The hotel is located on a hillside next to Nikko Toshogu Shrine. It is very close to Kamibashi Station. However, there was no place to eat nearby at night. It may be the off-season, and there is a Lawson supermarket only 15 minutes' walk away.

The hotel is located near Shenqiao. There are hotel signs on the roadside. You need to walk up a small slope. It is a neighbor of Jingu Hotel! Downhill from the hotel is the main road, with supermarkets, restaurants and other shops. Since the shops close around dark, buy what you need in advance. The room is very clean and bright, with views of the garden and distant mountains outside the window. The hot springs are super comfortable, and the open-air bath makes people feel comfortable. Staff is very helpful and hospitable. Public baths are clean and not too busy. The staff gave good explanation on the Onesen. We took the Japanese breakfast and it was OK but not great, we didn't find a lot of alternative dining options close by.
Location is great - next to the temples and close to the bus station.
The one thing I would improve would be the towels - They give only one towel per person which is not enough if you go 3-4 times a day to the public bath like we did, and there's no way to dry your towel quickly especially in the winter when it's freezing.
Overall we enjoyed our stay and the public bath was great.

Took the hotel pick up shuttle at the Nikko JR station, it took about 5 minutes to reach the hotel. There are quite a number of shops and restaurants nearby the hotel. The famous Toshogu which is the tomb of Tokugawa Ieyasuis located within 20 minutes with walk, and the Shinkyo bridge is even closer. The hotel is hiding up hill at the end of the main onsen street with not many rooms. Check in was smooth, we were offered a hot tea while waiting in the lobby lounge. We booked a rather big room located at the end of the hallway, with separate living room and bedroom. The bedroom has the western style beds and the massage lounger. The public bath is located further down the way through an outdoor walkway. The public bath and outdoor bath is relatively small but there are not many people using it. We are having the breakfast and dinner in the restaurant. The serving of yuba is interesting, you are given the food material and the stove to cook for yourself and served hot. We have the luxury dinner on the second night so we were seated inside a private room overlooking the garden. The food is sumptuous and well worth the money. There are quite many foreign customers patronizing the hotel during the period.

Location was right outside the Nikko Park and major tourist attractions. The dinner in the hotel was quite good but a bit expensive. The onsen was incredible too. Highly recommend this place.

This Ryokan is wonderful, amazing, delightful. Japanese style rooms, architecture is showing it's age a little but retains all of its charm and character. 1/2 board (breakfast and dinner) is the way to go. The meals were amazing, so well structured, theme was apparent, the food itself was an adventure. Onsen was really pleasant after walking through the world heritage parks.
