"I had a great stay at this hotel in Darwin. The property is very welcoming, and the room I stayed in was particularly large and spacious, perfect for both short and long stays. It features a small balcony, which is great for getting some fresh air and relaxing, as well as a fridge, kettle, and a practical kitchenette with cupboards, which is very handy if you want to be self-sufficient. The continental breakfast is included and offers a good variety. Plus, you can request a full English breakfast if you prefer something more substantial. Another definite plus is the staff, who were always very friendly, helpful, and attentive to guests' needs, making the stay even more enjoyable. The hotel's location is convenient: you can reach Darwin Waterfront, one of the city's most beautiful and lively areas, in about a 15-minute walk. It's perfect for a stroll, a meal, or relaxing by the sea. There's also a large supermarket nearby, which is very useful for buying groceries or other items during your stay. "Was expecting more given the price we paid, apparently already considered low season. The pool lagoon was disappointing and expected higher standards, more staff and cleanliness. Hotel restaurant food expensive unless ******** and apparently would have great discount. Room service was good and value for money. Expected small amenities like free bottled water to be more generous given the heat. Apparently just 2 bottles per check in although we stayed 2 nights . Bathroom and toiletries reasonable although bathroom door had a drum which made it inconvenient to open as door swung closed automatically .."

"Stayed for a week and had a pretty good experience! Parking at the hotel entrance was convenient and free. Right outside is a grassy park, and the harbor bay is just a short walk away. From the hotel window, you can see playground facilities, which kept the kids entertained for a while. It's also very close to the center, just a 10-minute walk to Coles supermarket and that other green-logo supermarket. The crocodile park is also within walking distance. Just be careful of the local Indigenous people there – keep your distance!"

"Overall it was a nice stay. However we had a misfortune due to hotel staff giving wrong information about public carpark. As the hotel carpark was full on the first day, we had to park on the public carpark. However the staff told us we can pay thru the machine the next day when we collect the car. Unfortunately the Australian carpark rule is that we have to pay and display the ticket the moment we parked the car hence there was a penalty payment of AUD 40."

"Good pool and spa. Excellent location. Good lobby/reception, waiting area. Phone call to inform us that our room was ready early was greatly appreciated. Generally the staff were all helpful. On the negative side the room itself - the layout is poorly designed, very angular - narrow gap between the end of the bed and the open door into the living area. The TV in the bedroom is set at a strange angle because of the room design. It didnt bother us to watch it as we didnt, but the TV extended past the wall , narrowing the walkway at the end of the bed.) Living area and kitchen were fine, good supply of tea/coffee."

"If you arrive outside the reception hours of 8 to 5 you will have to go to the H on Mitchell Street to check in. I didn’t get the text because apparently trip.com had given them some random number, definitely not mine. Other than that, it’s very noisy on a Friday night so make sure you have your earplugs, I messaged them about a couple of things (the kettle didn’t turn itself off after it boiled, there was no hot water coming out of the sink tap), bed was comfortable, location was good."

Good range of quality soaps and lotions. Staffing shortages and full house meant waiting until roughly 6pm for our room but only one hour late check out... Tiny rooms with poor outlook unless you go out to the balcony in our room. I won't return, too many better options around Darwin."

Superior location. The hotel has good facilities. In front of the gate is the river. It's safe, too. I do a lot of running in the morning. Next to it is a new shopping mall. Later, I found that there are many noodles to eat. You can also see the scenery outside. Very good.

For me, there are several factors when it comes to reviewing a hotel. In this case, the property mainly operates as a pub and restaurant, with the hotel as more of an add-on feature. Location: 5 stars, no doubt. It’s right in the CBD, making it super convenient to walk around and access nearby places. Room: Spacious, clean, well-equipped, and facing the pool—so at least there’s a nice view. However, there are a few downsides. The rooms are not soundproof at all. Since there are live performances at the open-space pub right below from about 6–10pm, expect some noise. Even after the music ends, you can still hear people chatting downstairs. And just fyi there is no toothpaste, and indoor flip flop. Wi-Fi: This was the biggest issue. Even though I stayed in the room closest to the router (as staff mentioned) and the hotel has two networks—one for pub guests and one for hotel guests—the signal basically disappeared once I stepped into my room. My phone couldn’t connect at all unless I went outside, and while my iPad could connect, the connection kept dropping every 15–20 minutes. I had to manually reconnect each time. I’m not an IT expert, but it seems like they might be using a small-scale or shared network that struggles when too many users are online. Aside from that, everything else was fine. The staff were supportive, and both check-in and check-out were smooth—especially check-out, which was quick and hassle-free.

Rooms are perfect, very spacious except shower and toilet are a bit cramped but usable. Very clean with everything you need. Staff were friendly and check-in was easy.Daily housekeeping service a plus if you need it.

The hotel was under massive renovation. Couldn't get a good Waterview room due to that. The front desk staffs are very accommodative and helpful trying to offer other rooms and options. The swimming pool is the best and we really enjoyed it especially in the hot climates.The location is at the Esplanade,directly sea facing with a nice view and big park . Highly recommend!

We checked in at Oaks Elan on 21 November 2025, the day before Cyclone Fina hit Darwin. My husband and I were impressed how the staff kept us informed of what was happening. During breakfast on 22 November, we were told by the manager that the restaurant will be closed until further notice because they have to let the staff go home to be with the family when cyclone hit. We were told to pack whatever food we want from the restaurant to last us for lunch, dinner and possibly breakfast for the next day. We were glad we didn’t go hungry when there was no where to get food when everything was closed. The manager who held the fort on the day and the next day did a very superb job! He rolled up the sleeve and did everything himself when he was obviously very short staff.

A simple well equipped room. The location was a bit of a walk from the centre, probably to long at night. The swimming pool was going green, requires chlor shoc and filtration, the TV wouldn't give me any live TV but many apps shown on screen! Very frustrating. But apart from these issues the room was ideal for our needs and the early access was excellent, thank you.

Poor communication with the shuttle service. They failed to communicate the shuttle service would be an unmarked car and did not provide the driver with my phone number. This resulted in a long wait at the airport around midnight, plus several phone calls. The room we were given had hair in the bed and stained sheets. Thankfully, we were promptly given a new room, however, the person who gave me the new room key - passed the key to me and told me the room number and went to immediately leave. I had to ask him to show me the room and help move our bags. (I was travelling with my 8 year old child and by this time it was after 1am). It was a very disappointing and frustrating experience.
