5-Star Hotels in Penang, Malaysia

This was the best hotel we stayed at during our trip to Malaysia. Check-in was a breeze, and the room was spotless. It even had a kitchenette with a bar, a washing machine, swimming rings, laundry detergent, and dish soap – everything you could need! They also upgraded us to the 33rd floor. The rooftop pool on the 36th floor offered a panoramic view of Georgetown. It was truly an amazing experience. There are plenty of food options, attractions, and convenience stores nearby, making it super, super convenient! I'll definitely be staying here again. Highly recommended!

Hidden in George Town, Penang, is a century-old heritage hotel, which was the most pleasant surprise of my trip. The hotel is divided into the Heritage Wing and the Victory Annexe, both largely preserving their original historical charm. From the antique elevator to the brass key wall, every detail tells a story. Teak staircases are carved with Malaysian motifs, and the rooms feature hardwood furniture alongside Fujian blue and white tiles, creating a stylish blend of East and West. The infinity pool offers direct views of the strait, and at sunset, the orange glow reflects on the water, allowing you to fully soak in Penang's unique seaside Nanyang charm. The century-old corridors are steeped in history, having hosted notable figures like Charlie Chaplin, Marilyn Monroe, and Sun Yat-sen.

Hotel provided spacious room with queen beds for our twin bedroom. Seafacing room. Kindly Accommodated request for wheelchair, shower chair, in room diningfor my elderly relative companion. Check in was fast & efficient. Service is efficient and unobtrusive. No issues with security. Noted cosmopolitan guests and the hotel with bustling but not overly crowded. Fair mix of couples and families. Ample covered car parking around the back with access to both Jalan Gurney & Jalan Kelawei. Strategic location allows short rides to Gurney Drive & Pulau Tikus Hawker food area. Proximity to Gurney Plaza and Gurney Paragon shopping is added bonus.Gurney Bay park allows many locals & tourists to walk or jog along the former Esplanade. Had an excellent stay here. Greeted with dessert when we reached for check in. Check in and check out process was smooth. Porch parking was available onsite. Staffs and security was extremely welcoming and friendly. Room was spacious, and clean. Air conditioning was working well. Toilet was clean. Thank you for the excellent stay. The sea view from the bedroom and bathroom was absolutely stunning and really captivated me. I also loved the apartment layout. The living room was spacious, and having a large fridge, washing machine, and kitchen was very convenient, even though we didn't use them. The hotel breakfast didn't have a huge variety, but the food was good, and the service was excellent. Right next door there's a mall with a 24-hour convenience store and two spa places. The night market and food stalls are within walking distance, and Gurney Plaza isn't too far either; we walked there both evenings for some shopping.

My stay here was excellent! The hotel's location is superb, with convenient transportation, being very close to the subway station and shopping center. The check-in process was quick, and the front desk staff were enthusiastic, professional, and friendly. The room was clean and hygienic, the bedding was soft and comfortable, and the soundproofing was good, ensuring a high-quality sleep. The room facilities were complete, the internet speed was fast, and the shower water temperature was just right with strong pressure. There are plenty of dining and entertainment options nearby, and it offers great value for money. I'll definitely choose this place again next time. Highly recommend everyone to stay here!

Service: 24h frontdesk. No late check out after 12pm. Room: Smelly toilet (huge shame). Loud outdoor music at 722am-8am. Staff claim this is uncontrollable/cant be helped. Clean. Great bed and pillow. Noise from other rooms depend on luck (our stay did not have noisy neighbours). Has water dispenser. Location: Average. Hotel lobby for drop off and pick up point is a long one-way loop and not very convenient. My advise is to alight at the heritage block to save time and taxi money. Pool: Excellent roof top pool with excellent views of three sides of Penang. Downside is there are limited lounge chairs and usually packed with families and toddlers. No sauna/steam room. No outside food and drinks allowed. Gym: Great but didnt use. Price: Good. Lift: Crazy stupid position of buttons and order.

Overall a great experience. The room was well maintained, clean and exactly as pictured. (Exactly what you see in photos on official website.) A few things I think could be improved: 1) I dislike bar soap, and their bar soap was very hard to take out from the soap dish as it stuck to it. They only offer bar soap. In the future I hope they can provide liquid hand soap too. 2) Some of the amenities close way too early (pool, spa, housekeeping, room service). 3) Spa is understaffed. 4) My shower door got a bit stuck sometimes. Other than that, service is pretty top notch and everything else about my stay was perfect.

This was our过渡 hotel for the first night in Penang, and they offer 24-hour check-in. We arrived past midnight, but the Malay guy at the front desk was still very attentive. The room wasn't big but felt new with a modern design. Our room type faced the back street, so it was quiet, but it looked directly onto the building opposite, offering no view at all. If a view is important to you, I recommend booking a different room type. The hotel is very close to Toh Soon Cafe and the Peranakan Museum, both within a five-minute walk. The surrounding area is pretty quiet with not many shops.

2nd time at this lovely hotel. Same lovely, helpful staff and service. Even the breakfast has improved. My first time to enjoy the pool with the jacuzzi. First night on arrival, we saw the fire dance show which was unexpected. Good performance. We had 2 dine-in services and a pool side lunch. The food was delicious and authentic. A good place to chill out, especially with 2 massage sessions. There will definitely be a third time.
