5-Star Hotels in Guizhou, China

I was a little nervous before booking because the price wasn't cheap, and I worried the experience wouldn't be good enough. However, I figured the numerous positive reviews about the excellent service would be good. My experience was truly beyond expectations (I knew it would be good, but I didn't expect it to be this good), and the scenery was breathtaking. Guizhou-style dinner for two: The hotel offers a complimentary dinner for two, and my husband, an elderly couple, and three children didn't have to pay extra. We enjoyed the hotel buffet. We arrived at 7 p.m., and while the food was plentiful, the manager kept saying they were out of dishes and even cooked us a special Guizhou spicy chicken dish. My husband said it was incredibly flavorful. The bar always had drinks and ice water, making it a relaxing summer drink. After dinner, we took a stroll around the hotel, which was very relaxing. The driver of the electric scooter was always available, and when we left, he took us to the parking lot and then back to the scenic area gate to take us to the bus. The entire hotel staff gave me the same friendly and relaxed feeling as a Sanya resort hotel. My second child was struck by the hotel's beauty the moment they entered, and even asked if it had a swimming pool. It felt like a seaside resort. Swimming in the outdoor pool felt like wandering between heaven and earth, and the fresh scent of the pine forest permeated my breath. We also received complimentary tickets to the Yunmen Tun Scenic Area, which also included a stroll, and the scenery was beautiful. We took photos and posted them on WeChat, and everyone was amazed by the beauty. I look forward to returning in autumn to see the different scenery. A small suggestion would be to add more family-friendly facilities and some forest activities. While you can swim in the summer, there are some activities in the fall and winter that will provide a more enriching experience for children.

The room was spotless, with a lovely Japanese-style feel to it. The toilet was smart, and the shower pressure was strong and invigorating. The bedsheets and duvet covers were incredibly smooth and comfortable. Although the room was a bit small, it was perfectly functional for our needs! Plus, there was an abundance of bottled water available for guests to take freely right outside the room, next to the elevator! The location truly couldn't be better – it's incredibly close to the observation deck, just a 2-minute walk away! From the parking lot, two young staff members helped us carry our luggage, and their service attitude was excellent. They were smiling and friendly the whole way, even introducing us to nearby attractions. All the attractions were within a 30-minute walk of the accommodation. There were all sorts of restaurants everywhere, and many snack stalls along the way! We tried the specialty tofu pudding, fried potato shreds, and more… There were also many massage parlors. We went for a foot bath after dinner. But the best part was: our room directly overlooked a sea of lights! We sat on the balcony sofa in the evening, at night, and in the morning, just enjoying the view! It felt almost the same as being at the observation deck itself! The hotel's restaurant also had hammocks (swings), which were super relaxing! We sat on them in the evening and in the morning – so incredibly therapeutic! The breakfast provided was also rich and varied, including pho, corn, sweet potatoes, fruit, tofu, and milk! When we left, the young staff from the guesthouse also helped us carry our luggage all the way to the parking lot. They were just as cheerful and pleasant as before!

The room was clean and tidy, with the ambiance of a five-star hotel. The facilities were new, and the service was attentive. Breakfast was very rich and varied. On the fifth floor, there's a 'Pet Paradise' where you can interact with small animals, which is very family-friendly for those with kids. Right next to the hotel are a large shopping mall and a food street, making dining, shopping, and entertainment incredibly convenient. It's about a 20-minute walk to Jiaxiu Tower, and a taxi ride is also very cheap.

The hotel's location is excellent, right inside the East Gate. If you get tired from sightseeing, you can simply take the internal scenic area bus back to the hotel. We encountered heavy rain at noon, so we returned to the hotel, took a nap, and then continued our tour. Exploring from the East Gate to the West Gate was no problem and not too tiring, thankfully we listened to the hotel's front desk advice. That way, we didn't waste the park's prime location by queuing at the West Gate. The hotel facilities are quite new, and the restaurant is good too. There's also free laundry and drying. The hotel's vehicles are very convenient. I highly recommend this place for families with children who want to avoid getting too tired.

Environment: There's an underground parking lot, remember to register your license plate at the front desk. It's very close to Jiaxiu Tower, about a 7-minute walk. Facilities: The bed in the room was decent. The hotel is a bit old, opened in 2007. The showerhead and water pressure were fine. However, the window had no handle and could be pushed open. Since our room faced the street, the window couldn't be closed properly, so it was a bit noisy. Even when closed, the single-pane glass didn't provide good sound insulation. The door lock was also broken and couldn't be deadbolted. The outer doorknob was loose, which makes me think the management isn't great. Don't they inspect and fix things promptly? Breakfast was quite good, with a rich variety and decent taste. Service: The hotel front desk seemed to be misleading guests. However, the hotel's room rates are also a bit strange. The difference between a deluxe twin room and an executive deluxe twin room is that the executive deluxe twin room includes an extra afternoon tea... The hotel clearly has some newly renovated rooms and some older ones, but they don't use this distinction for pricing... Who would pay several hundred more just for your afternoon tea? I don't understand.

Close to the high-speed train station, the rooms are quite spacious, and the hygiene facilities are excellent. One of the rooms had a smoke smell, and after reporting it to the front desk, they promptly sent a Xiaomi air purifier, which perfectly solved the problem. The front desk staff were very friendly and even gave us a free room upgrade. Anshun West High-Speed Train Station pickup: The pickup service was quick, and the car was clean and odor-free.

The hotel's hardware is excellent, but its service and management get a zero. We checked in after 4 PM, and the room wasn't even ready yet. After it was finally cleaned, I walked in to find the previous guest's socks still sitting on the bedside table, as shown in picture one. It made me seriously doubt if they even cleaned it properly. The hotel's swimming pool is an Instagram hotspot, but because it's outsourced, the actual experience was a zero. There are no lockers! The entire changing room is as small as shown in picture two – that's it! The floor was covered in water and trash, and no one was cleaning it. There were no towels unless you paid 10 yuan for a disposable one, and no slippers unless you paid another 12 yuan. The breakfast was terrible, with very few options and no local specialties. Compared to other state guesthouses like the Wuxi Taihu Hotel, Nanjing Dongjiao Guesthouse, or Wuhan Donghu Hotel, the breakfast here was basically on par with a county government guesthouse. All in all, it's absolutely not worth the price. Booking the Zhijin Hotel was definitely the biggest regret of my Guizhou trip.

The greatest strength of this hotel is undoubtedly its staff. Despite language barriers, everyone we encountered was friendly, patient and genuinely eager to help. A special mention must go to the hotel manager, who went far beyond what could reasonably be expected. When we were struggling with transport arrangements, he personally offered assistance and ultimately drove us to the train station himself. Only afterwards did we discover that he was actually the hotel manager, not a driver. He refused any payment and demonstrated a level of hospitality and generosity that left a lasting impression on our family. The staff also helped us order food delivery using local apps that were difficult for us as foreign visitors to navigate, communicating through translation apps whenever necessary. The hotel is conveniently located beside the Olympic Sports Centre, which was ideal for our visit to the Asian Gymnastics Championships. The rooms were spacious and clean. However, there were several aspects of the stay that prevented it from feeling truly comfortable. The surrounding area felt unusually quiet, with many restaurants and commercial spaces appearing closed, giving parts of the district a somewhat deserted atmosphere. Dining options were limited, and finding lunch or dinner nearby was often challenging. The rooms, while large, had relatively small windows, which meant there was not much natural light. The air conditioning sometimes struggled to keep the room as cool as we would have liked, and the hot water supply was inconsistent. The beds were extremely firm, and each guest was provided with only one fairly hard pillow. Some travellers may appreciate a very firm mattress, but we found it a little uncomfortable for a longer stay. Also, we were only provided with 2 bath towels even though there were 3 of us sharing a room. Overall, this is a hotel with exceptional staff and a convenient location for events at the Sports Centre. While the accommodation itself fell short of our expectations in several areas, the kindness and professionalism of the staff left us with positive memories of our visit.

We checked in very late at night, but to our surprise, the front desk staff was incredibly warm and friendly. They even upgraded our room! The hotel also offers fast charging stations for Tesla, Li Auto, and Xpeng, which is a huge plus for EV owners. The breakfast was fantastic, especially the noodles – they had an authentic, original beef noodle soup flavor. Also, a little embarrassing to admit, but it was my first time realizing that Four Points by Sheraton is part of Marriott.

Environment: The room location is fantastic, right by the observation deck. You get panoramic views without the crowds, and the scenery outside the window is just like what you see at those popular internet-famous cafes. The scenic shuttle bus stops right at the entrance. Service: We had a one-on-one butler, Xiao Luo, who was adorable and provided incredibly thoughtful service. She picked us up from the west gate ticket office, helped with our luggage, designed our itinerary, and introduced us to the room. We received welcome fruits, a minibar, a sweet night soup (red bean paste with mini tangyuan), afternoon tea (which we didn't get to experience), Miao traditional costume experience, batik dyeing, and luggage forwarding. All in all, extremely satisfied. Facilities: The room was a loft. Downstairs was the living room, bathroom, and balcony, while the bedroom was upstairs. What's most worth mentioning is how excellent the soundproofing in the bedroom is. Despite being in an area with 'daytime coffee, nighttime drinks' establishments, it was very quiet, and we slept completely undisturbed at night. There's a small platform on the rooftop, currently under construction, but the view from there is great.
