A stunning villa and very hospitality host. Very clean, comfortable and beautiful, the host helped order food during the rain and was interested in how our business was after departure. Come in the morning and cooked a chic breakfast while we were sleeping. There was a feeling that we were in the Sri Lpn friends :) In the house there are all necessary, we would like to stay here for a longer time!

I cannot love this hotel more! Sweet and personal service, best demonstrating South Asian hospitality! The room was spacious, clean and well maintained! The crew was very professional and helped me with transportation and communication! They were so happy seeing me back every night, which made me feel so welcomed! The catering there is really good and I recommend the Sri Lankan breakfast - I cannot find rotti tastier than there’s! I’ve been to so many hotels, and none has offered me such good hospitality before - the professionalism + the human touch! I really love them!

Really lovely guesthouse style hotel. Exceptionally clean and nestled at the top of the hills above Kandy so is really peaceful. It’s a 20 minute tuk tuk ride up the hill from the town centre, but well worth it if you want a peaceful and calm place to stay. The owner is also very helpful.

The Good The standout feature of The Coffee Bungalow is undoubtedly its staff, particularly Adrian, who went above and beyond to ensure our stay was enjoyable. Everyone we encountered was attentive and genuinely warm, making us feel well cared for. The food was another highlight—delicious and thoughtfully prepared. A particularly nice touch was when they packed us a complimentary to-go lunch for our train journey out of Kandy, which was a pleasant and unexpected gesture. The Bad The lack of air conditioning was a notable downside, especially given Kandy’s humidity. While the property has a charming colonial feel, the absence of a solid door between the bedroom and bathroom was an odd design choice. Although the toilet and shower do have louvered doors, privacy is somewhat compromised. Another issue was the challenging entry system—we found ourselves locked out one night, which was frustrating and inconvenient. The Ugly Unfortunately, the biggest drawback was the ant problem. While some level of bugs is to be expected in a tropical setting, the sheer number of ants, particularly in the bathroom but also in the bedroom, was hard to ignore. It definitely impacted our overall comfort. Overall, The Coffee Bungalow has a lot of charm and some truly wonderful hospitality, but there are a few quirks and inconveniences that might not suit every traveler. If you’re prepared for a bit of rustic charm and can handle the lack of AC and privacy, the warm service and great food may make up for the downsides.

Would stay at this premises again. Originally told that room did not come with AC (No remote in room) or Wi Fi. The Wi Fi was clearly stated in the booking and this was later provided as well as a remote when challenged about this. Room was modern and spacious, bed was comfortable with good quality linen. No fridge or kettle in the room. Room was off a well furnished common room and could potentially be a problem if other guests stay and are a little too loud, if you are an early to bed type.

Very pretty and nice resort with mountain view. Friendly staffs and super super nice breakfast. However, it is too fat away from Kandy city center, you have to pay 1500+ rp for each ride, and most tuk tuk drivers don't prefer to go to this place. The google map shows wrong way and the team knew about this, but informed us just on the day of arrival, making this journey even harder.

The room is large and clean with the strong air con. The staff are helpful and friendly. For the location, there are many restaurant nearby and there are many options that we can choose or ordering the food through Pickme.

A Hidden Gem – Perfect Honeymoon or Quiet Getaway This place is truly a hidden gem. It was the perfect spot for a honeymoon couple or anyone looking for a peaceful, quiet getaway. Travel tip: From Colombo, you can catch a direct bus to Nuwalapitiya. We didn’t know this and went via Kandy, which made the journey longer than necessary. If we had known, we would have taken the direct bus—it’s much easier. Ps:The bus ride is phenomenal—very beautiful views along the way and very cheap. The property is located on a hill and is naturally beautiful, surrounded by trees and birds whose songs make the atmosphere even more serene. It does get a bit cold at night, but it was the perfect kind of chilly—cozy and refreshing. Our room had an amazing view, making it even more special. The stay itself was perfect for our honeymoon: very cozy, comfortable, and clean. The staff were amazing, especially one gentleman at the restaurant (I didn’t catch his name, but I want to mention him). He went above and beyond to help us and was incredibly sweet and warm-hearted—it really made our stay special. A small note: we noticed the pool looked a bit dirty, which some other reviews also mentioned. However, it was clarified in the pool area that they use natural spring water without chemicals, so this is expected and actually a great eco-friendly approach. But This hotel needs some love because this is a very nice place. Another small note: there were some insects, like cockroaches, but that’s expected when staying on a hill in the middle of nature surrounded by trees. Overall, this was a truly wonderful experience and a perfect spot to relax, unwind, and enjoy nature. Highly recommended!!

had pleasure of staying at this hotel, and I couldn't be more impressed with the level of service and hospitality we received. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable and memorable. The team was incredibly helpful in arranging transportation and suggesting places to visit. They recommended we attend the Tooth Relic Procession and suggested us to visit a waterfall, which turned out to be the most breathtaking waterfall I've ever seen. Their local knowledge truly enhanced our experience. When our cab dropped us off in the mid , the hotel staff immediately came to pick us up in tuk-tuk. The staff was consistently polite and accommodating, making us feel welcome and valued throughout our stay. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a place where the staff genuinely cares about making your stay special. Thank you for the experience!

The hotel is very new and clean, the air-conditioning is very sufficient, the hot water is also very fast, the scenery is very beautiful, and you can look at it in a daze all day. The restaurant food is good. The chicken curry is the best I have ever eaten in Sri Lanka. However, it is recommended to ask what food is provided on the day and provide meal time to prepare them. Because there are only one or two waiters, one of them is very friendly, but the English is not very good, but they are very enthusiastic to help. Another person who can help with whatspp, English is very good, can be trusted. The only thing to note is that there is no elevator, and there is no hair dryer. It is also recommended to bring your own personal items. I also tried a sudden power outage for a short time in the middle, but I will reply soon, it will not affect normal life, and the hotel door is not locked. In addition, I stayed for two nights, but the waiter did not clean up the room, and the first day I saw a large spider in the bathroom, but this is the price of living in the suburbs. If you want to see the beautiful scenery, you will have the opportunity to meet wild insects. The road from the hotel in the city center is beautiful. The hotel has a small waterfall about 15 minutes walk. It is very beautiful. If you are interested, you can ask the driver to stop and take a low photo. In addition, pay attention to the remoteness of the residence, so there will be no restaurants nearby. It is recommended to recharge in the city center before returning to the hotel. Overall it is still very recommended, but it is not so convenient to be mentally prepared, but it is worth it.
