WaynerhOur stay at Banyan Tree Samui was a relaxing experience. The tranquility of the resort, together with the beautiful ocean-view pool villa, made every moment feel like a private paradise. Waking up to the stunning sea view and enjoying the serenity of our villa were undoubtedly among the highlights of our stay.
One of the most magical moments was witnessing the sunrise from our villa. The panoramic view of the sun rising over the ocean was simply breathtaking and undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and picture-perfect experiences the resort has to offer. It is a sight that we will cherish.
A special thank you to Khun Note from the Octopus Kids’ Club. Her friendliness, warmth, and easy-going personality immediately made our family feel at home. She has a wonderful way of connecting with both children and adults, and her genuine care and cheerful spirit truly warmed our hearts and made our children’s experience even more enjoyable.
We would also like to express our sincere appreciation to Khun Nook, who accompanied my wife and me on the morning resort jog and patiently taught me how to sail a boat. In addition to being an excellent instructor, he was wonderful company and a pleasure to chat with during the activities. His passion, friendliness, and positive energy added a personal touch that made our stay even more memorable.
While the staff were generally friendly and courteous, we believe there are opportunities to further elevate the guest experience, particularly in terms of attentiveness and personalization. During breakfast at The Edge and in our interactions with our assigned butler, we felt that the level of engagement and anticipation of guests’ needs could be enhanced. Given Banyan Tree’s reputation for exceptional hospitality, we had hoped for a more personalized experience that would make guests feel truly special. We share this feedback with the utmost respect and in the spirit of continuous improvement.
Overall, we left with positive memories and are grateful for the hospitality extended to us.

Tutti.ToeteeReview: A Beautiful, Design-Led Oasis in Fisherman’s Village
We recently stayed at the Hansar Samui, and it is truly a beautiful property with a thoughtful design. The location is perfect—just a short, pleasant stroll away from Fisherman’s Village, making it easy to explore the local area while still feeling like you have a quiet retreat to return to.
The Highlights
Dining Experience: The breakfast was a standout. I particularly appreciated having eggs made fresh to order; there is nothing worse than pre-cooked, rubbery eggs left under heat lamps, so this was a huge bonus for me.
The Vibe: The swimming pool is lovely, and the beach is kept very clean. The hotel maintains a relaxed atmosphere, complemented by a great selection of background music.
Service & Little Touches: The staff were incredibly welcoming and kind. I loved the ”turn-down” service around 5:00 PM, where housekeeping brought little chocolates and water—an adorable touch that made us feel looked after.
Facilities: The gym is clean and well-maintained. Crucially for those working remotely, the Wi-Fi was excellent and reliable enough for me to take Zoom meetings without any issues.
Room Design: The rooms are beautifully decorated with stunning balconies and views. The bathroom was a highlight, especially the large rainfall shower.
Room Comfort & Maintenance
We did have a significant issue with the bed. The mattresses are very soft, which didn't suit us at all as my husband has a bad back. It made sleeping quite difficult. However, the staff were wonderful and tried their best to accommodate us; they helped remove the mattress so we could sleep on the wooden base with just the mattress topper. While not ”luxury” comfort, it was much better for his back than the soft mattress.
We also had a few issues with a temperamental toilet flush, but to the hotel's credit, maintenance was very prompt in coming to fix it each time.
Dining & Logistics
We had dinner at the restaurant one evening, ordering the Massaman curry and Chicken Panang. While the food was edible, it was just ”okay”—we were perhaps expecting a bit more given how high the quality of breakfast was. That said, the view from the restaurant in the evening is spectacular, and they occasionally have lovely entertainment.
One small hiccup occurred when we booked a taxi through the hotel to take us to the pier for our trip to Koh Phangan. The driver unfortunately dropped us at the wrong port. We had to quickly catch a Grab to the correct one, but luckily we made it just in time for our ferry.
Overall
Despite a few minor glitches, this was a wonderful stay. The aesthetic of the hotel is gorgeous, and the professionalism of the staff ensures that any issues are handled quickly. I would definitely recommend Hansar for anyone looking for a stylish and relaxed stay in Samui!

Michael VasI had high expectations for this Ritz-Carlton hotel, but despite being a five-star hotel, I left feeling quite disappointed.
One of the biggest inconveniences was that you have to rely on buggies to get around the resort. Walking is technically possible, but the distances are long and the routes are dull, so you're constantly waiting for transportation.
The soundproofing in the room was surprisingly poor. I could clearly hear the guests upstairs talking, coughing, moving chairs, and walking around. This is simply unacceptable for a luxury hotel.
The breakfast was another letdown. The selection was rather limited, and the bottled juices tasted diluted rather than freshly squeezed. There were no desserts available to order from the menu—only egg dishes. Even getting a cup of coffee required waiting 10–15 minutes.
The gym was another major disappointment. For a hotel of this caliber, the fitness center is incredibly underwhelming. When I first saw it, I was genuinely shocked and frustrated. Considering how much guests pay to stay here, I expected a modern, well-equipped gym. Instead, it felt more like the fitness room of a three- or four-star hotel. This is simply unacceptable for a luxury resort and honestly quite outrageous.
The biggest disappointment, however, was the beach. It looks nice for sunbathing, but swimming is almost impossible because the seabed is covered with sharp rocks and large stones. During our stay, both my wife and another guest cut their feet.
I have a serious question for the Ritz-Carlton management: with the prices you charge your guests, can you really not invest in cleaning the beach? Bring in an excavator, remove the sharp rocks, and make the beach safe. How many more people need to get injured before something is done? You expect guests to spend money in your expensive restaurants, yet you can't provide a safe place to swim. That is simply disgraceful.
Another downside is the location. There are no shops within walking distance, so even buying basic groceries requires taking a taxi.
Overall, this stay was a major disappointment and nowhere near the standard I expect from the Ritz-Carlton brand.

Guest UserA Peaceful Haven with Truly 5-Star Service
Our stay at Garrya Tongsai Bay Samui was simply unforgettable. This hotel is a true haven of peace where everything is designed for comfort, relaxation, and well-being.
We stayed in a suite close to the sea, a charming little duplex with a beautiful terrace overlooking the ocean, and an outdoor bathtub that made every bath a memorable moment while admiring the surrounding nature.
What truly makes this place special is the kindness of the staff. It was the first time in a hotel that I arrived at breakfast and the team already knew my name! Everyone is genuinely caring, always smiling, and ready to help.
The breakfast itself is an institution. The food is incredibly fresh and of outstanding quality. My personal favorite was the fresh mango juice every morning … absolutely delicious!
To conclude: if you are visiting Ko Samui and looking for a true 5-star experience with exceptional service and attention to detail, you are more than welcome at Garrya Tongsai Bay Samui.

I spent a week at Cape Fahn, a private island resort in Thailand, and it was unforgettable. The staff was incredibly friendly, and the views were breathtaking. Dining at Long Dtai restaurant was a highlight, with exceptional Southern Thai cuisine and fresh seafood. The serene atmosphere and excellent service made my stay delightful. I can't wait to return for my next vacation.

Stephy007Another Amari disappointing stay. first was amari hua hin and 2nd is this hotel.
stayed in amari koh samui for 4nights, we just got back from koh samui a few days ago.
location wise sure cant deny that, it's by the beach front, 5 mins drive away from central koh samui mall and walking from the night life but so does other resorts around the area.
when you get to the hotel specially after paying so much per night and to be classified as a 5 star hotel, you expect a good service, a 5 star service. Specially when the first point of contact to the customer service is the front staffs, however very disappointing. Most, if not all of the staffs doesnt seem to smile at all. We arrived early so we had lunch first and sure they managed to give us earlier check in at almost 2pm, their check in is at 3pm. we let it go perhaps we were just too tired and sensitive as we just arrived in koh samui and it was humid, however, throughout our stay their customer service was absolutely lacking. VERY LACKING. specially a few staffs driving the buggy service, we even had an accident one time when we were on our way back to the room, one of the driver drove so fast, THEY ALL DRIVE REALLY FAST, and he rammed onto one of the on coming buggy, i was holding my baby so tight. luckily nothing happened to us. same buggy driver who was had a grumpy look the entire stay and we saw him throwing luggages on to the buggy instead of handling them with care. so when you are taking a buggy, tell them to drive slow.
the room, we booked a connecting room, which was a mistake. booking 2 rooms would have been cheaper but anyhow, the room was not clean at all, the bathtub was moldy the floors felt dirty and there were alot of mosquitos every single day. first day we arrived we killed 10 mosquitos in one room whats up with that.
breakfast had good selections, they have 3 pools around the resorts as it is a big resort best one is the one over looking the beach, kid friendly pool. they have kids room, not that big just a small room.. anyway overall would i come back here in Amari Koh Samui, absolutely NOT. Would i recommend amari koh samui, absolutely NOT. if you want to stay in a beach front, there are alot of beach front resorts near amari and around the area check that out..
they did something nice from my baby;s birthday, decorated the mirror and gave cake so i appreciated that.
with kids i would recommend hyatt koh samui, they are friendlier to kids and service is top notch. we moved there after amari THANK GOODNESS

Guest UserDuring the Chinese New Year, hotel prices were outrageous. I unexpectedly booked this hotel, which had very few Chinese guests, and the price was very reasonable. To my surprise, the rooms were quite good, spacious, and both rooms had small balconies. The hotel environment was also nice, with two swimming pools, one by the sea and one outside the villas. The rooms were generally clean, but the air conditioning hadn't been cleaned in a long time; you could see a layer of dust in the vents. The hotel breakfast was a bit disappointing, with not much choice or variety, and no kids' meals, which wasn't very friendly for picky eaters. The hotel is within walking distance of a local restaurant with good reviews (recommended on Xiaohongshu for beautiful sunset views). Although most staff didn't speak Chinese, they were very enthusiastic. Except for one male front desk staff member wearing glasses. When checking in, I mentioned my early flight and was advised to pre-order a breakfast box the day before. However, this staff member kept trying to get me to book a car (a private van costs 700, the hotel charges 1000). I said three times that I wanted to order breakfast, but he acted as if he didn't hear me. It wasn't until I said I wasn't booking a car and just wanted breakfast that he told me to go eat at the restaurant myself! He had a disdainful attitude throughout. I've been to so many countries and so many hotels, and this is the first time I've encountered such terrible service.

Tina GoodenoughBooked a sea view room, located on a hillside, and the views were absolutely unbeatable. The room was also spotlessly clean, and the air conditioning worked great. The breakfast buffet offered different options every day, and we also got a free hour of kayaking. The restaurant had a different themed dinner set menu every night, and the food was delicious. Very satisfied overall.

Guest UserThe staff were very pleasent and accommodating, the pools were nice and clean, unfortunately the beach in front of the hotel is terrible, there is no beach directly in front of the hotel and the rest of the bay is covered in oil and quite unkept.

Location: Perched on a steep hill, riding a scooter here requires some skill. I wouldn't recommend it if you don't have a license. There's absolutely nothing around, just a couple of **** shops across the street. The massage places along the way aren't great either; they don't even offer foot washing, unlike the more professional chain stores on the main commercial street, though prices are the same. Annoyingly, they wouldn't let us ride our own scooter into the middle of the property to get our luggage. You can call them to get a shuttle from the lobby to your room or vice versa, otherwise, it's a really long walk to the sea view rooms.
Pool: The pool is quite shallow, maybe 1.2m at its deepest, I can't quite recall. It's only good for splashing around. The sea here doesn't have big waves, so you can just float and relax.
Room: The shower seemed to be faulty, alternating between hot and cold – I nearly caught a cold. The AC, however, is incredibly powerful; great for those who get hot easily, it can get really chilly. The TV is good, with Netflix directly accessible without a subscription.
Hygiene: The breakfast wasn't clean. I got diarrhea before even finishing it. There were worms in the cucumber, several white ones. I initially thought they were plant fibers, but then they started wiggling (see P9). I immediately had to run to the toilet. My friend, who didn't eat the cucumber, also got sick, for unknown reasons. I continued to have diarrhea for a few days after returning home. It might not be related to the hotel, but this hotel was my last stop in Thailand.
Service: They offered a welcome drink, but it didn't taste good. There's a very small gym by the entrance. The staff generally had a good attitude.
Summary: It's a relatively quiet place, suitable for just relaxing. Getting to the commercial street isn't easy; it takes 20 minutes by scooter, mainly due to the very steep ups and downs. I wouldn't recommend staying here if you want to go to bars or clubs. Walking to shops is too far, and there's a constant smell of **** that made me feel nauseous.
