Once Upon a Time in Meili

I wasn't feeling well when I first arrived at Feilai Temple, but luckily the owner, Brother Liao, quickly came to my aid. I was able to relax, oxygenating and reading Brother Liao's great works, while gazing out at the snow-capped mountains from the window all afternoon. Oh, and the hotel's terrace offers a spectacular view of the 'Golden Mountain at Sunrise'!

Staying one night at Feilai Temple, choosing Meili Wangshi was absolutely the right decision. Upon arrival, the front desk lady warmly helped us with our luggage and gave us an A4 printout of the parking lot location. She also enthusiastically recommended bookstores and viewing spots we wanted to visit! Photo 1 shows the snacks and mineral water available for guests on the third-floor public area, feel free to take what you need (bottled water is already provided in the room, of course). Photo 2 is a picture of the room taken from the doorway, where you can see the snow-capped mountains through the window. Photo 5 is the telescope, a great tool for viewing the snow mountains. Photo 6 is the Feilai Temple viewing platform, taken from the balcony – essentially, staying at Meili Wangshi is like staying right on the viewing platform. Photo 9 shows the AED outside the hotel, which is one of the few AEDs available in public areas of Diqing Prefecture. Photo 10 shows the breakfast; you can always ask for more if needed, but we found the portion size to be just right! Watching the sunrise over Meili Snow Mountain from your room's balcony or the rooftop terrace offers excellent views!

The room was clean and tidy, and the view from the observation deck was excellent. I successfully caught a glimpse of the 'Golden Mountain bathed in sunlight' (Rizhao Jinshan).

Great location, and the room was very clean and tidy. The breakfast, in particular, was a fantastic Western-style meal. I also really liked the tableware. Eating breakfast in the restaurant while looking at the Meili Snow Mountain was just amazing! I'll definitely choose this place again on my next visit.

The hotel's location is fantastic, right behind and above the Feilai Temple viewing platform, just across the street. This means watching the 'Sunrise over Golden Mountain' phenomenon from the hotel's fourth-floor terrace is even better than from the Feilai Temple platform. We were so lucky to witness the magnificent spectacle of the golden sunlight hitting the mountains in the morning. The hotel has a restaurant, so we had dinner there. Breakfast was a set Western-style meal, very exquisite and delicious. The room was generally very clean, and you could see Meili Snow Mountain right from the room. I also want to thank the owner for placing many tripods on the fourth-floor terrace for guests to use when photographing the 'Sunrise over Golden Mountain,' which really helped us capture some great shots.

The room offers a view of Meili Snow Mountain, and you can also step out onto the balcony for great photo opportunities. However, the bathroom had a noticeable odor in the morning, similar to a sewer smell.

First off, the hotel owner was incredibly kind and understanding. We had originally booked two twin rooms for four people, but two of our group fell ill with altitude sickness and couldn't make it. According to policy, canceling one room would have incurred a 30% charge. However, after hearing our situation, the owner proactively offered a free cancellation, which I truly appreciate. Secondly, the hotel really pays attention to the details. For example, the rooms come equipped with electric blankets, binoculars, oxygen concentrators, and even high-quality tissues. The bathroom has a heater/ventilator, and the Western breakfast is both generous and delicious. Lastly, the hotel is located in the first row, offering unobstructed views of the Meili Snow Mountain directly from the rooms and the rooftop. The rooftop even has tripods available for guests. We were very lucky to witness the stunning 'Golden Mountain in the Morning Sun' phenomenon on Meili Snow Mountain. Tashi Delek! 🙏

The bedding in the room was excellent, and the electric blanket and heater kept us warm and cozy. We had a great view of the snow-capped mountains from our balcony. The hotel is conveniently located near scenic spots and a food street, making dining very easy. However, the parking lot is a bit far from the hotel, which was inconvenient. The price of over a thousand yuan for this room and its amenities is way too high! Too expensive! Not worth it!
