Hotels with Bars in Taichung

Whenever I'm on a business trip to Taichung, I always stay here. I used to stay at the Howard Plaza Hotel next door, but ever since I discovered this place, there's been no looking back. I love that they have a sauna, and the rooms are spacious, quiet, with a minimalist design, and an open view. The breakfast buffet is also quite good. Once, I chatted with a guest in the elevator who turned out to be a local resident. He uses this hotel as his 'Club House,' coming here for the gym, sauna, and swimming pool – it seems like a great option for him too.

I wrote in my initial booking that this was an Anniversary trip, I was quite surprised that the hotel did not do nor acknowledge such things and that quite bothered me. First impressions do lasts and I also had an incident in their restaurant that serves buffet, where there was a insect (almost cockroach like) in the soup which was honestly very shocking for a 5 star restaurant but the recovery of how they handled was not great and no follow up was done. Overall, I wasn’t as happy staying here as I thought I would. But I won’t definitely be coming back.

I think I got a free upgrade to executive level. From a queen to king sized bed!!! Cleanliness good, service good, public transport nearby good, atmosphere good. I love everything about my stay, no complains at all! I am definitely going back to this hotel again next time!!!!

This was my first time bringing my mom to Taichung, and we chose to stay at the Howard Plaza Hotel Taichung. The room was huge, with two large beds, easily accommodating four people. It's truly great value for money. I'll definitely choose to stay at the Howard Plaza Hotel again next time I'm in Taichung.

I had a fantastic stay at Moxy Taichung. The hotel has a fun, modern, and energetic atmosphere that makes it stand out from traditional hotels. The stylish interior and vibrant common areas created a welcoming environment from the moment I arrived. The room was clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed. Although it wasn't very large, the space was used efficiently, and the bed was very comfortable. Everything felt new and well maintained. The staff were friendly, enthusiastic, and always ready to help. Their positive attitude made the stay even more enjoyable, and the check-in process was quick and easy. The location was convenient, with easy access to restaurants, convenience stores, and public transportation. It was a great base for exploring Taichung. Overall, Moxy Taichung is an excellent choice for travelers looking for a stylish, comfortable, and affordable hotel. I would definitely stay here again on my next visit.

Great for family trip. The service of room was satisfying and quite fast. As soon as we enter our room in third floor, we noticed the size of slippers provided was too large. To our surprise, they took care of the problem almost immediately. I will give the service five star. As for the swimming pool, the quality of water is also good enough for children in 6-12 age group. BTW, thanks for the swimming pool service people. They gave us medication for mosquito biting in emergency. Surely recommended for family trip destination.

🅿️ Parking: Since I was driving, I parked on the 7th floor and above of the Sunday Tiandi Outlet. You can park first and then check-in. The front desk will provide a paper slip, which makes it very convenient to enter and exit the parking lot during your stay. Pros: ❶ Great location, very close to the hotel ❷ It's free. Cons: ❶ The parking lot is quite small, so you have to keep circling up ❷ Since it's a department store parking lot, it can get very crowded sometimes, and you have to wait for the elevators (on the day I visited, two out of three elevators were out of order) ❸ You need to register when you exit, and sometimes staff will patrol, so you have to wait. Hotel Location: Pros: When you open the map, it's close to all the popular attractions. Even if some places are further away, public transportation is very convenient. Cons: At night, in the direction of the convenience store, there are clubs or other establishments...? A group of people gather there. I suggest going with a companion if you need to buy things at the convenience store (this point varies from person to person). Hotel: Pros: ❶ The front desk staff are very helpful ❷ When checking in, you can get combs, razors, and toothbrushes (🆓) at the front desk ❸ There's no bottled water, but there's a water dispenser outside the elevators where you can fill your room's mug (you can also get free drinks at the front desk, the cocoa is delicious) ❹ The environment is very clean and pleasant ❺ You can arrange for housekeeping to clean the room. Cons: ❶ There were mosquitoes, so bring insect repellent. Room: Deluxe Studio Suite (the one in the far corner to the right of the elevator on the 7th floor) Pros: ❶ The environment is clean, and the facilities seem quite new. Cons: ❶ The table and chairs are hard and small ❷ The soundproofing is poor; you can hear conversations loudly from the hallway ❸ The bathroom takes up one-third of the room and isn't completely dry/wet separated. Although the bathroom space is large, the sink is tiny and cute. Suggestion: This room type is suitable for one person; it feels a bit cramped for two.

Set in I’m assuming an old hotel. The dorm is a little cramped but I liked the privacy of the pods. The toilets and showers are clean and modern. The common area is a little uncomfortable - just a tables and chairs set up. Could be a little more homely. But overall for the price I it’s a good place to stay. The door on the room is very heavy so makes a lot of noise when people are going in and out

This time I stayed at the Ful Won Hotel in Taichung. Its location is incredibly convenient: right next to the MRT City Hall Station, with bus stops on both sides of the main road, making transfers to other places easy. It's very friendly for those who don't want to drag their luggage too far. The hotel exterior looks a bit old, giving the impression it's been around for a while. However, when we got to our floor, there was a rather strong paint smell in the corridor, suggesting the hotel had recently undergone renovations or repainting. The room itself was generally clean, and the basic amenities were sufficient, making for an acceptable stay. But there are two design flaws that really need mentioning: 1. **Poorly designed bedside power outlets:** The outlets are located behind the pillows. If you try to charge your phone while lying down, the plug can easily shift or even poke your head, which is inconvenient and poses a slight safety concern. 2. **Too dark in the bathtub area:** After pulling the shower curtain for a shower, it's almost pitch black inside the curtain because the bathtub area lacks independent lighting. It's not very comfortable to use. What I do want to praise is the service at the front desk in the lobby: I asked about good food nearby, and the staff gave many suggestions with a very good attitude. Plus, the lobby space is very spacious with comfortable sofas, making it convenient for waiting or resting. In summary: If you prioritize convenient transportation and good service, this hotel is perfectly acceptable. However, if you care about in-room details (outlet placement, bathtub lighting) and are sensitive to smells, you should be prepared.

We checked in at this hotel on the evening of December 21, 2025. Immediately after we got into the assigned room, we smelled a very strong odor of chemical spray. My wife couldn’t bear this and started to have allergic reaction. Immediately we notified the front desk. They offered to switch to another room. Nevertheless , when we got to the other room, it had the same chemical odor. Therefore we decided to leave this hotel and found another hotel to stay for that night. We had requested a refund and the front desk at the Comin Place said that they would contact Trip.com to refund us the fee. However, till now we haven’t received the refund from Trip.com.
