Yufuin Ryokan Hikari No Ie

It was so, so lovely 🥹🥹 The location is a bit away from the main street, so it was quiet and serene, giving off the feeling of spending summer vacation in the countryside. Most importantly, the staff were incredibly kind, and even though the room looked a bit older, it was spotless. Leaving with wonderful memories.

I went to drop off my luggage before check-in, and they were very kind, even giving me a mini map they'd drawn themselves. It had recommendations for good restaurants and places to visit, which was incredibly thoughtful and cute. At check-in time, I was offered a welcome tea and persimmons. After waiting about 10 minutes, I checked in, and they explained everything so well, from breakfast and onsen times to the features of the building. My room was super clean and pretty, and there was even a mini-heater, making it cozy. The view outside was also beautiful. They were almost overwhelmingly friendly! I really enjoyed the private indoor and outdoor onsens. In the mornings, the onsens switch to separate male and female baths, so you can enjoy them again. I had to leave early in the morning and missed breakfast, which is a real shame. The neighborhood is quiet, the owners are all friendly, and they even have a system to send your luggage to the station beforehand, which was fantastic. If I come back, I'll definitely stay here again. I had a wonderful, relaxing stay. Thank you!

Look at the view! I really regretted only staying for one night. I couldn't believe how kind the staff were. A little child came in saying "Tadaima~" (I'm here!), and because it felt like a real home, it was even more tranquil and pure healing. Also, there were lots of vintage items and clothes that I love, so it was the perfect place for me. I came in feeling a bit exhausted because the streets of Yufuin were so crowded, but thank you so, so much for welcoming me and guiding me so kindly. ♥️ I want to go again.

The cleanliness of the restaurant was so-so, and the location was out of the way. Perhaps due to its age, the facilities were outdated; there were no electrical outlets in the rooms, only by the door, which was very inconvenient. There was no television. The service was more superficial and perfunctory; even when we hadn't left the main entrance after checking out, and simply wanted to take a cup of hot tea to our car, we were immediately refused.

I stayed at Yufuin Hikari no Ie for one night! The kitchenette service was incredibly convenient, and I was even impressed that they even brought my luggage to my room before check-in! The staff were incredibly friendly and provided detailed explanations of the room and onsen. The tatami room was also very well-maintained! This is a place I'll definitely visit again!

The accommodations are beautiful and the staff are friendly. Home-cooked breakfast seems to have disappeared, but it's not available. Only porridge and drinks are available for an additional fee. The bathrooms are separated by gender and can be used by groups of 55 minutes. You can also access the outdoor baths from within the bathrooms.

Friendly and clean. I like it♡ Dinner was a bit inconvenient, but breakfast was delicious.

This guesthouse has a story to tell in every corner, retaining some of its original Japanese style. The environment is quiet and clean. The evening hot spring bath is by reservation for one hour per group, allowing couples to enjoy a private bath together. A thorough introduction is provided before check-in. The owner is friendly and beautiful 🥰. Breakfast is a traditional breakfast (the rice is superb). I highly recommend allowing time to fully experience and appreciate every detail. Although the location is a bit far from the station (a 15-minute walk), I recommend taking a taxi from the station to the guesthouse. There's a luggage delivery service to the station upon check-out, so you don't need to rush to pick it up. You can pick up your luggage when you catch the train (luggage storage costs about 600-800 yen). You can easily stroll around Yufuin, enjoying the clean air and streets. If I had to point out a downside, it would be the noticeable dampness of the tatami mats, probably because it's near a mountain and quite humid. Also, being a guesthouse, they don't offer any services after 9 PM. We arrived very late and didn't have time to buy anything before checking in. There are no convenience stores nearby, and the guesthouse doesn't have vending machines selling food. But as long as you don't arrive right on time like we did, you won't have this problem. 🙂
