Chongqing Airport Terminal Layout

Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport has grown fast in the last few years. Now it has three passenger terminals (T1, T2, T3A) for people to catch their flights. It also has a huge satellite hall (T3B) and a special place that connects all kinds of transportation like buses and trains.

Each terminal has clear role divisions, and English signage is widely available across all areas, making navigation easy for international visitors.

  • Terminal 1 (T1): The oldest terminal, mainly dedicated to regional domestic flights. It features compact layouts, basic amenities and quick check-in lanes for short-haul domestic routes.
  • Terminal 2 (T2): A busy mixed-use terminal handling both domestic and a small number of international flights. It houses airline lounges, medical centres, luggage services and a full range of dining options. Metro and bus access points are located on the ground floor for seamless transfers.
  • Terminal 3A (T3A): The largest and most modern main terminal. It is the primary hub for all international flights and most long-haul domestic services. Spanning six floors, T3A blends contemporary design with traditional Bashu cultural elements, such as decor inspired by local stilt houses. Duty-free zones, premium lounges, large food courts and comprehensive currency services are concentrated here.
  • Terminal 3B (T3B): A newly launched satellite hall, exclusively used for passenger boarding and disembarking. All check-in, security and immigration procedures are completed in T3A before taking the monorail to T3B gates. The maximum walking distance from the central hall to any gate is under 500 metres, with average walking time of just 5 minutes.

A free bus runs all day every day to take you between terminals. It leaves every 30 minutes from 5 am to midnight. The trip takes about 15 to 20 minutes.

There is also a monorail for moving between T3A and T3B. This monorail runs 24 hours and covers a distance of 2.36 kilometres in just 3 minutes. It is one of the ways to travel between these two areas, in Asia.

Dining at Chongqing Airport

Chongqing is world-famous for its spicy Sichuan cuisine, and the airport’s dining outlets perfectly showcase local food alongside familiar international brands.

Local Chongqing & Sichuan Cuisine (Highly Recommended):

Authentic Chongqing Spicy Noodles (Xiaomian), hotpot-flavoured snacks, mapo tofu and kung pao chicken are served at food courts in T2 and T3. Most local restaurants allow you to adjust the spiciness – remember to say “wēi là” (mild spicy) or “bù là” (no spice) if you cannot handle strong chilli, a vital tip for Singaporean visitors unaccustomed to numbing Sichuan peppercorns. Meals cost roughly CNY 30–60 (S$5.70–11.40) per person.

International & Quick Bites:

Global chain restaurants including Starbucks (open 24 hours in T2 arrivals), KFC, McDonald’s and Pacific Coffee operate across all terminals. Convenience stores such as 7-Eleven and FamilyMart are on every floor, selling packaged snacks, drinks and ready-to-eat meals for quick bites, priced from CNY 10–25 (S$1.90–4.70).

Lounges & Rest Areas at Chongqing Airport

For travellers seeking extra comfort during long waits or overnight layovers, CKG offers multiple lounge and rest choices:

  • Airline Exclusive Lounges: Air China Lounge (T3) and Sichuan Airlines Lounge (T2) provide free snacks, drinks, Wi-Fi and workstations for business-class, first-class passengers and Priority Pass members. The Sichuan Airlines Lounge also has shower facilities for refreshed travel.
  • Paid Public Lounges: Plaza Premium Lounge in T3 is open to all passengers for a one-time fee of CNY 160–320 (S$30.40–60.80). It features buffet meals, hot beverages, shower rooms and quiet work corners, a great choice for long layovers.
  • General Rest Areas & Massage Chairs: Soft seating with USB charging ports is distributed throughout all waiting halls. Paid massage chairs in T2 and T3 allow you to relax tired muscles after a long flight, priced at CNY 15 (S$2.80) for 15 minutes.

Overnight Layover Tips

Chongqing Airport terminals operate 24 hours, so you can stay inside the airport for overnight layovers without worrying about closing times. The quiet zones near T3 gates are less crowded at night, with comfortable seating and lighting. For a more restful sleep, book a paid lounge or nap chairs. If you prefer a proper bed, find hotels near Chongqing Airport for a smooth transfer.

Shopping at Chongqing Airport

Duty-Free Shops (T3 Airside Area)

These shops are for people who are flying out of the country. They have a lot of things like cosmetics, perfumes, alcohol, tobacco and nice stuff from Gucci and Burberry and Montblanc. The prices for some skincare and perfume brands are pretty good compared to the stores in Singapore. So it is a place to buy gifts at the last minute.

Local Souvenirs

There are shops in all the terminals that sell things that're special to Chongqing and Sichuan. They have Sichuan peppercorns, hotpot mixes, spicy tofu, nice embroidery, and bamboo things. These things are great to bring to your family and friends in Singapore because they are light and really special.
