Great
GGuest UserThe taxi from the pier cost 250 baht. The beach right in front of the hotel is fantastic, and the male attendant who manages the towels was really good – he's the reason I gave the last 100 baht as a tip. His enthusiasm also led us to book a night squid fishing trip for 9 people. However, all the staff here seem to have two different attitudes: one for Western guests and another for Chinese guests. While everyone else managed basic politeness, the female server in the restaurant (pictured in photo 2) was incredibly rude to us. This is my fifth time vacationing in Thailand, and I've also traveled to the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Mauritius, the Maldives, and Hamilton Island, but this is honestly the first time I've encountered a staff member so rude. She pointed her finger at me and loudly demanded that I push the water bottle from the middle of the table to against the wall. I was completely stunned. Upon check-in, they asked for 500 baht per night for an extra bed for our 6-year-old. Since the three of us could comfortably share the king-sized bed, we declined and only paid for the child's breakfast, which was 200 baht per day. One evening, we also encountered teenagers on the beach who were indiscriminately bullying kids playing there. I never even saw something like this in Australia, yet it happened on Koh Samet. Thankfully, my English speaking skills are decent, and after a big argument, he ended up yelling that he was going to call the police. Overall, I still wouldn't recommend booking a hotel here. The pricing attracts a certain type of clientele, and since there are many very cheap hotels nearby, the beach attracts all sorts of tourists.

JJOYXJEighteen years ago, I visited Koh Samet and stayed in a Saikaew bungalow, which left me with wonderful memories. So, on my return trip this year, I chose Saikaew again, but this time I stayed in a pool room near the swimming pool. The ground-floor pool rooms are quite spacious. The bathroom even has a separate small vanity, and the wardrobe is built into the dividing wall between the bedroom and the bathroom. Each room also has a large sofa by the window, which can be used as an extra bed if needed. The only downside was that the lighting in the bedroom was too dim. The hotel staff were all very friendly, and the pizza in the bungalow area was delicious. That part of the beach is rocky, so you can see many small fish when you go down to the water. There's also a heart-shaped tree by the beach 😊 The sand on White Sand Beach is very fine, and the fire show on weekend evenings is excellent!

CChris 王墨迪Overall the hotel has certainly fallen over the past 3 years and it’s pretty sad to see this happen, if you’re a single traveler or a couple I would recommend but I couldn’t recommend the hotel to families in its current state. Management: Great management they listen to complaints, they are responsible and try to solve all issues. Sadly the management don’t have so much to work with these days. General staff: A large percentage of the staff are Cambodian and living in limbo with the current issues between both countries. With the exception of one or two Cambodian staff most are either depressed and miserable or damn right rude, unhelpful and disrespectful. (The floor manager explained this himself) Rooms: Nice and simple rooms the do the job but aging fast. The rooms look good but are not high quality materials and it shows the labor and material quality is low and cheap. Showers have virtually no pressure when the hotel is busy and the water won’t reach higher than luke-warm. Location: I have to say it’s one of the best locations on the island when considering location and facilities and I guess this is their main selling point. They have shops, bars, restaurants, coffee shop and more. Patrons: Most of the year the majority of visitors are going to be Tha and Asian, they are respectful, they have manners and they will be great to holiday alongside. During Christmas to New Year there were too many rude Europeans especially Swedish tourists, these tourists camped and took over large areas of the bar and restaurants, they moved around furniture, they were rude and disrespectful to other tourists leaving trash noise and mess wherever they visited. (Staff and management ignored) Note: This used to be a great hotel and I have continuously visited over the past several years. Unfortunately I have begun to see a degradation of the hotel, the attitude towards western tourists (due to poor behavior of westerners) as well as issues related to the diplomatic issues between Cambodia and Thailand. I due hope this improves in the future. With new staff or new immigration laws as well as new investment into the hotel it could easily thrive once more.

__WeChat47142****A really great hotel! Just rent a scooter to get around. It has its own private beach and a good-sized area with a pier. Definitely worth a return visit.

NNarichThe room was spotless and beautifully decorated. The location was convenient, and the breakfast was outstanding. Upon check-in, we encountered an issue with the door lock, but the hotel promptly arranged a room change. The front desk staff handled the situation with great efficiency and professionalism. Overall, it was a wonderful stay.

KKiTTiMA K.If you’re looking for a place of relaxing, hearing the whispering of waves, focus in yourself, here is the place! Recommended! 🌟 I had a beautiful time here since my first step in till the day of step out. 🥰 welcoming with the white tea aroma had already impressed me. My room is a bit small for two but trust me! You don’t wanna stay in the room all day while the beautiful nature is calling outside. Apart from wonderful view right in front of my room, you can have your own moment of sunrise every morning, cozy and nice relaxing a whole day long, walking to see the sunset is less than 10mins. There is great service and the room keeps cleaning which they have never disturbed your staying. They serve nice breakfast here both international buffet and Thai style. This place might be far away from other happening restaurants in the busy beaches but their dishes are acceptable, Thai dishes are good taste, fresh pizza served right from the oven while drinks, cocktails 🍹are good here! Some missing in the menu but I think they hear it. 😉

WWudangzhangerfengI stayed in a standalone Thai-style bungalow, which was really nice, but the birds outside started chirping at 5 AM and it was a bit noisy. Every evening there were beach fire dance shows. The hotel restaurant is right by the beach, so you can sit there all day with a beer or coffee. The only downside is that the breakfast is pretty mediocre, haha.

JJules66This is a good low budget option to experience island life, but not that low budget £60 per night ( January 2026) We are very familiar with island life in Thailand and appreciate that some things just don’t work as well. The location of Malibu Samed Resort is gorgeous, it’s more or less situated on the beach of the small quaint Wong Duean Bay. There are several beach restaurants available, the vibe is chilled, without the drinking or ******** culture. It’s lovely. Our welcome was warm, the staff were great and happy to help with our luggage. Our room is small 16 m² with 2 single beds, some hanging and storage space. It has a rustic feel to it. There is a fridge which is always welcome, tea and coffee making facilities, which we always appreciate, as well as a safety deposit box & flat screen TV. The bed and pillow are comfortable but not sumptuous. Towels are provided and I would say are of typical island quality. However the shower was an issue, obviously water is limited on the island and taking a hot shower was challenging but actually having a good supply of water either in the evening or morning was very hit and miss. Missed more often, it gets frustrating when you can’t have an adequate shower, that’s one of the reasons we move about frequently. Breakfast is of limited quality but there are a variety of options including cereal, hot food both western & Thai. Toast cereal and tea & coffee. The pool area was hardly used during our stay so a nice quiet retreat from the beach was available.

GGuest UserLa Lune on Koh Samet... it was alright, but nothing to rave about. When we entered the room, it wasn't cleaned well – there was sand on the floor and even in the bed, which made sleeping quite uncomfortable. The pool, however, was really good, but room service barely worked, and breakfast was just so-so. The beach, though, was absolutely beautiful, with plenty of space and sun loungers, so that made up for some of it. Overall: okay, but it could easily have been better. 🌴✨

GGuest UserThe most important thing about this place is its owner. Alex is a wonderful and friendly local islander. He truly puts his heart into what he does and does everything possible to make your stay as comfortable as it can be. Have a problem? Just talk to Alex and he’ll do his best to help. Need advice? Ask Alex! I think the main idea is clear As for the place itself, it’s calm and quiet, yet close to the central part of the island where all the main shops are located. The beach is a 3-minute walk away, another one is about 5 minutes away — everything is nearby. The hotel has its own bar and a private area, peaceful and relaxing. The main issue is mosquitoes, but that’s not really the hotel’s fault — after all, there’s nature right behind the fence, and a very unusual one at that. We even saw a giant stick insect on the property for the first time ever, lol 🙂 The bungalow has all the basic essentials: a bed, air conditioning, a toilet, a shower, and a kettle. It might be nice to have a wardrobe or some storage for clothes, but that’s just a small nitpick. If you’re not picky and don’t need five-star service, but appreciate a warm and genuine welcome, I can highly recommend this place! Thank you, Alex — if we ever come back to Samet, we’ll definitely stay with you again!
