"First of all, I believe they should drop the word "Luxury" from the description; these suites are very well presented and well-appointed, and they are also well-positioned on the waterfront; however, they are not by any means Luxury Suites. In a Luxury suite, you do not have to squeeze between a glass partition and a benchtop to climb over the side of the bath to take a shower. A luxury suite would, at the very least, have a walk-in shower. Anyone with any kind of mobility issues would find this set-up very difficult; also, a mirror simply leaning up against a bedroom wall is not ideal, also we found the sheets and towels althoug clean they looked dull not white as the should be, In the kitchen, we found that the drinking glasses were mismatched and only one small coffee cup for two persons, outside on the balcony, requires a good update and cleaning. Sun lounges. Instead of the chairs & table,would be a better option, the BBQ and the balcony rail both had bird droppings on them, which is not a good look at any time."

Really surprised there hasn’t been a previous reviewer mentioning it before this one. Sections of the place are boarded up, and we were awoken to people sanding the hallway ceiling just outside our room at 8am. Extensive works to freshen up an older resort, but it would have been nice if we were told this on booking. The buffet breakfast was ok, but again overlooks the major works and noise going on in the middle of the resort."

"Well, of course, this isn't a 4-star hotel. Don't expect a good resort hotel. It's more like a 3-star resort motel. The rooms are very basic, rather old and shabby. The shared corridor balconies lack privacy. It's better to stay in buildings with a pool view, like the Gardens. It's located far from the city. We were driving, and that wasn't a big deal for us. We were choosing between the Courtyard by Marriott Darwin in the city and the Club Tropical, since they were similarly priced. We ended up staying at both. Of course, the Courtyard is much better in every way. But the Club Tropical has one undeniable advantage: its gorgeous, huge pool. It's beautiful. We stayed on a weekday and were practically alone in it. The staff is friendly. They take a $100 deposit upon check-in. They charged us cash. It's a very strange system where they ask you to pick up your key card under the doormat in front of your room. When we arrived at our assigned room with our luggage, the card was missing from the mat. We had to return to reception. The restaurant offers reasonable dinner prices. Shrimp in a creamy garlic sauce with croutons cost only $19 and were fantastic. We weren't able to try the breakfast buffet, as they don't offer it when they're not busy. A very weak continental breakfast is available for $16, or you can choose from the menu. There are also plenty of barbecue spots on site. A kilometer from the hotel is Lee Point Beach, where you can enjoy a wonderful sunset stroll and watch the sun sink into the ocean."
