Stayed at Atelier Hotel Abiad Johor Bahru and had a pleasant experience. The room was clean, modern, and comfortable, with good air-conditioning and strong Wi-Fi. The hotel is conveniently located near many eateries and shops, making it easy to find food and daily necessities. Staff were friendly and helpful during check-in and check-out. Overall, it’s a good choice for a short stay in JB with reasonable pricing. Would consider staying again.

The quality of this chain varies wildly, some are terrible, others are pretty good! This one is newly opened, so the facilities are brand new, but the soundproofing is really poor! The bathroom design is excellent though.

The location is excellent. Near supermarket and restauranta. So convenient and close to everything I needed,
The room was clean but its quite small. Friendly staff and you can do your self check in. So easy.
Considering the very reasonable rate, this hotel offers great value for money.

This hotel is great, conveniently located near R&F and the JB immigration office, as well as JB Station. It's also easy to find food nearby. However, the hotel's current name isn't yet discoverable on maps. So, if you're using Grab or setting your destination, you'll need to use the old hotel name: Fives Hotel Meldrum. That name is accurate on location maps. If you search for the current hotel name, the address isn't correct. So, please use the old hotel name, Fives Hotel Meldrum. Hopefully, the name and address will be updated to match soon, to make it easier to find.

EXTENDED my stay one more night. Is real good stay😊😊
Location is👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 - easy access to foods and shopping and massage. (Just next to a hongkong cafe 十三幺Thirteen Units, and also walking distance to Holiday Plaza [5mins] & KSL [12mins]).
Easy to self check in, very responsive via WhatsApp
Will definitely come back again, hope you all keep up the good job 💪🏼💪🏼
iBilik (”bilik” means ”room”) Hotel, part of Swing & Pillows, is hands down unquestionably the best value for money place to stay in Johor Bahru. It's also one of the cleanest.
Umar is the personal embodiment of ”hospitality” and is a shining light and example in Visit Malaysia 🇲🇾 Year 2026.
Even the single rooms are big enough for solo travellers with luggage and shopping. Beds are clean and the rooms have everything you need.
WiFi is fast and stable. Aircon is very effective. Shower has hot water. Water cooler plus iron and ironing board available on each floor.
What more do you need for a few days stay?
Highly recommended.
Located in Johor Bahru, HCK HomeStay Near Sultan Ibrahim Stadium and Skudai Area is a great base to explore the city from.
At this homestay, you'll have access to a playground.

The room was very clean, and the owner's design was thoughtful. They even had an electric mosquito repellent device outside the room (though I still recommend bringing an extra one, as I did encounter some mosquitoes). You can tell if the bathroom is occupied by the light. If you're taking a taxi, the location might feel a bit remote, but there's actually a gas station with a convenience store just a short walk away.
Considering the low price, this is truly excellent.
However, there are a few things to note: doing laundry costs 7 MYR per cycle, and air conditioning is 13 MYR per day. Also, since the entire building is single-story, there's still a possibility of encountering small insects like ants in the room.

The room was tiny and looked nothing like the pictures. There weren't even any hangers. The location is very remote, with absolutely no shops or restaurants nearby. It's a long walk from the back of the train station. I'd recommend staying at a hotel closer to the train station exit, as that area is very lively with plenty of dining options. The Arulmigu Sri Rajakaliamman Glass Temple and Johor Ancient Temple are there, and it's just another ten-minute walk to Jalan Tan Hiok Nee. Remember to choose a hotel in the opposite direction from this one for a more vibrant area – it's only a five-minute walk from the station. This hotel was a bit overpriced. I later switched to another hotel that was much larger and cheaper, though they didn't provide bottled water.

GGuest UserHad a gathering nearby so booked this hotel. Just a very basic place for a cheap 1 night stay, any longer you might be better off elsewhere.
- 24 hours KK mart beside if you need to get something.
- Floor feels a bit sticky and no hotel slippers provided.
- Wardrobe wall was rather yellow / looks moldy? (I am actually not sure what's the condition) so I avoided using it

MM L LeeThe price is affordable, and the location is quite convenient, within a 10-minute walk from the bus stop. It's also right by the mural street. The room isn't huge but doesn't feel cramped. Hygiene is good, although the air conditioning occasionally makes a strange noise, it doesn't affect sleep. Overall, it's a great value-for-money option.
AAnonymous UserThe stay was great, but I hope the male receptionist will smile next time. He scared me; I'm just a student. He's too serious. A smile would be nice.
AAnonymous UserH3 hotel is a budget hotel in Yong Peng. The accommodation is comfortable, cleanliness acceptable.
⭕ car parking space provided.
❌ no electric kettle, no lift(quite a problem if the room is on the higher floor).

I recently stayed at Hako Hotel (Taman Universiti) in Skudai and had a pleasant experience overall. The standout feature is definitely the bed; it was exceptionally comfy, providing a great night's sleep after a long day of traveling. The room layout is modern and efficient, making the most of the space.
Regarding the facilities, I really appreciated the water dispenser provided in the lobby, which is a convenient and eco-friendly touch for refilling bottles. Parking was also completely stress-free, as there are ample parking lots available right around the building. My only minor critique would be the toilet cleanliness, which I found to be average—it wasn’t dirty, but it could definitely benefit from a more thorough deep clean to match the high standard of the bedroom. Overall, it is a great, value-for-money choice for a short stay in Skudai!
GGuest UserCons: No locker provided; Not-welcoming receptionist; access card not working; roommate talking to the phone till midnight which was disturbing, earplugs given but ineffective to block noise; room door broken and couldn't lock; toilet was smelly and floor was always wet; some dirt on the table inside my cubicle; see-through blind; the dorm was probably meant for long-term working occupants as there were some weird rules.
Pros: walking distance to Komtar JBCC and CIQ; towel (dirty), toothbrush and earplugs (not useful) were provided; being the most effortable option at time of booking.
This was my first time staying in a capsule hostel. Honestly, it was a mixed and slightly negative experience but for a short rest it is still marginally acceptable.
CChooEricaThe accommodation is very clean and the service is friendly. The location is far from the pier, but you can experience the unbeatable sea view.
