Great little extras like free bottled water, the staff are so friendly and helpful, the people at desk always greet you warmly on entering and are so helpful. "we have stayed here for 5 nights and the breakfast choice was as great as we have thought after reading the reviews simply because they stick to just fixed items whereas when we stayed in 5 stars hotels in asia, there's always slight difference of options daily for breakfast. the stay was ok, I would stay it feels more like a good 4 stars than a true 5 stars"

"The design and interiors are exceptionally luxurious. Drawbacks: 1. Pool is not heated in summer time 2. 5 days in the beginning of June - buffet dinner restaurant is closed. 3. All the service and cooking in restaurants is very slow. You always need to wait. Any lunch or dinner will not take you less than 1.5 hours. 4. Annoying room service. In the morning they wake you up to clean the room, then they come to bring you water, then for turndown service (just 2 sweets), then for something else. It never ends. Bring everything in 1 visit? Not possible"

"The hotel is conveniently located near the Lido area; great restaurants around the hotel and the airport bus stops right outside the hotel (return cost 8 euros)! Staff really friendly also and the team arranged a little surprise for my partner s birthday also. Nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast buffet was really good too with lots of choices. Hotel amenities were good too. All in all a great hotel. We also enjoyed the 30min walk to the old town from hotel but appreciate this may not be for everybody…though plenty taxis and the local bus route are a skip and a hop away."

"We were very comfortable at the Pestana Grand Hotel. The guests were 60+ , which did not disturb us. The food could be a little more spiced and after a week half-pension it was enough. The mattresses were very soft at first, but I did so well. The internet is very weak, but somehow everywhere on the island, not enough to work m.E.. All in all was but a super relaxing week U d in the evening there was almost always life music (for the older semester:-) )"
