DerrickcdhHotel services, staff was excellent. Location is a little out of the way, we went to the K-26 bus top at Kamikochi after a trip up and they had shuttle buses there to pick us up for a 5 minute drive up to the hotel, so the location is not exactly accessible
Greeted warmly by the staff, introduced us to the meal location and Onsen.
Room was a small, but about what was stated by their website.
Meal was pleasant as well, not everything suited my taste, but i can tell it was cooked with a lot of effort.
Onsen was of decent size, and the water was a lot better than other places i have been, i even quite like the shampoo they used.
Went down to Matsumoto on their provided shuttle service, which is an excellent service. Overall, this Ryokan is an excellent stay for families and couples, priced decently as well.

Guest UserI am a solo traveler who stayed in the room with private open bath. I enjoyed my 2 nights stay. Hotel looks tired and old but it was all good . Btw, you have to use a key to open the door not access card.
I paid for my room with breakfast and dinner. I have a private dining space in a restaurant which I like it. Skip all queue and I dine at the same place for all meals. Dinner was great. Breakfast spread was wonderful too.
I tried the one hour jap massage and it was so good.
There isn’t anyone who can really speak English. The guests are mainly locals.
There is free shuttle to check in and check out.
Overall I give 9/10!!

Fukashiso could be one of the loveliest accommodation that I have ever stayed at. The staff were very polite, attentive and extremely helpful and courteous. The place itself is so beautiful and quaint. Traditional garments are provided as an option if you want to dress up for dinner. Made for great photo ops! The Kaiseki was the most beautiful equivalent of a degustation I’ve tried, and it was served in a lovely separate intimate dining area. During dinner Nobu-San a fourth generation family member of the owners greeted us which was a lovely touch. Soba was freshly made at the accomodation. We stayed two nights and the Kaiseki menu was different each time. Breakfast was a nice assortment of Japanese and Western options and the coffee machine was actually pretty good. I enjoyed the onsens, there are two public ones that switch locations for men and women and a private one. They were well equipped and relaxing. Our room was on Level 1 with a private bathroom, seating area and little garden view. Overall this place is highly recommended. For a traditional ryokan experience, it was so nice. Even after we checked out, the receptionist gave us a little gift, and even walked us outside to where our car was parked. Such a warm and lovely place. Stay here for sure!

Anonymous UserThe location is super convenient, really close to both the train and bus stations. There's even a Daiso in the same building, though we didn't have time to check it out. The soundproofing could be a bit better; a few times we thought someone was knocking on our door, but it was probably just people walking by in the hallway.
Our stay was pretty short, so we didn't get a chance to enjoy the hotel's hot spring or read any of their manga (they had so many classics!).
The room itself was huge, definitely the biggest we stayed in on this trip to Japan. Overall, it was a comfortable stay, and having restaurants nearby for dinner was a big plus.

The location was perfect in Matsumoto, close to bus and rail stations and to lots of restaurants. The castle was 20 minutes walk. There is also a Japanese bath on the top floor which you can use if your staying at the hotel.

Anonymous UserI had the amazing opportunity to stay at a traditional Japanese ryokan, and it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with warm hospitality that made me feel right at home. The ryokan was beautifully designed with classic Japanese architecture, tatami mat flooring.
My room was serene and minimalistic, featuring a comfortable futon laid out on the tatami mats in the evening. I especially enjoyed wearing the yukata provided and walking around the ryokan feeling completely immersed in Japanese culture.
One of the highlights of my stay was the onsen (hot spring bath). Soaking in the warm water was incredibly relaxing and refreshing.
Staying at a ryokan allowed me to experience the calm, simplicity, and beauty of traditional Japanese living. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking an authentic and peaceful retreat in Japan.

Guest UserIt may be a little far away from Matsumoto Station but its definitely worth the effort! The most affordable and Japanese quality accommodation! Great Japanese breakfast and dinner, can upgrade to shinchu beef which is a MUST!! The beef just melts in the mouth. The onsen is great and clean. The single room is really big and thats the view in the 3rd photo from the room. The souvenir shop is awesome! Its sells some great product like honey which i cant find at the souvenir shop at Matsumoto station. There is a mini concert at times at the hotel which sings Japanese folk or country songs. It is a hotel that caters to mainly Japanese locals where the reception cant speak English but are super friendly and willing to communicate through translation apps. Awesome place! Definitely coming back again!

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this resort. From the moment I arrived, the staff greeted me with genuine warmth and professionalism, making me feel instantly at home. The property itself is beautifully maintained, with stunning views and thoughtful touches that create a relaxing atmosphere. Every detail—from the comfortable rooms to the delicious dining options—was carefully curated to ensure a memorable experience. I was especially impressed by how impeccably clean everything was, including the public bathrooms and hot spring area. The staff cleaned up immediately after use, which made the whole environment feel fresh and cared for. I truly appreciate the team’s dedication to hospitality and excellence, and I would highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for a perfect getaway.
We are deeply grateful for the extraordinary care shown by the hotel assistant Akemi during our stay. When we were unexpectedly stuck in the snow in a remote area, she walked alone to find us and kindly offered assistance to call for tow truck support. She then guided us safely back to the hotel, even though we had already checked out, and welcomed us with tea and biscuits to keep us warm while we waited. Her thoughtfulness and dedication went far beyond duty, and her kindness turned a stressful situation into a touching memory. Thank you sincerely for such genuine hospitality—it is something we will never forget.

Outdoor temperature was around –3°C, but the ryokan felt even colder because some sections were open to the outdoors. The walkway from the rooms to the onsen is uncovered, so there’s no way to avoid the cold. I had to wear my winter jacket just to walk to the public bath.
There is a private bath option, but the one assigned to me was far too hot — I couldn’t even step into the water.
The public bath is a very small indoor pool, probably suitable for 2–3 people at most. There is no shower in the room, so using the public bath is unavoidable.
The room itself was very cold. On top of that, I had to carry my own 25-inch luggage up three floors as there is no lift, so this place is not suitable if you can’t manage your own luggage.
Dinner was disappointing — just soba and a simple soup with pork and some vegetables and mushrooms.

Anonymous UserThe hotel located in good location, with walking distance to the city center area where you can find shops, restaurants, or even Matsumoto Castle. Parking lot provided with fees but it’s quite convenient. The most favorite from this hotel is there’re plenty of amenities – shampoo, conditioner, shower gel from a lot of brands that you can select by yourself at the lobby.
