2-Star Hotels in Yufu

It’s the third time we came to Yufuin. Previously, we stayed in onsen hotels with meals provided. This time we are staying for 2 months in Japan to experience the local life, and Yufuin was our third stop, where we stayed for 6 nights. The service is top notch. The host responded very quickly whenever I had queries, and very clear instructions for free pick-up were given days before check-in. As we stepped in the house, the air- conditioner had already been turned on there were 3 big bottles of water in the fridge which made us feel so welcome. They collected our trash every day and asked us what we needed. The guesthouse is an independent unit full of beautiful Japanese decorations. It was sparkling clean and thoughtfully furnished with everything you need. A first-aid box was provided. We were given 12 sets of clean towels and toilet amenities, including toothbrushes. We have stayed in different apartments before and have never experienced this. More importantly, the kitchen was well equipped with everything—many cutlery items of different sizes and even wine glasses. There were a hot pot and a frying pan, a toaster, rice cooker, coffee machine, and even a dishwasher. You can't imagine there is even a massage chair! The bathroom was designed like an onsen. You can simply add some onsen powder to enjoy a hot bath. You can easily access different attractions on foot. The location is about a 20-minute walk to the nearby supermarkets, 25 minutes to the main shopping streets, and 30 minutes to the JR station. If you drive, it is even easier. For us, we enjoyed walking and seeing the beautiful scenery, so it was not a problem for us even though we didn’t drive. Every day we walked to the supermarkets and bought fresh produce to cook. We had so much fun making different dishes and hot pot. When we asked for a whetstone, the host quickly gave us theirs, and the next day, they bought us a new one. They even gave us sake as a gift. On the day of check-out, the host drove us to the JR station and helped us store our luggage in the visitors’ centre. Next time when we come to Yufuin, we will definitely stay here again. It’s really great value for money.

The hostess of this B&B is a very neat and tidy lady. She even cleaned our luggage wheels for us and carried our bags upstairs, then reminded me specifically about trash sorting. I was quite diligent about sorting my trash during my two-night stay, which was fine since I'm also very particular about it. Due to the language barrier, on the first night, I went to use the private hot spring and accidentally wore my shoes inside the small cabin. I'll definitely be more careful next time! This B&B is quite clean, and I'd probably stay here again on my next visit!

I went to drop off my luggage before check-in, and they were very kind, even giving me a mini map they'd drawn themselves. It had recommendations for good restaurants and places to visit, which was incredibly thoughtful and cute. At check-in time, I was offered a welcome tea and persimmons. After waiting about 10 minutes, I checked in, and they explained everything so well, from breakfast and onsen times to the features of the building. My room was super clean and pretty, and there was even a mini-heater, making it cozy. The view outside was also beautiful. They were almost overwhelmingly friendly! I really enjoyed the private indoor and outdoor onsens. In the mornings, the onsens switch to separate male and female baths, so you can enjoy them again. I had to leave early in the morning and missed breakfast, which is a real shame. The neighborhood is quiet, the owners are all friendly, and they even have a system to send your luggage to the station beforehand, which was fantastic. If I come back, I'll definitely stay here again. I had a wonderful, relaxing stay. Thank you!

The staff members were all very friendly and welcoming. The hotel overall was very cozy, particularly the onsens. Although all the four onsens were opened for all guests at the hotel, you can use one of them as long as you want because guests are instructed to hang a sign on the onsen to show that it is currently occupied. This is a great way for the guests to enjoy privacy to themselves, although it is opened publicly. Dinner and breakfast was included in the package so we did not have to worry about finding nearby restaurants. The food was delicious here! Would definitely recommend if you enjoy traditional Japanese meals to get the full experience. We had a private barbecue for dinner, and it was truly immaculate! However, there was smoke all over the hotel lobby coming from the barbecue so it would have been better if they kept the windows opened. It was also indoors so it was slightly overwhelming with all the smoke everywhere in the restaurant. But everything else was on point and breakfast was particularly delicious. 

This was the best accommodation I've had so far in Japan. It's a great experience to live in a building that resembles a Japanese house, and there's also a private hot spring that families or couples can use together. I was very tired, but it felt like it was all gone. Be careful because the water temperature is hot. The shampoo, conditioner, and body wash provided smell so good that I'm looking into it in Korea too. Starting with the price, it was really the best accommodation.

I was travelling with my elderly mum and we were not driving. The property is like a private house, very good location along the main street. There were restaurants and onsen just beside the property. It was very well equipped with kitchenware and the bathroom got bath tub and also standing shower. Very clean and well maintained.

It was already 4:30 pm when we entered Yufuin on the first day. The owner had already turned on the air conditioner in our room and provided instructions on how to use the hot springs. He was afraid that we would not be able to visit the attractions before they closed, so he drove us to the fairytale town. Although it was closed in the end, we were familiar with the route. He also helped us check the bus schedule the next day. Thank you!

Это старый рëкан. Хозяйка этого отеля очень добрая и приветливая женщина. Было приятно у неё остановиться. Гостеприимство перечеркивает все недостатки. Онсен был хорошим, вода горячая, была также купель на открытом воздухе, что делало пребывание более интересным. Мы брали номер с завтраком и ужином, так как рëкан находился в отдалении и рядом не было кафе и магазинов. Из недостатков можно указать на то, что нам не очень понравилась здесь еда. В первый день на ужин были сукияки с очень-очень сладким соусом, это не было вкусным. Во второй день у нас был оплачена еда на троих (trip.com почему-то дал возможность забронировать только такой вариант), но нас было двое. Нам дали немного мяса и овощей, которые мы должны были сами жарить на примусе на столе. Едва было не много. Я предупредил в первый день, что моя жена не ест мясо, но его всё равно не заменили на рыбу. При этом другим гостям давали пудинги и суп, а нам не дали (видимо, на второй день это в меню не входило), что было не совсем приятным, и мы не наелись. В общем, по еде было не очень. Но впечатление в целом осталось позитивное от этого пребывания.

我們從別府乘坐36號車到由布院車站，打車到酒店1400日元，其實應該提前2個車站下車步行會比較近。酒店附近沒有便利店，所以零食汽水最好在別府買好，或者在由布院買好。店主是一位很熱情的阿姨，哪怕不會很多英語都很積極跟我們溝通，阿姨準備的食物很新鮮，很美味。因為下雪温泉眼被雪結冰了。阿姨付了我們一家人5000日元到附近的温泉浸泡。房間打開窗户可以看到山景，如果是夏天或者1月的冬天的晴天，肯定更美了。房間暖氣熱水都很足夠。酒店旁邊的停車場成為孩子玩雪的天堂，積雪雖然不多，但對於南方的孩子值了。

Yufuin Onsen Oyado Jinnouchi is within walking distance of the train station, making it easy to reach with luggage. However, check-in time is quite late at 5:00 p.m. The room is spacious but wasn't as clean as expected, and the same goes for the toilet and onsen. On a positive note, the lady at the hotel was very kind. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I’m unable to recommend this place.
