"Haze Peak Lodge: A 'Highland Pearl' in Design, an 'Unfinished Product' in Service My recent stay at Haze Peak Lodge left me with mixed feelings. Li Zhong's design remains exceptional, but the service and execution tarnished this 'highland pearl.' 【Design & Creation】 Li Zhong's touch makes this hotel's architectural language incredibly impactful. The facade's material application is textbook-perfect – the ruggedness of Luofeiyan stone, the warmth of wood, skillfully integrated with modern construction techniques, creating a powerful resonance with the vast landscape of Haze Peak. This deep interpretation and modern re-imagining of local culture are unique among boutique hotels in the ******* region. 【Construction & Maintenance】 However, the high standard of design didn't extend to the construction execution. Numerous details couldn't withstand close scrutiny: rough wall finishes, noticeable gaps in wood joints, loose hardware… many construction flaws marred the overall aesthetic. More regrettably, maintenance clearly hasn't kept up, with significant wear and tear already apparent in several areas. For a high-end boutique design hotel, this 'delivery quality' doesn't match its design ambition. 【Service Experience – The Biggest Pain Point】 This was the most disappointing aspect of my stay. The overall service level was very poor: from check-in to entering the room, there was no introduction whatsoever about hotel facilities or the surrounding environment, and staff showed a basic lack of attention to guests. Even more uncomfortable was seeing staff members gathered together, laughing and joking without any consideration for the guests, indicating an urgent need for improvement in their professionalism and service attitude. At this price point, the level of service received was perfunctory, making the value for money severely imbalanced. 【Ranking of Three Top-Tier Hotels】 If I had to rank these three representative hotels in the Shangri-La area, my personal experience would be: Jixia Shan (First) – Far superior in the completeness of its service system and attention to detail, truly achieving a 'design + service' dual-driven approach. Haze Peak Lodge (Second) – The design strength is undeniable, but the shortcomings in service dragged down the overall experience, with a clear gap compared to Jixia Shan. Pudu (Third) – Design that is merely superficial 'showing off,' with prominent issues in service attitude, and the lowest overall completion. 【Overall Review】 The dedication of bosses Zhang Hong and Zhang Jian to the project is evident in the design. However, the hotel industry is ultimately about 'people'; no matter how stunning the design, if the service doesn't keep up and construction maintenance is inadequate, it will remain an 'unfinished work.' I hope that upon my next return to Haze Peak, the Lodge can address these shortcomings and truly live up to its architectural beauty. Currently, I would recommend Jixia Shan first to guests who prioritize a comprehensive experience."

"I was incredibly satisfied with my stay! They even upgraded our room. The room was huge and very clean, with 24-hour oxygen supply. The large floor-to-ceiling window offered an amazing view of the thirteen peaks, and you could even see the main peak right from the bed. The rooftop terrace also had unobstructed views. The breakfast was good too!"

"Staying at Feilai Temple this time was all about seeing the 'sunrise over the golden mountains,' and choosing this hotel was truly a pleasant surprise. The room was spacious, the facilities were excellent, and parking was very convenient. Since Feilai Temple can be quite cold, we drove everywhere. Not only did we see the 'sunrise over the golden mountains,' but we also witnessed the 'sunrise over the silver mountains' and the 'moonlight over the silver mountains.' This was truly a perfect experience!"

"The room was spacious and the facilities were new. The cleanliness was also pretty good, definitely worth the price. It's conveniently located, about a 10-minute walk to the observation deck. The hotel also has parking and EV charging stations, which is great for self-driving guests. They even provide oxygen concentrators. The owner is very nice, and there's an à la carte hot pot restaurant on the first floor. I'd definitely stay here again next time."

"This was truly a moving stay! We checked in during Chinese New Year, and because of a flight delay, we didn't arrive until after midnight. The owner came out in the middle of the night to help us with our luggage, turned on the oxygen machine for us, and even brought us instant noodles – absolutely thoughtful! What was even more touching was when they later found out we wanted to go to the observation deck the night before to secure a parking spot. They proactively offered to pick us up, knowing that walking would involve an uphill climb and be quite tiring. My goodness, they offered to pick us up! Even though it was only a 5-minute walk, with the altitude and the climb, the owner's thoughtfulness was incredible and brought tears to my eyes. Getting back to the point, the hotel's location is excellent. The rooftop terrace goes without saying, and the interior of the guesthouse is also absolutely amazing. I've attached photos – perfect for those 'once-in-a-lifetime' shots!"

"Staying one night in Wunongding was absolutely worth it! We got incredibly lucky and woke up to the most stunning 'Golden Mountain in the Sunlight' view the next morning. Watching the sun slowly illuminate the Meili Snow Mountain was a truly breathtaking experience that you have to see to believe. In that moment, all the travel fatigue just melted away, making the journey completely worthwhile! The hotel's location is fantastic; you can see the snow-capped mountains right from your window, no need to fight for a spot with crowds. The room was clean and comfortable, and it was very quiet at night. In the morning, you can even catch the sunrise right near the hotel. The owner and staff were exceptionally warm and helpful, advising us on the best viewing times and even arranging thoughtful little details. It was a perfect experience. Witnessing the full 'Golden Mountain in the Sunlight' in Wunongding is truly the most unforgettable memory of our Yunnan trip. Five stars, highly recommended!"

"The hotel's location is excellent, right across from the Wunongding viewing platform for Meili Snow Mountain. You can directly view the snow-capped mountains from your bed on the balcony. If you're taking photos, a white pagoda in front might obstruct the view, so you'd need to go down to the viewing platform below. The hotel facilities are very comprehensive, including an oxygen concentrator and a humidifier. The decor style is both modern and incorporates ******* elements. During the Spring Festival, the hotel's dinner is a set menu, requiring reservations, costing around 270-280 RMB for three people. The dining area features a long table, which feels very ceremonial, and there are two fireplaces in the back that create a medieval ambiance when lit. We stayed here for two nights, and on the second evening, we ordered hotpot. The owner even gave us an extra platter of beef, and we also ordered a bottle of local ice wine, which tasted quite good. Breakfast is a set menu, with rich milk and rice noodles served in ceramic pots; both were delicious. The hotel's exterior is the white building on the far left of image 4 below. We stayed for two nights, originally planning for a backup day in case we missed the 'Golden Mountain in the Morning Sun' phenomenon, but we were incredibly lucky to witness it beautifully on both days. The scenery was absolutely stunning."

"The hotel's location is excellent. It has its own private viewing platform on the back hill, perfect for photo ops. It's also very convenient to go see Meili Snow Mountain (Rizhao Jinshan) in the morning; just take the elevator to the 5th floor and cross the sky bridge to the back hill platform. On the day of check-in, there was even a free photographer to take pictures 📷! The rooms are very comfortable, with a range of prices available, including 8-person hostel dorms. Parking at the hotel is also convenient! All the staff are incredibly enthusiastic and helpful 👍👍👍"

"If you're staying in Feilai Temple, you absolutely have to choose this hotel. Having stayed in so many hotels, I believe the most important things are the facilities, environment, and service. The environment and facilities are absolutely top-notch. The room directly faces the Meili snow mountains, and the unobstructed view from the 7th-floor terrace for photography gets a perfect score. Secondly, for this price point, the hotel service definitely needs to be up to par. From handling luggage, room introductions, to the restaurant where they carefully ask about your taste and if anything needs adjusting, and the cafe butler preparing hot tea for every guest when photographing the sunrise over the golden mountains in the morning. It happened to be our birthday during our stay, and the butler recommended a cake shop in the nearby county and even helped us pick it up on the day of check-in, free of charge. These small details just make you feel like your money was well spent."

"The hotel's location is excellent, we were able to watch the golden sunrise over the Meili Snow Mountain direct from the room's balcony. It was also a short walk to the public viewing platform and the restaurants/cafe areas. We have booked the hotel to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary & I requested for special room decor to surprise my husband. Due to some internal miscommunications, the housekeeping side did not deliver. However, the duty manager in charge 常志伟 was quick to make amends offering us complimentary bottle of wine & dinner at the restaurant. He was responsive and constantly checked in with us to ensure that our stay was pleasant and needs met. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and happy to recommend the hotel to friends and family."
