The hotel's location is excellent, close to Shanghai Railway Station in the city center, making it very convenient for getting around.

This InterContinental is the one I've stayed at most often in Shanghai, but this time was also the least comfortable experience.

The XX21 room assigned to me this time was a type I'd never stayed in before. It was very spacious, neat, and clean, and the bed was comfortable. The only hardware issue was that the round decorative painting behind the desk made a deafening noise in the middle of the night (see video). This didn't happen on the first night, but on the second night, it lasted for about half an hour starting past midnight. I initially thought it was the air conditioning, but even after turning it off, the noise continued. The baffling part was that it only occurred in the dead of night, never during the day…

Furthermore, I had terrible neighbors during this stay. On the first afternoon after checking in, I heard thumping noises outside my door, appearing at intervals. Looking through the peephole, I saw that it was the child next door, and the noise was made when the door wasn't fully closed but slammed against something. After some investigation, I figured out it was likely the deadbolt's 'tongue' being extended and hitting the door frame when the door closed (as shown in the last picture). While this noise might be tolerable during the day, it started around midnight on both nights of my stay and continued for over an hour, consistently happening at that specific time.

Guest behavior is something the hotel can't control; it's a matter of individual etiquette…

I can only say I was unlucky this time, as I've always stayed on the executive floor at this hotel, but this time I wasn't assigned an executive floor room.

A huge thank you to our butler, Teresa Tong, for making our entire trip an amazing experience! From the pre-arrival communication and introductions to the reminders about the 'Flying Man' show, light show, and cliff show timings after check-in; arranging suitable pillows and providing goodnight desserts in the evening; and even reminding us about breakfast times – her attention to detail was exceptional!

The 'World Architectural Wonder' – the InterContinental Shanghai Wonderland hotel – is built within an abandoned quarry pit 88 meters below sea level. Designed by the same architect as the Burj Al Arab in Dubai, it's a breathtaking fusion of cliffside waterfalls and architectural marvels. Every photo taken here looks like it belongs in a magazine!

I had a wonderful stay! I was lucky enough to be upgraded to a better room for free, and they even prepared a lovely little cake as a surprise. The upgraded room was much more spacious and comfortable. The cake was delicious too – fine texture and not too sweet; you could really feel the hotel's thoughtful touch. Throughout my stay, both the front desk and guest services team were incredibly warm, professional, and attentive, with quick responses to everything. Thanks to the hotel for this unexpected surprise. I'll definitely choose to stay here again next time I'm in Shanghai!

Top-notch! I'd been here before with my parents, and this time I brought my girlfriend – the experience was excellent! The room has a classic feel, and some of the furniture shows its age, but it's incredibly tidy! The bathroom is very spacious and clean! There's just something so comfortable about a genuine five-star hotel. The service was superb; they even gave us a late check-out and extra free parking time!

This InterContinental hotel, steeped in history and nestled within a 55,000 square meter French garden, offered a truly memorable stay. The biggest highlight wasn't the room, but rather Steven He from the Club InterContinental front desk.

He was a man of few words, with a reserved demeanor, yet his service was impeccable:

✅ He thoughtfully introduced the hotel's century-old history (the former Morris Gardens from 1917).

✅ He recommended fun places to visit in Shanghai, giving me inspiration for my next trip.

This kind of ”understated yet incredibly useful” service is exactly what a heritage luxury hotel should provide.

🍸 Executive Lounge: As mentioned in a previous review, there's still room for quality improvement.

🌳 55,000㎡ Garden: With ancient trees, red-brick villas, and French lawns, it's a unique urban oasis in the city center.

🚗 Buggy service was readily available for transfers between the main building and the Club InterContinental building.

💡 If you want to experience authentic old Shanghai, stay here; if you want to experience genuine InterContinental service, look for Steven He.

My family came to Shanghai for a trip, and we looked at many hotels. Hotel prices in Shanghai have gone up quite a bit during the summer vacation, but this hotel's price-performance ratio is still quite good. InterContinental quality is always guaranteed. It's located right by the Huangpu River; just go downstairs, turn right, and cross the street, and you're on the riverside promenade. It's about a ten-minute drive to the 'Three Piece Suit' (Lujiazui skyscrapers), the Science and Technology Museum, and the East Pavilion of the Shanghai Museum, which is very convenient. We were upgraded to a river view room on the 30th floor. As soon as we entered, we saw the cleaning staff cleaning the glass curtain wall from the outside – they work so hard in the scorching summer heat. The breakfast was good, with a variety of Chinese and Western dishes, and the gym facilities were comprehensive. Overall, it was great, and we'll definitely come again.

From August 8th to 10th, we stayed for three days in the Astronomical Themed Suite during a typhoon. Although the fireworks show was canceled, the indoor activities were plentiful. The hotel's overall hardware was excellent, and the 88-square-meter suite was very spacious. We received a complimentary travel photoshoot (the photographer was super nice and took amazing pictures) and access to the executive lounge, VR experiences, and tickets to the Shanghai Astronomy Museum on Sunday, which are incredibly hard to get. The kids loved the indoor pool. The outdoor pool, though closed due to the typhoon, was beautiful and perfect for photos. We also tried restaurants like Whale and Ox, and Cai Feng Lou, all of which were very good.

Everything was great, from the front desk to the service and room cleanliness. One afternoon, I returned to my room just as the cleaning was finished. A few minutes later, a staff member even knocked on the door to check if everything was satisfactory with the cleaning, which I assume is part of their quality control. Very impressive! Hotel guests also get a discount when booking the dinner buffet at the front desk.

This place is so convinience, the location in between dubai marina and jbr beach so you can go everywhere by walk. If u drive it’s easy to park and drive as well. The hotel is clean and the staff as well so friendly.

This hotel truly lives up to its name as a family-friendly resort. The staff at all levels are incredibly kind and friendly, providing exceptional service. Everyone greets you with a warm smile. I want to give a special thank you to my room attendant, Aggie, for her meticulous care. She treated us like family, being both friendly and polite. She helped us resolve every issue that came up during our stay promptly and efficiently, and ensured all the room facilities were perfectly arranged. She deserves high praise! The room was tidy and clean, with ample facilities. If we needed anything added or replaced, we could contact the room attendant immediately, and the efficiency was absolutely superb.

The most attractive feature is undoubtedly the hotel's beach pool. The kids played all day and didn't want to leave. The soft white sand was specially imported from Hainan Island. The lifeguards tirelessly watched over the children's safety in the pool, even under the hot sun. Don't miss out on the other kids' play facilities either. The hotel's breakfast buffet is also a must-try; it was a pleasant surprise, especially the freshly squeezed customizable fruit and vegetable juices. The variety of food could rival a dinner buffet. To fully enjoy these exquisite facilities and delicious food, it's best to stay for several days.

I specifically chose to stay at the InterContinental Shenzhen with my family for a weekend getaway, and the ice and snow park package offered incredible value for money. The overall experience far exceeded my expectations. The hotel's facilities are brand new and spotless, and the heated pool has clean water with a dedicated shallow area for children, making it very safe for kids to play. The 24-hour gym is well-equipped for a quick workout whenever you have some free time. The rooms are brightly lit and spacious. After communicating with Guest Relations' Alfreda in advance, children's amenities were thoughtfully prepared, and Linda provided attentive and warm service. The breakfast selection was diverse, catering to both adult and children's tastes, with exquisite offerings. In our free time, we could take the shuttle bus to the Ice and Snow World, and returning to the hotel to relax after playing was particularly enjoyable. Winnie was gentle and polite, and food deliveries could be sent directly to the room by robot, which was both convenient and hygienic. Although the hotel is a bit far from the city center, its quiet and comfortable environment makes it perfect for a short leisure trip with kids. The whole family had a very comfortable stay, and it's definitely worth revisiting.

I usually love staying at InterContinental hotels, but this trip was truly the best in terms of both my personal experience and the environment! I was fortunate to participate in a training session thanks to Teacher Daqi's team, and that's how I ended up staying at this hotel. The hotel Teacher Daqi chose has been my favorite among all my travels so far. It was supposed to rain those days, but miraculously, the rain stopped, and the weather was beautiful. In the afternoon, I enjoyed the sea breeze on the beach and spent a long time just relaxing. It was breathtakingly beautiful and I'm so grateful. The hotel also offers yacht experiences and other recreational activities, and the food is delicious – I highly recommend it! I rarely write reviews voluntarily, but I'm truly grateful. If I have another chance to visit Shenzhen, I'll definitely stay here again! In fact, I'm very thankful for this hotel. It's clean and comfortable, and I'm very grateful to Teacher Daqi and everyone at the hotel. Thank you 🙏
