"The hotel is a bit far from Banff Centre, but there's a bus stop right outside, and the hotel provides free bus tickets. We stayed in a room with a view and could see the snow-capped mountains from the balcony. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. However, I was disappointed with the housekeeping service; we stayed for two nights, and on the second day, our room wasn't cleaned, and toiletries and bar items weren't replenished. The air conditioning was also very noisy, and even though maintenance came to adjust it, there was no improvement."

Visit Bow Falls and don’t miss out on Surprise Corner. From gentle, sloping trails to ones fit for avid hikers, there’s something for everyone. There’s also world class golfing nearby at Fairmount Banff Springs. Perhaps world class skiing is what you are after, in which case a trip to Sunshine Village might be in order. Glacier Skywalk is fun for the whole family, while a tour of the Columbia Ice Field can’t be missed. How about a Grotto Canyon Ice Walk or horseback riding in the Rockies? A shot of romance can be injected into any trip with a helicopter ride or a horse-drawn carriage through the historic district. White water rafting on Kicking Horse River brings water adventurers to the region or you can watch the sun rise on a balloon tour. Business travelers to Calgary and Edmonton regularly stay at this Banff hotel to enjoy peace and quiet since Banff is primarily a tourist destination. The city caters to many convention businesses on day tours from nearby cities in Alberta, and is known for world class shopping. Home to Canada’s first National Park and Canada’s highest town at 4,540 feet above sea level, there’s always something exciting happening like the Banff Film Book Festival or Ice Magic Festival.

"On March 19th 2026 at noon, I called the hotel and spoke with a lady who seemed to be the manager. I told her that I couldn’t drive to Banff from Kamloops because of the road closure on Trans-Canada Highway 1 and Highway 93 due to the bad weather—heavy snow, a force majeure situation, Mother Nature herself! That lady didn’t want to cancel my reservation and give me a full refund. I asked her which road I should take, but she couldn’t answer. I had to take alternate roads to Jasper, Hinton, Evansvurg, Drayton Valley, Rocky Mountain House, Sundre, Cochrane, and finally arrived at the hotel around 2 a.m. That lady really should have not been working at the hotel."

"Right in the middle of town. The location is very convenient, right in the middle of town. The bakery I was looking for was within a minute's walk. It was convenient for me to go buy lunch when I was on a tour that didn't include lunch. The staff were friendly and the facilities were good. However, since it was a hotel in the city, the only view I could see from the window was of the parking lot."

Located in the heart of Banff National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the historic Fairmont Banff Springs stands as landmark in the picturesque alpine town of Banff, Alberta. Canada's - Castle in the Rockies - has been providing legendary hospitality for more than 125 years. This year-round luxury mountain resort offers a championship golf course during the summer, unparalleled skiing in the winter, the European-style Fairmont Spa, authentically local dining experiences and breathtaking views.

"If you visit Banff, you must stay at the Fairmont! It is a beautiful hotel that is more like a castle with a million-dollar view of the mountains around it. A nice perk is that all guests at the Fairmont receive free passes for the shuttles that get you around town, so need to worry about transportation. A great stay all by itself and surrounded by connection to all of the attractions close by: hiking trails, frozen lakes, glacier valleys, and of course the town of Banff itself."

"The room size was small and needed better planning on interior arrangements. Same goes for the bathroom. The room could have been better lit … dark gives gloomy impression and as if there’s something being hidden (like the floor carpet which we felt needed a better cleaning). The reception service is outstanding and people there are very helpful. They also have a fitness club and spa. The parking is in the basement and is easy. They also give complimentary bus tickets for those who want to explore places on bus. We didn’t need it as we had our own car."

"I recently stayed at Irwin’s Mountain Inn for a quick winter getaway, and overall, it’s a solid choice for those who want to be in the heart of Banff without the premium price tag of the luxury resorts. What I Loved: The Location: You really can't beat being right on Banff Avenue. It was a quick, scenic 5-10 minute walk to the downtown core for dinner and shopping. Plus, the ski shuttle stop is just steps away, which is a massive plus in January. The Amenities: After a cold day outside, the 8-person hot tub and dry cedar sauna were highlights. They were well-maintained and exactly what I needed to thaw out. The Staff: From check-in to check-out, the service was genuinely warm. They were happy to provide local tips and made the process seamless. On-site Dining: We grabbed breakfast at El Toro Restaurant inside the hotel. The food was surprisingly good—definitely a step above your standard hotel fare—and very convenient on a chilly morning. A Few Considerations: Noise Levels: As some other travelers have noted, the walls are a bit thin. I could occasionally hear activity in the hallways and the hum of the heating system, though it didn't ruin my sleep. Parking: The underground parking is a great perk (especially to keep the snow off the car), but it is limited and quite tight. If you’re arriving late in the evening during peak season, you might have to hunt for a spot. Room Vibe: The rooms are clean and functional, but they do feel a bit ”classic.” If you are looking for ultra-modern luxury, this isn't it—but for a cozy, budget-friendly mountain base, it hits the mark. Final Verdict: A fantastic mid-range option for winter travelers. It’s clean, cozy, and perfectly situated. I’d definitely stay here again for the convenience and the hot tub alone!"
