A very nice stay. The host is very helpful. The room is as nice as the photo provided. Location is perfect, with the attraction entry gate a few steps away only. The view out from the window is perfect. Everything is just nice.

The owner is friendly and will come to the entrance to pick us up. The hotel location outside has a nice view during night time, The only one , our room located on the ground floor is just in the front passage walkway unexpectedly. The room looked big , and clean for us ok for the value. What you pay for what you get..

The homestay is located near Huaxiang Yuxiang, and there is a beautiful light show at night. The boss was very welcoming. Since we live in a water town, there are inevitably mosquitoes. My baby hates mosquitoes, so the boss provided an electric mosquito swatter in time and killed all the mosquitoes. Among the B&Bs in the scenic area, this one is cost-effective and suitable for a simple rest at night. I will come to Zhouzhuang again. 😀

Fengyuantang Courtyard Boutique Stay (In Zhouzhuang Ancient Town)

I chose Fengyuantang Courtyard B&B for my trip to Zhouzhuang Ancient Town, and I genuinely feel it was the right choice. Here are my honest thoughts. First, the location: the B&B is nestled in a quiet spot within the bustling ancient town, making access very convenient. It was so relaxing to stroll back to our accommodation after enjoying the night views. It's truly hassle-free. The B&B itself is the old Fengyuantang residence, a preserved Qing Dynasty building that is also a listed historic building in Kunshan. It's a typical Jiangnan ancient dwelling with black tiles, wooden windows, carved gate towers, and veranda eaves – every detail exudes the charm of old Jiangnan. Although the B&B was converted from a hundred-year-old house, the interior completely lacks the dampness and dated feel often found in old buildings. The living comfort is very high; it retains only the unique rustic tranquility of an ancient building, making for a serene and comfortable stay. The owners spent over a year meticulously renovating it. The courtyard features several beautiful miniature landscapes, from stone paths and pomegranate trees to lush greenery. There are also swings, stone tables, and benches. On rainy days, raindrops falling from the eaves, combined with the red lanterns, create a particularly atmospheric scene. Every corner is picturesque, perfect for photos, and simply sitting in the courtyard, sipping tea, and unwinding is incredibly peaceful. Both nights of my stay happened to be during the Jiangnan plum rain season, and experiencing the misty Jiangnan atmosphere within the old house was truly unique and evocative. Both the owner and his wife are incredibly warm and attentive, treating guests kindly and genuinely, without any sense of distance. Breakfast is a simple, authentic Jiangnan home-style meal: white porridge with fried dough sticks, corn, eggs, and refreshing side dishes – light and palatable, just right to fill up before exploring the ancient town. The entire B&B is immaculately clean. The ancient building has been comfortably renovated while retaining its original charm. The courtyard offers a new picturesque view at every turn, the service is thoughtful, and getting around is convenient. My stay this time was a perfect 10, and I'll definitely stay here again next time I visit Zhouzhuang. I sincerely recommend it to anyone looking for a slow and immersive stay in the ancient town!

Feeling a bit stressed lately, I decided to take a trip to Zhouzhuang. The owner was incredibly warm and welcoming. The guesthouse is conveniently located right within the scenic area and is absolutely beautiful. Sometimes, while sitting on the swing chair on the balcony, lost in thought, I even started to feel like I could retire there. The sky, free from towering skyscrapers, was absolutely breathtaking! It truly cleansed my troubled mind and washed away all my worries!

Staying in Zhouzhuang this time was incredibly comfortable, and I have to give a huge shout-out to the host! They were so warm and thoughtful, patiently explaining the Zhouzhuang tour routes both before and after check-in, and always responded quickly to any questions. The room even had tea prepared, so I could brew a cup in my free time and quietly soak in the water town ambiance – it really set the perfect mood. The place was clean and tidy, making for a super comfortable stay, and the location was convenient for getting around. I'll definitely choose this place again next time I visit Zhouzhuang, and I genuinely recommend it to anyone planning a trip to the water town!

I arrived in pouring rain. I thought I could walk to my hotel but it was impossible in the downpour. I didn’t want to bother any hotel owner.   I didn’t and still don’t  have an eSIM that can make local  call but thanks to Trip.com, there is a link that I could call the owner for free.  I didn’t advise the owners my arrival time so they were off running errands.  I called the owner to pick me up and thankfully he answered. He was busy but gracious enough to turn around and picked me up. It knew Zhouhuang requires a ticket but I didn’t know that no cars, nor motorcycles, nor bicycles are allowed. Without him I would have arrived the hotel easily.  I always like to meet the owners instead of employees . They were very helpful and answered all my questions. They are honest people who dedicate their  blood and sweat to their business. The owner even offered to walk me to the bus stop  to Suzhou which was my next destination.  This  operates two hotels with 9 in one and 6 in the other. The one that I stayed in with 9 rooms is in a  lively and busy area . Just outside the hotel is a restaurant and there are plenty of places to eat. Inside the hotel is a peaceful oasis where you won’t hear any noise. The location is the best. The other hotel is in a quieter neighborhood a few minutes away. Each of the 15 rooms has it’s own personality, is different and has its distinctive decoration. The owners said they decorated them themselves. I love the decoration and especially the lighting.  After you reserve a room, be sure to contact the owner for the exact address in case you want to arrive on your own. I think it is best to request the owner to take you there because he/she will lead you to the ticket booth to buy tickets. There are a number of bridges so heavy big luggages can be a bit of a challenge .  If you arrive after 5 pm, you can enter free of charge as no one is there to check your ticket. . But once you are inside, and if you choose to leave the area after 8 or 9 am until 5 pm, you have to pay to come back in. You can buy a one day or in my case 3 days pass.  Do check with the owner for up to date information.  The room was quite clean. There were hot water all the time. There were other guests during my stay but they were not noisy at all. I barely heard them. I slept very well during my 3 nights there.  Zhouhuang is really beautiful. There are many canals, bridges, boat rides, good food of all kinds. I had some of the best meals there. In fact , I ate in the same restaurant that serves dumpling twice. One night I had grill (BBQ) meat just outside the entrance for 4 yuans. .  There is decent size supermarket just outside the turnstile and not too far away is a much bigger supermarket. It was there where I bought half a Peking duck for only 32 yuans . The seller sliced the meat and separated the meat from  the bones. The bones he fried so it was crunchy.  It was delicious. There is a theater that offers performances. The night view is great. If you step out your room, you will be overwhelmed in a good sense by the exciting surroundings.  This hotel definitely is one of the best that I have ever stayed in. Look at the beautiful pictures and find one that you like.  I stayed only 3 nights and one of those days I went to Tongli. In my opinion, one should spend at least 2 to 3 full days in  Zhouhuang (and especially this hotel ) savor the ambience. I don’t think Tongli is worth the time because it was twice as expensive and there are not that many canals and boat rides. It is much quieter and has fewer things to see. . The worst is that the sightseeing places require you to show your ticket. After 2 places, I lost mine ticket and I  couldn’t get in the rest of the places. It is unnecessary to require proof of entrance because you can’t enter the area without a ticket.

The room at this homestay was a little dated but very nice. The view is of another building's roof. Please note that the check in location is advertised on the site but you room is actually at another location. The owner was very helpful, even carried my suitcases on the cobble streets. I was surprised as there were not many people out at night, even though the ancient town is very pretty at night. The owner recommended a restaurant but I don't recommend eating in the town as its very expensive. If you want to try the local dishes, go to Suzhou city it's a lot cheaper. I had a squirrel fish with cost over 200rmb and the same dish was only 130rmb in Suzhou.

The boss has two very cute cats. Although the room is small, it is well-equipped. The terrace on the second floor is also very comfortable. There is a lot of luggage, and the boss personally picks him up and drops him off.

The location is excellent, just next to Shen Wansan Shuiyu, very close to the entrance of the ancient town. The price is there, and the facilities, sanitation and environment need to be improved. The toilet setting of the single bathroom is not convenient, and the toilet can be sideways. The overall price is better.
