An absolute 10/10 stay in Nara City! Yamatonoyado KITAKYOBATE is a beautiful, 2-story property that is kept incredibly clean. The layout is perfect for families or groups, giving everyone plenty of room to relax. I was blown away by the number of amenities provided right in the room—they have thought of absolutely everything to make your stay comfortable. The location in kitakyobate-cho is peaceful yet convenient. Checking in was seamless, and the overall experience was flawless. Will definitely book this place again on my next trip to Japan!

If you want to experience pure Japanese living, you should pay attention to the difference Service: The service is still worthy of praise. The driver and front desk staff are very enthusiastic. They helped arrange the car to go up the mountain in the morning. It was very lucky to see 👀 deer🦌 on a rainy day Food: Most of the food arranged is made from local ingredients in Nara. The ingredients are not gorgeous, the taste is OK, and it is more down-to-earth

The hotel is conveniently located right next to JR Nara Station, making it easy to purchase all your travel tickets, including airport bus tickets. The surrounding area is very convenient, with a grocery store, a drugstore, and several nice, affordable dining options nearby. There is also a 4-hour open bar in the evening where you can try a variety of Japanese and international alcoholic beverages. The hotel also features an onsen with both indoor and outdoor areas, which was quite popular among guests.

Good ..The guide lady who helped show me the way was especially nice. She could even speak a bit of Chinese. She helped me get on the shuttle bus to the station. And the scenery around here is really amazing.

This is a retro-style hotel that suits my taste. Very Kansai. The window view is beautiful, the room is nice. You can see deer from the balcony. Behind the hotel is a green hill, very chill to take pictures. The downside is that it is quite far from the train station, far from the bus station. But the view is nice and chill. The room has no mirror so you can't put on makeup or curl your hair.

The first time I came to Japan, I wanted to experience a pure Japanese-style residence. I chose this one completely through the Trip.com review. The landlord is an aunt. You can communicate in simple English. It is very enthusiastic. I receive an order at a time. Nara is very quiet. The surrounding area is even quieter. The room is basically complete. There are bath towels, washing machines and dryers, coffee machines, kettles, toiletries are provided, and there is a family convenience store 5 minutes walk around. Breakfast can choose Japanese or Western style, I choose Japanese style, very rich, recommended to friends who want to experience the homestay, if I have the opportunity, I will stay here for two or three days.

This hotel holds the high standard of their group as usual. Firstly, I thought the service was not sincere as the front deck refused to reserve the restaurant for us (there were 2 other hotel's front desk rejected in this Dec 2025 trip too). But then they offered tremendous help when I encountered parcel problem and which is out of what they need to offer. That's really helpful. The superior twin room is good for family of 4 with children under 12 years old. We put together the beds and there were spaces for4 big luggage to pack and tidy up things. Thank you to the entire front desk for their help. The downside was the breakfast really average and I only recommend to try once if you are staying long.

I have been to Nara several times and I try a different hotel every time. Having stayed here, I think I will stay here again when I come to Nara in the future. As others said, there were deer outside the door in the morning, and the guy at the front desk spoke very good English. As for parking service, you can rent it from the grocery store opposite

Strolling through Nara's streets, one can clearly see the east-west symmetrical layout of a city meticulously modeled after Chang'an, the Tang Dynasty capital – almost like a code for time travel. The hotel is perfectly situated in the heart of this Tang-inspired ancient charm, offering both convenience for exploring and a tranquil retreat from the bustling city. The guest rooms are clean and tidy, with a minimalist yet cozy Japanese-style decor. After a tiring day, returning here to enjoy a cup of hot tea and relax on the tatami mat evokes a wonderful sense of comfort and relaxation. The hotel staff are warm and professional. They not only patiently answer questions in English but also thoughtfully provide transportation guidance between attractions. The surrounding izakayas (Japanese pubs) and convenience stores are also very convenient, making it exceptionally easy to savor Nara's famous Kakinoha-zushi (persimmon leaf sushi) or purchase souvenirs. For travelers eager to deeply experience Nara's Tang-inspired ancient charm and explore the lineage of Tang Dynasty Buddhist culture in Japan, Toyoko Inn Nara is undoubtedly an ideal choice. Here, history and modernity blend seamlessly; every outing becomes a cultural encounter, and every return offers the comfort of home.

Checking in can take a while, as the butler asks quite a few detailed questions and then gives a thorough introduction to the building and its various areas. Some staff members have good English, others not so much, which can sometimes make understanding difficult, but it doesn't significantly impact the overall experience. The breakfast is exquisite. During the tail end of the Golden Week holiday, we had to queue for a table. The Japanese grilled fish was delicious, but other dishes were just okay. The Western options were decent and quite plentiful. The room was clean and tidy, and on our last day, we even saw deer chasing and playing in the courtyard. The hotel has a distinct resort vibe, and Kengo Kuma's design features many highlights. It's a tranquil oasis in a bustling area, and the courtyard is beautifully maintained. Most guests seemed to be older, well-established families, with fewer young people. (As a 'workhorse' who needed to get some work done in the evening, I found there were no power outlets near the desk for my laptop, which really drove home the point that everyone else was truly here to relax and enjoy their vacation). Overall, I had a very pleasant and comfortable holiday. It's a beautiful hotel and definitely worth experiencing.
