Red lantern Inn gives the best service among all the hotels I’d stayed so far in China. The owner and his wife picked me up from the Train station 20 min away. The location is superb, inside the old city and located just 5 min walk from the North Gate. The Mansion is so beautiful and well kept for hundreds years old building unless you like everything new or modern. The best part is Xiao Lei, the sweet and polite inn keeper who’s extremely helpful although we had to use Google translator to communicate. He goes all out of his ways to do anything to make your stay comfortable and your visit enjoyable. He cannot explain how to but the ticket for the Old city, so he walks with me to the office. He also drives an electric truck to deliver my luggages to the north gate and call the taxi for me to the airport. I’ll definitely come back to stay here if I come visit Pingyaogucheng again. I completely recommend this inn to everyone.

Breakfast had few options, but it was very tasty. The bathroom needed a new curtain that didn't smell, but that is our only complaint and likely an oversight. All in all a great place to stay when visiting Pingyao ancient city.

This inn has the vibes of a decent hotel room. Plus points are its great location, loft experience and long heritage. The interior decorations are full of description of its long history. The room is clean and well maintained.

The hotel located in the ancient city of Datong right in front of the Huayan Monastery is wonderful. Spotlessly clean, furnished with style and elegance. The owners are very kind. Fresh fruit every day and ready to fulfill our wishes and requests.The beds are very comfortable and the linen is of excellent quality. Bathroom toiletries are provided. If you visit Datong you absolutely must not miss it! Absolutely recommended!

This hotel was really good! It was in a smaller alley, so not alot of noise, close to the ancient city. In 10 minutes walk you will already have the views of the city walls. It was very easy to reach by bus from the high speed train station (Datongnan). The room was beautiful, bed was super comfy and everything was clean. No cigarette smell either. Staff was really friendly and could speak some English which was pleasant. There is also a coffee and cocktail bar in the lobby, we only tried the coffee, but it was a nice!

The hotel room is clean and spacious. Wide variety of breakfast selection and the food quality is good. Provide free fruits, snacks and drink at the lobby hall. Most of the staff are helpful, except for an unpleasant encounter with one of the front desk male staff on the mid autumn night shift. He is the only one on night shift duty on the night of 17 Sep. He seems quite impatient and unfriendly to attend to us. The counter sells beer, we were asking him if is ok to buy the beer and have it at the lobby dining area. He didn't give a direct answer of 'No', we were confused and kept asking. But he raised his voice, which is unprofessional of a customer service staff. We were not expecting such service and attitude from a well-known hotel. Other than that, it was a pleasant experience at the hotel and generally we are satisfied with the experience.

The main reason for booking this hotel is because it is close to the high-speed rail station. It is indeed very close. It takes only ten minutes to walk there. It is very convenient. The hotel staff has very good service. There was a problem with the shower water at night. They called and came to help us check it immediately. The security brother and the cleaning lady were also very good. They gave people a very friendly feeling. Very very nice stay, Mr Li and Mrs Li were very hospitable and welcoming. Mrs Li makes a very nice local breakfast that is a great start to the day. The property is at a quiet corner within the old city, very near the main sights but yet nice and quiet and night. Room was clean and comfortable. Highly recommended.

It is a 3-minute walk to the main lane of Ming and Qing Street. Whether it is to enjoy the night view of the ancient city with swaying lanterns at night or to capture the light and shadow of the first ray of sunlight on the bluestone road in the morning, it is surprisingly convenient. The inn perfectly combines the architectural essence of the Shanxi Merchants' Courtyard with modern intelligence. I booked a homestay on Ctrip in advance and the price was really cheap after the Chinese New Year. It takes 20 minutes by taxi from Pingyao Ancient City Station. It is about 300 meters from the New East Gate. The location of the B&B is very good, facing the main street, which is very convenient for eating and sightseeing. The decoration is antique. The boss is very enthusiastic to help with luggage. The ancient city is very cold. Didn't see the light show. Eat and drink for a day and return the next day. The boss also gave me a nice gift.

The hotel is located on the 19th floor of an office building. Although the room is not too big, it is clean and hygienic, and the bed is comfortable. Excellent. Done in the traditional hotel style but with very modern in-room amenities. Bathroom is clean and private, with nice shower including good quality—free flow—shampoo and bodywash, clean toilet and a proper door (no glass bathrooms here!). It’s so hard to find a hotel room like this these days. Most importantly, all the staff were totally amazing, and the manager is so friendly and keen to help and can speak some English which makes things all the easier. There are quite a few shaokao and noodle places around the hotel, and importantly, the snowman drink place (蜜雪冰城) is not too far away! The hotel is just a couple of Ks south of the most popular entrance to the amazing ancient wall (大同古城), and in the other direction, about five hundred metres to another nice park called Mingtan Park where I flew my new drone for the first time ever while a local man practiced perfectly his Taoist meditation completely undeterred by the annoying whirring sound of the drone! My only regret is not planning more than a single night here. There’s so much more to Datong than just the Yungang Grottoes and the Hengshan Hanging Temple (though they are both totally spectacular!), so stay a couple of nights at least if you can.

very nice and clean hotel. Very near to the ancient city entry gate. Locating is also very near to the gathering spot for my tour that will start early in the morning. When we check out, they even gave each of us a packet of local snacks. Love it!

Vienna Hotel is located in a good location, within walking distance to the ancient city, Huayan Temple, Shanhua Temple, Nine Dragon Wall, etc. The hotel hardware is not very good. The shower head is just a small one, the water is not hot, the room soundproofing is not good, the service staff is not very enthusiastic, there are no disposable slippers when we checked in, the parking space is underground, which is a bit far, and you have to carry your suitcases and bags to the underground parking space, and there are a few steps before taking the elevator. The advantage of choosing this hotel is that it is close to the ancient city. Just for reference.

What an amazingly unexpected service we received from Carter and the hotel management at Longxuanju! We were picked up at the train station with a big welcoming smile by Carter and Ms Zhang, hotel manager. Afterwards, Carter drove us to have lunch and tour the ancient town. When we got back to the inn at night, we were served tea and some sweets in the courtyard area. The next day Carter gave us a ride to/from Yungang Grottoes. Then we were taken to the train station early in the morning with breakfast thoughtfully packed to go. Longxuanju is only 15min walk from the ancient town and located steps from one of the gate to city wall which is really nice to stroll at night. The room was stocked with fruits, snacks and water. And you can enjoy watching TV on the large movie screen in the room! We had an unforgettable experience in Datong thanks to Carter and hotel management!
