Great
RRobS.First off, do not trust Google Maps for directions. The directions take you up the alley behind the hotel. The hotel opens on the main street (Hwy. 119 is what Maps indicates). This is an absolutely great little hotel, well located, clean and everything about the hotel I noticed, well looked after. It has a small, functional onsen that I used. I was in their hostel section, a single bed, capsule style. A little tough for a creaky, bad knees, old person like me but a great stay. They have a small, affordable breakfast buffet (Oriental-style) for purchase that is decent with a variety of different dishes. And they have a machine that dispenses excellent, fresh coffees and other beverages. It is a 2-star hotel and I will give it a 5 star rating as a 2 star hotel. Very good little hotel.

GGuest UserThe room was spacious, the bed was comfortable, and the view was great. The free cocktail and coffee services in the lobby were nice, as well as the free drink bar (including one beer per person) near the entrance to the hot spring. The paid massage service was also good. The meals were decent, especially the grilled beef, which simply melted in my mouth. The restaurant staff welcomed us warmly and provided friendly service. Cons: The variety of hot springs was lacking, and the view from the hot springs was almost blocked, which was disappointing. The lockers for valuables used combination dials, and foreign guests often didn’t know how to use them, locking their room keys inside and struggling to reopen them. This was a major inconvenience. They should switch to a key-and-wristband system like other onsen hotels. The room itself felt like an old, once-grand mansion that had seen better days. The furniture had many scratches, and the surfaces were worn and peeling. It made me think it must have been impressive in the past. Still, the room was definitely more spacious compared to other hotels.

SShirley Fong 8Nikko Station hotel Classic located at a strategic location:-👍 (a) opposite its hotel ( cross the zebra crossing) is the entrance of JR Nikko Station 🚉 ( JR Nikko line 💚) -5-8mins walk (2) clean n neat modern Japanese bed with rather big bathroom (3) morning breakfast is at level one with 24hrs coffee n tea vending machine besides for hotel guests . Hotel guests can enjoy their slow slipping of coffee ☕️ n private chats at private area besides. (4) hotel breakfast is simple but its sufficient for both of us. We simply love to enjoy a big warm bowl of curry rice with hard boiled eggs 🥚 🥚 n some bread 🍞 n toasts. (5) Simply falls in love with its Sukura restaurant its Tempura Don. very delicious 😋👍 although its small . (6) Hotel is conveniently located along a long stretch of shopping streets with another Railway station ( Tohoku station 🚉) nearby. (7) Hotel is very near to Local bus-stop , local buses ,tourist heritage buses n stations.

GGuest UserThis was my first time staying at Asaya Hotel, and I booked a valley-side room in the Shuho-kan wing. While the hotel itself felt a bit dated and the room had a slight musty smell, it was impeccably clean, which made for a comfortable stay. There was just one major drawback. The 'valley-side' of the Shuho-kan wing, unbeknownst to me, faces the direction where several well-known abandoned hotels in Kinugawa Onsen are located. When I looked out from the balcony, I was met with the sight of a truly eerie abandoned hotel. To be frank, the view was far from pleasant and quite unsettling. It was genuinely frightening. Even from the onsen windows, those abandoned hotels were clearly visible, making the nights feel particularly eerie and scary. Aside from that, everything else was great; the buffet was thoroughly satisfying, and the service was excellent.

HHoSVery old school ryokan run by very friendly who has been working there for many years. Your name will be displayed on the board next to the entrance of the ryokan to show that they were currently welcoming these guests staying at the ryokan! We stayed there for 2 nights with free parking and we didn’t have to drive anywhere until we checked out as the ryokan is within walking distance to the 3 major world heritage listed shrines including The Toshogu Palace. Avoid room 312 or 313 (which we stayed) which are the smallest rooms. Those rooms in the middle parts are bigger and more comfortable. Do ask for any room facing the back of the ryokan and avoid those facing the front where you only see car parks with coaches coming in the morning bringing tourists to the shrines. The onsite Onsen for ryokan guests, breakfasts and dinners are the highlights. You’d love the traditional Japanese meals served there and you won’t be hungry. Would I come back to this ryokan again? Yes definitely due to its location and friendly staff.

AAnonymous UserEnjoyable stay at yutorelo nikko, which was conveniently located near lake chuzenji. Room was big and had a nice view of the lake. Hotel onsen was very legit and nice especially when the night was cold. There is free sake and alcohol in the lounge. Breakfast was a delicious set meal with drinks available. Hotel is walkable distance to kegon falls. Would recommend :)

GGuest UserThe exterior of the hotel is pretty, but the interior of the hotel is dated and needs a bit of updating. There were parts of the hotel that were completely shut down (maybe there are saving up enough money to one day renovate). However the facilities and rooms are well maintained and the onsens are beautiful and peaceful. There are 2 main onsens, that are separated by men and women. Each day the onsens are switched, in the morning you will go to one, and in the evening before dinner you can experience the other onsen. Onsite there is a really nice restaurant and gift shop that featured local products at reasonable prices. There is a 24 hour coffee/tea station that is free to use. It's a short 10 minute walk from Kinugawa Onsen Station. When you arrive they provide you a yukata to wear while you are staying at the hotel. The rooms are spacious with options for a western bed or japanese style (sleeping on the floor). We opted for the western bed to be higher off the ground as we thought it would be colder to sleep on the ground. Although the rooms are very well heated and was a bit too warm, that we needed to open the window to cool the room down. The rooms have nice views of the countryside. They provide a pitcher of ice water in the room and you can go to the front desk to refill with ice if more is needed. The bathroom is quite large and has both a shower and toilet in a separate room of the bathroom; although we mostly bathed in the onsen. There is a 7-eleven nearby that was open 24 hours, but otherwise there isn't much else around the hotel. Also the town of Kinugawa Onsen closes quite early, around 8pm it's quite deserted. We were there at the end of November 2024, and it seemed that the hotel was mostly unoccupied, so we felt like we had the place to ourselves. It was a very nice one night stay.

GGuest UserWe were absolutely thrilled with our stay at Kaniyu Onsen. The journey there was a Jochen Schweitzer experience in itself! By train from Kita Senju to Kinugawaonsen (1.5 hours), then by bus to Meotobuchi (1.5 hours) and then by Onsen Shuttle (20 minutes). Booking on site without knowing Japanese was an adventure! But everything worked out perfectly, thanks in part to the very helpful women at the tourist information office and what a beautiful landscape during the journey! When we arrived at the Onsen, English was spoken quite well and everything was explained in detail. One thing that was very important to us was that tattoos are tolerated, but you should be considerate of the other visitors. This means that you can swim when there is no one else in the pool or cover it with a towel. We didn't go into the large communal pool until very late. Before that we had only been in the small pools, where you are not seen very much. The dinner is also very unusual. As a European you have to get involved in it and for me, who doesn't eat fish, it was a bit of a challenge. But you only experience something like that once, so they do it!! We thought it was great and would come back anytime! Thank you for the great time!

JJCtravellerThe hotel is equipped with an open air parking block of around 15 spaces, which I assume it's first come first serve basis. When we arrived on a monday night (Mid august) around 9pm to check in there was only one parking space left. Check in -and out are done in a compartment next to the parking spaces, self serviced on a tablet with quite a few language options (english, chinese....). Our room was spacious and even came equipped with a projector (poppin Alladin) which the kids enjoyed for watching movies. There was a laundry machine inside the room, with laundry detergent provided, and drying rack. Enough clean towels were provided for our family during the stay so we did not need to wash the towels. However as there was no in room housekeeping service, the litter processing was done by ourselves (perhaps the only inconvenience we found in living in this motel).

TTsusiefirst of I would like to thanks always trip.com for very nice & convinient bookings everytime,we stay new sakura hotel, because the interior of the hotel is mostly sakura theme, the carpet, the gorgeous chandelier, the wall design, etc.or cherry blossom in Japan,& so very affordable prize,we spend only 18,000 yen for 2 adults, with 2 breakfast & 2 dinner.Very near from kinugawa onsen station, only 3 hrs.from Tokyo. We amazed the room,so very big for the two of us,for very cheap prize, can accomodate even 10 person, the buffet breakfast & dinner also is so good but the most I want to share is the drink all you can alcohol beverages for 1 hour, like beer, japanese wine, sours, all kinds of softhdrinks,I enjoyed for self service alcohol drink all you can!the hotspring also is very good but the cons is take care in the outdoor spring because of the concrete stairs, especially for the elderly when slippery, there's & a little bit far from our room, the young staff also at the counter is nice & most of them are young japanese lady,so very entertaining,so many free amusement like billiard, majong, etc.with a nice sorrounding sightseeng site.& last after check out they give 2000 yen discount coupon for the next visit,Thanks God & trip.com for a nice autumn tour moment in kinugawa onsen Tochigi Perfecture Japan
