The hotel itself is a historic building of character and well maintained for its age and grandeur. The room is clean with nice temperature control and the signature Westin bed and linen. Some rooms have view of the cruise ship terminal."

"Let's start with the positives: the location is downtown, making it convenient to get to the pier and the Maritime Museum. Hotel check-in is right at the bar, so if you enjoy a drink or two, this place is suitable. The negatives are quite obvious: it's all style and no substance. This hotel costs over 2,000 RMB a night, which is about 400-500 Canadian dollars. That's not cheap by any economic standard. Yet, can you believe it? "It has no windows 🪟." For a hotel of this caliber, I was given a room without a window. The side of the room facing the street was a solid wall, taking up 90% of the view. The remaining 10% was a 30cm wide floor-to-ceiling glass panel. Please note, it was floor-to-ceiling glass and could not be opened. And I must commend their choice of curtains – they used blackout fabric. When I went to pull back the curtain, I made direct eye contact with people in a car downstairs. Oh my God! So I quickly closed the curtain, but then there was absolutely no natural light. I thought to myself, why not install some blinds? Then, in this huge room, there was no wardrobe. You read that right, clothes were hung on the wall... And I stayed for two nights, with no room cleaning in between. The kitchen and bathroom trash cans had no liners. And no trash bags were provided either, so I couldn't even put one in myself. The bathroom was oddly shaped. There was only one hook for towels, and nowhere to put clothes while showering. So, I highly do not recommend it. The value for money is too low."

"This hotel is near Peggy’s cove, but I don’t recommend you stay here because it’s too expensive and there is just one restaurant and one store around this motel. You can drive to Halifax for more choices."

The Pebble Bed and Breakfast

"We had an absolutely wonderful 3 night stay at The Pebble. Elizabeth is warm, energetic, and lovely. She went out of way to make sure we had everything we needed for a 3 night stay - delicious breakfasts, recommendations for restaurants and things to see, and she has great stories! The bed and breakfast reminded me of a small European inn (Liz and David are Irish). It is spotless with fresh crisp sheets, comfortable common areas, and in a great location. I can't recommend The Pebble highly enough - we will definitely stay here when we are back in Halifax!"
