towels and sheets weren't very clean and had stains. As for vacuuming, it wasn't done daily; they only vacuumed if you asked them to, otherwise, they didn't.
On a positive note, the hotel staff were polite, friendly, and always smiling. The rooms were also reasonably spacious with enough room for luggage. And the location is right in the city center, which is very convenient.

GGuest UserIt was a bit painful from the get go checking in. You have to go to a different hotel a block over. There is nowhere to park to check in. I called the number to be put through to a call centre that isn’t on site.
Call 1: yes you can park in the visitor parking just buzz and they’ll let you in.
Call 2: while blocking the driveway I’m unable to find a buzzer that reaches reception. Operator sounds confused, I hang up and someone is coming out so I sneak in.
Call 3: I’m parked in visitor parks, go up the lift and come out at another building. She again sounds confused. If I go out the door I won’t be able to get back in without a fob, so I’m asking which way I should go. There are no signs to tell me how to get to Ivy and Eve apartments. I eventually find a worker who takes me around to reception. Sorted. Or so I think.
I check in with reception. The girl was really lovely and informative. So I think, until I reach the carpark of the next building I’m staying at. The sheet of paper she gave me says “your allocated car space is 131 and is located on 55. I drive in looking for level 55, car space 131. Neither of these exist.
Call 4: Where is my carpark? Am I missing something. Keep in mind every time I call I’m asked to give all my details so they can verify my booking so by now I’m pretty tired of it all. She finds my booking and says oh yes you’re in park 55 on level B1. (See photo for why I was confused!)
I drive around the carpark looking for a 55. It doesn’t exist. All carparks are labelled with a sign saying Art house and 4 numbers. Ok maybe it’s the last 2? Nope doesn’t exist. After driving around for a bit I realise there are numbers on the ground of the carpark that are completely different to the signs (I didn’t look at the ground because the signs said art house)
So finally I work out that this is my park. Another confused guest stops to ask me where his park might be and I explain it’s the floor ones not the art house signs. So I wasn’t the only one.
Ok so park the car, go upstairs to room 1106 which of course is on floor 10. Makes sense lol. As soon as I open the door I’m hit with a wet musty kind of smell. Like the place had been flooded and not allowed to dry out properly maybe? I opened all the windows and when that didn’t work I went and bought some air freshener to hide the smell a bit.
We left all the doors open all night and next day and the smell improved. The lounge chairs are not comfy if you’re looking for a stay in watch Netflix type staycay, but the beds are really comfy. The place was pretty immaculately clean so that was nice. And washer dryer were great to have.
If I had have known I’d need to go through all that checkin at another building I would not have booked. Maybe I missed the part that mentioned this? Ahh well we enjoyed our stay in general, it just didn’t get off to a good start.
GGuest UserStayed here twice. First time was really good, the second time the room had still some rubbish. The beds are very comfortable and the rooms quiet. Location is great, close to mega mall and public transport. Breakfast was simple - no cheese or yogurt - but ok. The only negative thing is the WiFi. It is slow and hangs sometimes. It also has a minimal quota.
GGuest UserThe staff were very helpful and welcoming. This wasn’t a bad stay by any means- just had a certain feel to it we didn’t like. The property itself has a really strong smell of old wood and beer, which is quite a lot to get used to. The rooms are decent sized, however did find that 7 rooms to one toilet and shower was a little hard to navigate at times. The toilet also constantly had the windows locked open which meant that people walking past outside could see in and be heard which is a little unsettling where privacy is concerned. The room itself had quite a few baby cockroaches in, and after looking found full insect traps in the room so suspect this may be an ongoing issue. The blinds over the windows were very loose also, meaning when laid in bed at night you could see both in and out of our room which was also slightly unsettling. Our room was equipped with a sink, kettle, and fridge which came in handy. The stay was okay and did us for the price, very historic and lots of images on the walls demonstrating so.
