Cambridge Suites Hotel Halifax

Halifax|2.67km from Sir Sandford Fleming Park
We stayed at the Cambridge Suites July 31 to Aug 6th, 2022! We drove down from Toronto to spend our first week of vacation in Halifax at this lovely hotel. The staff were absolutely amazing and very accommodating! We had a large Dodge Ram truck which would not fit in the underground parking, I had advised them of this a month prior via email and when we arrived at the hotel they had a reserved spot out front for our vehicle. The King Suite was beautiful with a view of the harbour, private bedroom, huge bathroom and living room with desk and bar area. The breakfast buffet was very good however during our entire stay they never had any breakfast meat (bacon, ham or sausages) they only had eggs and homefries and or pancakes. BUT they had many choices of bread, muffins, fruit, yogurt.....we were never hungry! After a really long day of sightseeing we decided to eat in the restaurant in the evening and the meal was quite enjoyable! They also have a Laundry facility in the Parking Garage. It was a hot, humid week and we were heading to PEI for our second week and didn't want to travel with additional laundy so I decided to use the facilities. They will make change for you at the front desk and provided free dryer sheets and laundry pods. Again awesome service! We enjoyed this hotel so much that we are actually heading back in August 2023. We decided to just book a regular room since we were sightseeing so much we only really used it to sleep in! We just can't get enough of Halifax's charms and this hotel is the perfect home base when you visit this beautiful city!

I have to make multiple trips a year to Halifax with my youngest for hospital visits & we stay at the Chocolate Lake BW every single time as not only do they have an arcade, a pool & a gym to keep kids (& adults lol) occupied without having to go anywhere, they also have exceptionally friendly & helpful staff who are courteous & kind & always greet you with a smile, and they have THE BEST restaurant with the BEST food!! We've never left feeling hungry!!

The location is on the edge of the port, and there is a COWS ice cream shop 10 meters from the east gate. The clerk is professional. Breakfast is not included, it is a la carte system, but the price is actually acceptable between 17-24 Canadian dollars. The facilities include a swimming pool and a gym. The gym is very large. In the swimming pool, the old white man and the old lady are doing extravagant things, which is also drunk. The last hour of the swimming pool is adult only time, but there are still children in it after the time has passed. The security staff helped clean up in time. very good.

I was very satisfied with the double bed for the first time, but this time the single bed was shocked. The toilet is half as big as last time. The soundproofing is also poor, and it doesn't feel like the same hotel as before. Maybe the top floor hasn't been renovated yet. This time the room doesn't deserve 800 RMB at all

Positives: - Convenient location to the Halifax Citadel and the harbor, 2-3 blocks each way. - Good hot water - The room itself is old with limited electrical outlet, but the hotel installed extension cords and additional electrical outlet bases on the nightstand and on the desk to make charging easy and convenient. - The room was also dark due to its original design and age of the building, but the hotel brought in more lights and evenly spread-out the room to ensure no dark area/spot, which I appreciate. Negatives: - Hairs found on top of toilet and floors of the bathroom, lots of short hairs, disgusting - Watermarks on the coffee table and nightstand - Many pin holes on the walls and wall papers - When raising the dirty bathroom issues to the hotel, they sent an inexperienced person, Jared, over to help but the issues did not get resolved and made false accusations about me being rude to him when I was speaking at my normal voice and sharing cleanliness issues. - Toilet dripping all night - Booked for VIP package but did not get VIP service in both room quality and condition as well as staff attitude (particular from Jared) other than waiving the self-parking fee. - When speaking with the hotel manager about the issues after Jared's inability to solve it, the hotel manager plain outright told me over the phone that he did not care how I felt and was not willing to help solve the situation, and sided with his employee, Jared, who had negative attitude and accused me of being rude to his employees. And deflating the real issues, which is disgusting and unclean floors with many hairs. And made suggestions on using towels to ”cover up” all unclean hairs and dirty floors in the bathroom. - The hotel did not own up its own responsibility when dropping the ball on cleanliness and got defensive, worse yet, turned around falsely blaming me for being rude and treating hotel employees badly when it's them who started negative attitudes. Other: - Check in staff, Stella, was efficient but came across as impatient because she kept on cutting me off before I finished speaking. - Olga, the second check-in staff, was more cordial - There is no valet parking. The closet self-parking is across the street, no parking right underneath. In other words, if you sign up self-parking with the hotel, they will send you to a large parking garage across the street, and the hotel will provide you with an instruction slip on how to find it and find your way back to the hotel lobby. The parking garage entrance is on Albemarle St. If you follow hotel's instruction slip carefully, you should find your way back without issues. Always remember where you park. Or just ask people around. The walk from where you park to the hotel lobby is at least 10 minutes assuming you don't get lost. You would cross a big indoor food court and a walkway and escalates before getting back to the hotel lobby. The hotel shares parking structure with Hotel Halifax across the street. - No breakf

From the first moment on arriving, we were disappointed. There is space for 2 cars to park for check in in front of the hotel. Then $25 a night for parking across the street in an unsecured lot. Who pays $300 a night to drag their luggage across a street? The website clearly states a restaurant, otherwise I would never have booked here.. . it is my main criteria for booking, When I asked I was told it closed a year ago, then why is it still on the website? My irritation was ignored by the desk. The room was so cold, we cranked the heat up to 31C and the fan continued to blow cold air. When I called I was told to turn it off and they would bring up portable heaters. No, come and fix it. The technician came promptly and basically said the system was not working but he could turn off the cold air but could not fix the heat valve as ”his boss hadn't shown him how”. He would bring a portable heater. BTW I heard other guests complaining at breakfast about the cold. I would have cancelled my next night booking but that meant not having a room between noon and 4 PM, not exactly the point of staying two nights. The one, and only one, redeeming factor was the breakfast complimentary for us as gold Hilton Honors, otherwise $14 and $18. Our server was also very pleasant. Check out - the clerk was so unfriendly and dour, not even asking if we enjoyed our stay. This trip has undermined my faith in Hilton, as we have not had a good stay this year, and we have spend 10 nights in Hiltons.
