The quality of this chain varies wildly, some are terrible, others are pretty good! This one is newly opened, so the facilities are brand new, but the soundproofing is really poor! The bathroom design is excellent though.

I have stayed at this hotel several times because the rooms are generally comfortable and the location is convenient. Unfortunately, my recent experiences with the front desk service have been disappointing and have affected my overall impression of the property.
During my most recent stay, the hotel required a RM50 cash deposit upon check-in. As I did not have sufficient cash on hand, I asked whether a credit card or Touch ’n Go payment could be used instead. The male receptionist working the night shift informed me that neither option was accepted, leaving me with no choice but to provide a RM100 cash deposit. Shortly after I completed my check-in and walked away, I could hear him immediately continuing a personal phone conversation in Mandarin. Although he spoke to me in English throughout our interaction, it appeared that he had been engaged in the call before I arrived. This gave me the impression that guest service was not his priority at that moment.
What made this more disappointing was that this was the same receptionist I had encountered during a previous stay. On that occasion, he was handling my check-in but stopped midway to settle payment for his food delivery. I was left waiting while he attended to his personal matter and was not informed or even asked to wait. As a guest, I found this unprofessional, as the check-in process should have taken priority.
My check-out experience during this stay was also less than ideal. I had extended my stay by one hour, so the deposit refund needed to be adjusted accordingly. The receptionist handling my check-out asked whether I had RM20 cash so that she could return my RM100 deposit more conveniently. Considering that I had already explained during check-in that I did not have sufficient cash, the request felt more like a matter of staff convenience than guest convenience.
Throughout the interaction, her body language gave me the impression that she was reluctant or inconvenienced by the situation. When she handed over the cash, I thanked her, but there was no acknowledgement or response. While the correct amount was eventually returned, the interaction felt cold and unwelcoming, which was disappointing as it was the final impression of my stay.
The hotel itself is decent, with clean rooms, comfortable accommodation, and a convenient location. However, the front desk team creates the first and last impression of a hotel, and unfortunately the service I experienced fell short of expectations. I hope management can review these incidents and reinforce the importance of professionalism, attentiveness, and prioritising guests during check-in and check-out.
During my recent work trip to Johor Bahru, I stayed at the Nusa Bistari Lavender Hotel, a small budget hotel that exceeded my expectations for the price. Despite being affordable, the room was clean and the bed was genuinely comfortable—exactly what I needed after long workdays outside. Since I spent most of my time on-site or traveling for meetings, I didn’t require luxury amenities, but the basics were handled exceptionally well. The air conditioning worked perfectly, the Wi-Fi was reliable enough for quick check-ins, and the location made it easy to get around. What really stood out, however, was the front desk staff. They were consistently warm, helpful, and welcoming, which added a personal touch that you don’t always find in budget accommodations. For anyone traveling to JB for work on a tight schedule and an even tighter budget, I would definitely recommend this hotel. It offers great value, a good night’s rest, and genuinely friendly service without any unnecessary frills.
Definitely will book here again to stay, the staff is very helpful and good, we are arrive on 1pm, although I asked her can we check in early, she said that 2pm only can check in, but she helping us to proceed check in after 10minutes, really appreciate her. Anyway the location very good and I like to room.

Overall, it's pretty good. The only thing is that sometimes new guests check in late at night, and the younger ones can be quite noisy. Parking is also a bit difficult in the evenings because of the restaurant.

This hotel is great, conveniently located near R&F and the JB immigration office, as well as JB Station. It's also easy to find food nearby. However, the hotel's current name isn't yet discoverable on maps. So, if you're using Grab or setting your destination, you'll need to use the old hotel name: Fives Hotel Meldrum. That name is accurate on location maps. If you search for the current hotel name, the address isn't correct. So, please use the old hotel name, Fives Hotel Meldrum. Hopefully, the name and address will be updated to match soon, to make it easier to find.

The room was very clean, and the owner's design was thoughtful. They even had an electric mosquito repellent device outside the room (though I still recommend bringing an extra one, as I did encounter some mosquitoes). You can tell if the bathroom is occupied by the light. If you're taking a taxi, the location might feel a bit remote, but there's actually a gas station with a convenience store just a short walk away.
Considering the low price, this is truly excellent.
However, there are a few things to note: doing laundry costs 7 MYR per cycle, and air conditioning is 13 MYR per day. Also, since the entire building is single-story, there's still a possibility of encountering small insects like ants in the room.
Can see the cleaners hard at work to keep the place sparkling clean, though the bedsheet seems abit yellowish and towel railings rusty. Maybe time to upgrade fittings. They have a sitting area where u can grt free drinks (milo, coffee etc) from dispenser machine.

The room was tiny and looked nothing like the pictures. There weren't even any hangers. The location is very remote, with absolutely no shops or restaurants nearby. It's a long walk from the back of the train station. I'd recommend staying at a hotel closer to the train station exit, as that area is very lively with plenty of dining options. The Arulmigu Sri Rajakaliamman Glass Temple and Johor Ancient Temple are there, and it's just another ten-minute walk to Jalan Tan Hiok Nee. Remember to choose a hotel in the opposite direction from this one for a more vibrant area – it's only a five-minute walk from the station. This hotel was a bit overpriced. I later switched to another hotel that was much larger and cheaper, though they didn't provide bottled water.
I stayed at Hako Hotel @ Tun Aminah for one night from 16–17 January 2026. Check-in and check-out were smooth and efficient, and the front desk staff were friendly and helpful.
I was fortunate to be assigned to a relatively decent room on Level 1. However, it was concerning to observe that several other rooms appeared to be affected by mould, with visible signs around the sink area, room walls, bathroom ceiling, and shower floor. In addition, the room maintenance was lacking — the blanket provided was torn, the window handle was missing, and the tap knob was loose and detached during use.
Having heard many positive reviews about Hako Hotel in both Tun Aminah and Mount Austin, I was surprised by how much the room condition seems to have deteriorated over time. With more consistent upkeep and maintenance, the hotel has strong potential to attract travellers, given its competitive pricing and convenient location.

GGuest UserThe hotel's location is excellent, making it incredibly convenient for getting around. The rooms are spacious, bright, and impeccably clean, with comfortable bedding. The front desk staff were warm and attentive, and check-in was very efficient. There's a fantastic variety of delicious food options nearby. MM L LeeThe price is affordable, and the location is quite convenient, within a 10-minute walk from the bus stop. It's also right by the mural street. The room isn't huge but doesn't feel cramped. Hygiene is good, although the air conditioning occasionally makes a strange noise, it doesn't affect sleep. Overall, it's a great value-for-money option.
AAnonymous UserThe stay was great, but I hope the male receptionist will smile next time. He scared me; I'm just a student. He's too serious. A smile would be nice.
AAnonymous UserH3 hotel is a budget hotel in Yong Peng. The accommodation is comfortable, cleanliness acceptable.
⭕ car parking space provided.
❌ no electric kettle, no lift(quite a problem if the room is on the higher floor).

I recently stayed at Hako Hotel (Taman Universiti) in Skudai and had a pleasant experience overall. The standout feature is definitely the bed; it was exceptionally comfy, providing a great night's sleep after a long day of traveling. The room layout is modern and efficient, making the most of the space.
Regarding the facilities, I really appreciated the water dispenser provided in the lobby, which is a convenient and eco-friendly touch for refilling bottles. Parking was also completely stress-free, as there are ample parking lots available right around the building. My only minor critique would be the toilet cleanliness, which I found to be average—it wasn’t dirty, but it could definitely benefit from a more thorough deep clean to match the high standard of the bedroom. Overall, it is a great, value-for-money choice for a short stay in Skudai!
AAnonymous UserWent with 4 kids. House big enough. 3 bedrooms.
Master room was big and spacious. With a floor mattress. a king size bed and attached toilet.
2 common bedrooms. 1 room with a king/queen size bed and single size bed. The other room with 1 king/queen size bed.
Living room has a sofa bed. Possible for 1 pax to sleep comfortably.
Toilet looks old. And master bedroom toilet has an odour. Quite bad. No complains about sound. But heard one or two loud door slams only which i thought is okay because it happens at home as well. The wind, the kids, accidentally. Neighbours seems good. No noise from them and don't even bump into any. But from each room cannot hear each other.
Morning around 530am will hear the morning prayers from one of the common bedroom that has 2 beds. The other rooms didnt hear it or perhaps deep asleep. Haha. And another prayer session around 430pm afternoon. Last about 30min. If very tired should be able to fall back to zzz again. My kids did.
Towel has a smell. But we don't use as we use to bringing our own towels.
I like that there is security counter but not to deposit your luggage prior check in. Anything just ask them and check in is very smooth. Instructions from owner was very clear and direct. Less than 5 min to check in. Early check in allowed at a charge if there's no guest prior.
Very nice owners. Reply via whatsapp. And they provided small water bottles and coffee sachets. Quite surprise they do as most, doesn't provides. And a few trash bags .. good!
Overall the stay was ok as we only sleep there. No other activities.

GGuest UserCons: No locker provided; Not-welcoming receptionist; access card not working; roommate talking to the phone till midnight which was disturbing, earplugs given but ineffective to block noise; room door broken and couldn't lock; toilet was smelly and floor was always wet; some dirt on the table inside my cubicle; see-through blind; the dorm was probably meant for long-term working occupants as there were some weird rules.
Pros: walking distance to Komtar JBCC and CIQ; towel (dirty), toothbrush and earplugs (not useful) were provided; being the most effortable option at time of booking.
This was my first time staying in a capsule hostel. Honestly, it was a mixed and slightly negative experience but for a short rest it is still marginally acceptable.
