Okinawa Kariyushi Resort EXES Onna

9.6/10

First impression of the lobby is grand yet intimate. They escort you to a table and bring a welcome drink while checking you in. The rooms are large with a wonderful view. The rooms look just like the photos. Breakfasts are great, they make Eggs Benedict every morning. One day there was mango juice. Green smoothie every day. You can also get soba noodles cooked. You can even exchange breakfast for lunch at the hotel next door, and use their larger pools there. The room description mentioned a sea view, but on the third floor, a triangular roof slightly obstructs it, though the view is still incredible.

Halekulani Okinawa

I come to Okinawa almost every winter for vacation and have stayed at many ocean-view hotels here. Halekulani Okinawa stands out for both its significant strengths and weaknesses. **Pros:** (1) As a newly built hotel, the facilities are much newer than other hotels. The rooms even have smart tablets to conveniently book restaurants and check out various amenities. (2) Although the restaurant prices are noticeably higher than other hotels, the quality of both the buffet and à la carte restaurants, and even room service, is excellent and worth the price. (3) The service is very good. If you're taking public transportation when checking out, they'll even provide a car to take you to the station. (4) If you skip breakfast, you can change it to lunch, which is convenient for those who like to sleep in. **Cons:** This seems to be a common issue with Western hotel brands. Halekulani Okinawa, along with two other Hilton hotels here, shares the following problems. I believe this might stem from differences in Western brands' operational philosophies. However, for a hotel like Halekulani, which costs more than double other ocean-view hotels, these shortcomings are quite unacceptable. (1) The hotel lacks a well-stocked convenience store and souvenir shop. Other Japanese-owned ocean-view resort hotels usually have one or two such stores with a wide variety of items. Here, there's only one shop selling some Halekulani branded merchandise and a very limited selection of ”eco-friendly, natural” snacks, with hardly any beverages. If you want something to eat, you have to walk a few hundred meters outside the hotel to a chain convenience store. (2) The mini-bar drinks in the room are chargeable, and the prices are 4-5 times higher than at outside convenience stores. Considering this hotel is 2-3 times more expensive than others, and many other hotels often offer free mini-bars, this difference is quite significant. The main issue is the lack of an internal convenience store, forcing guests to frequently go out to a convenience store a few hundred meters away for a wider selection of drinks and snacks. Not to mention, it's truly unpleasant to go out when it's rainy or windy. For someone like me who enjoys staying at a comfortable and convenient hotel for several days or even a week, it's hard to stay long if a resort can't meet all my needs in one place. (3) The price for the self-service laundry and dryer (700/800 JPY) is also about three times higher than at other local ocean-view hotels (200/300 JPY). While the hotel's price is more than double that of others, the convenience and comfort aren't significantly higher (aside from newer facilities). Coupled with a mini-bar and self-service laundry that are several times more expensive, and the need to go outside to buy necessities due to the lack of an on-site convenience store, it feels like they're trying too hard to squeeze every penny. It's more suitable for a short, 'check-the-box' experience rather than a prolonged, relaxing stay. The quality of the seawater is also just average compared to hotels in Onna Village and Cape Zanpa.

This hotel is on its own island with two relatively small beaches that feel man-made, and the sand quality isn't great. Overall, the hotel seems quite new, and so are the indoor facilities. It has both indoor and outdoor pools, and the amenities are relatively comprehensive. However, I'm not sure if there was a communication issue, but I was told at the front desk that there's no kids' play area 😂. Hotel service is mainly in Japanese and English, but if you're lucky, you might encounter Chinese-speaking staff. Inside the hotel, there's a shuttle bus service directly to the airport and Naha city center (not part of the hotel's services), and it's usually on time. There's also a bus stop right outside the hotel, with apparently just one route, the 120, which generally meets transportation needs. You can't expect too much from a resort hotel, after all. It seems every room has a sea view, though perhaps with different angles and heights. Disposable amenities are also fully provided. After a two-day stay, my overall impression was good.

The hotel lobby is beautiful The room is quite big and comfortable The beach is just outside the hotel I like this resort-style hotel But the hotel time is longer Some facilities are old But I don't think it affected the accommodation experience Breakfast facing the beach and the ocean is great The sea water is clear and clean Will definitely stay again

While the location is a bit out of the way, since we had a rental car, it was convenient for traveling between the northern parts of Okinawa and American Village. The rooms were surprisingly spacious and clean for a Japanese accommodation. It's definitely a family-friendly hotel. The facilities were also very satisfying. The pool was a bit small but still enjoyable. We barely saw any Koreans; the guest demographic seemed to be mostly Japanese, followed by Chinese (or perhaps *********), Westerners, and then Koreans, in that order. Most guests were clearly families. Everything, from the value for money to the facilities, was perfect. If I had to point out a drawback, it would be the lack of things to do or see right around the hotel, haha. Only a Lawson convenience store and a couple of restaurants are within walking distance. However, we were happy because we could buy groceries at the nearby Aeon MaxValu and prepare simple meals. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Okinawa. Highly recommended!

Fantastic hotel! The room was huge and incredibly clean! All the rooms in this hotel are sea-view with very large balconies. The weather during my stay was absolutely perfect, so I spent both days and nights lounging on the sofa on the balcony, enjoying the sea breeze and the ocean view! Personally, I felt this hotel perfectly met my needs! If any of the following points are a big deal for you, then definitely consider them; otherwise, just book it without a second thought: 1. To get to the nearest beach, you have to cross a road yourself, and there are no rentable sun loungers or parasols on the beach. 2. The hotel pool water was a bit cold. 3. The breakfast can't compare to what you'd find in China, though there is one with a nice sea view.

Suitable for families and road trips, this is a convenient stopover. Easy to travel north to Churaumi Aquarium and Kouri Island, or to plan your central itinerary. Convenience stores and restaurants are within walking distance. Parking is available for those driving; quiet nights ensure a good night's sleep. Spacious rooms include a kitchen and washing machine (no dryer, so please be aware that thick winter clothes may take longer to dry). Simple breakfast options are provided, along with complimentary tea and coffee. Perfect for those who don't crave a resort-style hotel or a lavish breakfast, and value spaciousness and flexibility in their itinerary. Overall, a great stay; unanimously praised by my family! 👍

This is a traditional Japanese hotel and it's very clean overall. The large public bath is open until midnight. However, there aren't many restaurants nearby. The hotel has a small beach where many locals enjoy water activities. Overall, it's great, and I'd come back again. The price is also very reasonable, so I'm very satisfied! You can choose between a bed or a futon on tatami, but you can only pick one option, otherwise there's an extra charge. I didn't confirm the details with the hotel, but if you want to sleep on tatami, I recommend checking with the staff beforehand to see if both guests need to choose the same sleeping arrangement. The bed is also very large; two adults and one child can sleep comfortably without feeling cramped.

The hotel is great, big brands really do stand out. The breakfast was also very good. All facilities within the hotel require an additional charge, but the service was excellent. The room was quite spacious too. Overall, it was a good stay, and I'd book here again.
