GGuest UserThis hotel is super convenient for solo travelers, being close to both the train and bus stations. The room was incredibly clean and surprisingly spacious for a standard room in Japan – we could easily fit two large suitcases! The hotel's location is also great, close to popular attractions and restaurants.

Hhwee yin LeeA wonderful experience staying in a studio apartment with the kitchenette. You may visit the near by Boss supermarket or the other opposite supermarket to purchase hida beef and grill them in the apartment instead of eating in the grill shop. Save lots of money. So close to train station and Nohi bus terminal, less than 3 minutes walking. Easy to get around for 1 day trip like Shirakawago, Ropeway, Gero, Hirayu onsen. Staff do not speak fluent English but they do understand English. Coffee, tea are all provided in the front desk. For me, only thing that I dislike is the hard pillow. Overall excellent stay 👍.

🛍️ **Nearby Amenities:** Miyagawa Morning Market, Ajikura, and Akimaru are about a 10-minute walk away. There's also a large supermarket and a drugstore nearby.

🛌 **Twin Beds Can Be Combined:** The two twin beds in the room can be put together to create a super large bed (over 2.4 meters), perfect for families with kids – no crowding.
📦 **Spacious:** At 22 square meters, the room is significantly larger than hotels in major Japanese cities, so you can open your luggage without any hassle.
🚿 There's a bathtub in the room for a soak. However, for just showering, the public bath is highly recommended as it's more spacious, especially when showering with children.
♨️ **Public Bath:** Separate for men and women, with one pool. You can check the crowding status on the TV in your room.
🎨 **Stylish Design:** Opened in 2021, the hotel features modern and tasteful decor, with an art-filled lobby.

AAnonymous UserWe booked two rooms. The single room was a bit too small for three people, so two rooms were just right. The hotel thoughtfully arranged two adjacent rooms at the end of the hallway, which was convenient for us to visit each other. There's a bathtub, and it wasn't crowded, which was very relaxing. I wasn't really used to the breakfast; it was a Japanese-style breakfast with rice, which I found a bit unfamiliar. The location is absolutely fantastic, right between the train station and the JR station, so buying tickets and everything else was super convenient right there.

MMike IgOur stay at Ryokan Gizan was a truly memorable experience. This is a traditionally built and decorated Japanese ryokan, with tatami floors, sliding doors, and an authentic atmosphere that makes you feel fully immersed in Japanese culture. It’s definitely a “must-visit” if you’re looking to experience traditional Japanese accommodation — even a short stay of 2–3 nights is enough to make it special.
The ryokan is quite old, which actually adds to its authentic charm, though it might feel a bit less comfortable for more demanding guests. That said, it’s very well maintained and everything is clean and thoughtfully arranged.
The onsen facilities were excellent — one public bath and four private ones that you can use freely. After long days of exploring, it was a real treat.
We highly recommend booking with the traditional dinner included. The meals were a highlight: we had Yakiniku the first night and Shabu-shabu the second, both featuring fresh, generous portions of delicious food. Breakfast was a traditional Japanese set — beautifully presented and made with care, though not quite to our personal taste.
The location is stunning — surrounded by mountains, rivers, and blossoming trees. It feels peaceful and remote. Just note that amenities like ATMs or grocery stores are limited nearby. However, it’s well connected by bus (just a 3-minute walk from the ryokan), which can take you to Kamikochi or the terminals at Takayama and Hirayu Onsen. Buses run about once an hour, so it’s quite manageable.
Overall, a fantastic stay — relaxing, unique, and highly recommended for anyone looking to experience a more traditional and scenic side of Japan.

GGuest UserThe overall facilities and environment meet the standards of a well-established five-star resort hotel. It's quite large, and while it's older, it's well-maintained. The tatami flooring looks quite new, so it seems to have been renovated. I booked a one-night stay with two meals; dinner was a buffet, and overall, it offered great value for money. The hot spring facilities are also good, not crowded, and it was very relaxing to soak after returning from Shinhotaka. I'd definitely stay here again if I have the chance.

SsyamimiaziahThe room was quite small but all the amenities is good. there's onsen (which i didnt explore) but you can basically monitor everything from the tv, to check if the laundry is currently used or if the onsen is crowded. theres free drink and food upon arrival. and the front desk can speak english 😁 anddddd theres family mart in front of the hotelllllll. with parking some more and not that far from hida town.

The room was nice and spacious, allowing us to feel at home.
Not only were we taken care of by means of beautiful breakfast and dinner, but the staff were extremely helpful when we talked to them about hiking in Kamokochi.
I would highly recommend booking this place especially with a meal plan, since it was nice to have food sorted after Hiking all day.

南南方澳配速員The hotel is in an excellent location with great amenities nearby. It's just a bridge away from Miyagawa Morning Market and very close to the old town of Takayama. During my two-day stay, all the other guests I encountered were European, and I was the only Asian person in the entire backpacker room, which was a very unique experience.
