We have been coming for many years ... we don't use the lift on Friday nights/Saturdays so we always ask for a ground floor. This year, we arrived to find that we had been put on 2nd floor but the reception staff had already looked up online and found that our ”lift” restrictions were only Fri / Sat so when we checked in, they advised us that we're on 2nd floor but not to worry. they will move us to a ground floor apartment on Fri. They REALLY mean that they would move us! We packed everything except for the fridge/freezer on the Fri morning, went out for some hours and came back in the afternoon and in the intervening period, they came, moved all of our stuff for us into the ground floor apartment and even placed the fridge/freezer items and our reading material into the identical spots in the ground floor apartment! Hassle free for us. Not only that, but the friendly guy at reception said that he had also discovered online that we don't use automatic doors on our Sabbath. In all the years I had never mentioned this as we wait patiently for someone going in/out and accompanied them. He said that we didn't have to do that anymore. We could use an emergency exit door and he'll disable the alarm. We are super impressed by the customer service ... even looking up things about our religious/cultural requirements and preempting issues. If there is any negative, I note that the WiFi is very slow. That's it!

The reception lady was very unfriendly. She did not explain to me how I could be able to get hot water as no kettle was not provided. They should give guidance to let me figure out what to do with this as it should be available. The hotel should make this little improvement so that customers can enjoy more without much uncertainty!

I booked on the day we arrived as I needed accommodation close to Northshore Eat Street. Saw reviews about access issues so I called before booking and was advised access info is sent at 2pm. We had no problems with online booking and receiving access code. Room was good value for money with balcony, plenty of free parking and wifi. Would definitely book again if I need accommodation close to airport.

Hides Hotel in Cairns offers exceptional value for money. This century-old hotel has a unique city vibe and is perfectly located in the heart of downtown. It's just a few minutes' walk to the Esplanade, night markets, and the Great Barrier Reef terminal, surrounded by a multitude of restaurants and shops, making getting around incredibly convenient. The guest rooms are clean and tidy, equipped with air conditioning, a mini-fridge, and free Wi-Fi, and the beds are soft and comfortable for a good night's sleep. The front desk staff are warm and helpful and can assist with booking reef tours. The spacious, vintage veranda is perfect for relaxing. It's definitely a top choice for budget travelers, and I'll stay here again next time I'm in Cairns.

The hotel felt a bit old, but the location was super convenient, very close to the night market and shopping center! I'm not sure why they only provided a thin sheet and one blanket instead of a proper duvet like most hotels... The windows were old with a metal grill, and the bathroom wasn't a wet/dry separation.

We booked our accommodation at Hola as it was a short drive from the birthday party celebration at a local Brewery we attended. We were pleasantly surprised by this bouquet-style accommodation(only 15 rooms). Every room is slightly different with different art from a local artist hanging in the room. A local potter has made one-of-a-kind coffee and tea cups. All of the content in the bar fridge is locally sourced (bottles are recycled) everything is about sustainability- furniture from recycled timber, a water tank, solar-sourced power, private, tranquil, and the most amazingly comfortable bed (we both sleep very well) The bathroom products are beautiful: organic botanicals designed to elevate your mood that is vegan-friendly, cruelty-free and refillable. Across the road is a park, Thai restaurant, and local markets (Wed & Fri.) We only stayed one night but we would definitely go back for a longer stay next time so that we could enjoy the gardens and private lawn area (picnic/ read a book/ chillout). We have already recommended Hola to family and friends. Eumundi is a 20-minute drive to Noosa (north) or (South) to Mooloolaba. Super clean and very new/modern. The welcome bag containing lollies and chocolates was a nice gesture The only very, very small thing for me, was there was no shower cap (I have long hair), I think because shower caps are plastic it goes against their suitability Philosophy. I did have a hairband to use, so really that is my only negative thing.

The location is wonderful. 3 min walk from Roma St station where the airport train stops and the greyhound/flix buses depart. The beds are so comfortable, great mattresses and pillows. There is a lockable cabinet in the bed pod to store valuables which is useful but it is a bit annoying because you bang your legs on it if you move in your sleep. It’s clean enough to sleep and exist in but really the cleaning standards need improving as it’s pretty dirty. There is a kitchen that has everything you need. The hostel tries to make it social with activities everyday but it’s not really a social hostel. There’s a lot of Asian travellers who don’t really interact with other people, only their phones.
