"Overall, it was a good stay. The room was spacious enough, which was great for traveling with an older child, making it perfect for a family trip. The environment was lovely – the tatami mats, futons, and large floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the small river and trees created a very pleasant atmosphere. There was also a balcony, and we even received complimentary breakfast. However, there were a few downsides. The hotel felt a bit dated overall. The balcony was quite dirty (likely due to being outdoors), and the river view outside the window was also dirty (which is more of an issue with the scenic area itself). Upon arrival, we were picked up by an electric cart. When checking out, someone helped with our luggage, but there was no electric cart, so we had to walk to the entrance of the scenic area. The room didn't provide bottled drinking water; there were two bottles of spring water, but it was recommended to boil them before drinking. The tap water in the room left a floating film after being boiled. The complimentary spring water, however, had no film after boiling. In the end, I had to go out and buy bottled water myself."

"The room has nothing complain about. It was great. I would like to appreciate their extra effort.I am a foreign traveler and checking in at 11:30pm and all staffs was friendly,welcomed and openminded. Since it’s very close to Airport,their guests might be heading to Airport always, but I really appreciated their airport shuttle bus info giving me very clearly and quickly while I am checking in. Shuttle bus departs at 5am taking me airport for 15mins. They also give all 5am guests the breakfast. I was surprised their service. I would recommend to staying here for not only Chinese, but also foreigner travellers."

"The lady at the front desk was incredibly helpful; she registered my license plate over the phone before I even arrived. The room was very clean, and the view outside our window was directly of Baotu Spring's White Dragon Spring – truly like sleeping by the water's edge. It's also really close to major attractions like Quancheng Square, Furong Street, and Daming Lake. Plus, the room even had purified spring water! The Majia Spring Water Buns across from the hotel are delicious. I'll definitely choose this place again next time I visit."

"Great location and, as always, the hotel is grand. The overall service was alright, but during check-in, I kept running into other guests cutting in to ask questions, which disrupted the service a bit! It would be so simple to just have an information desk or a lobby manager where people could get their questions answered. I’ve seen similar situations in other cities, and it just cheapens the overall experience. Details like this really reflect the overall service standard. They said they upgraded my room to one with a better view, which was a slight improvement over what I originally booked, but without a direct comparison, I can't really tell the true difference. It lacks the grandiosity of other luxury hotels, and the perks are pretty stingy. It's really just a big name."

"Check-in: Evening of January 17, 2026 Actual cost: ¥203 Review: This seems to be a 4-star hotel. They gave us a free upgrade to a spacious king-size room, I believe it was 2.4 meters wide. There's a washing machine, dryer, and treadmill on the 2nd floor, so you can do your laundry and dry your clothes there. I also remember there was a heated drying rack in the room's bathroom. I think there was also a smart toilet. And there was always hot water. The unique features of this hotel, as I recall, are the lacquered fans and rubbings. That evening, I made a lacquered fan and a rubbing at the front desk and brought them home. We came directly from Mount Tai to Jinan after hiking, then took a taxi to the hotel. The hotel staff were very welcoming, all dressed in formal attire, as I remember. It seemed like a tour group arrived that day, a whole crowd of people. The hotel offers breakfast, and also complimentary lunch noodles, and late-night wontons, but we didn't take any of them. There's hot water available at the front desk for guests to drink. The staff mentioned that 'bazi rou' (braised pork) is a specialty of Shandong."

"Jinan is always our last stop to rest on our drive back to Beijing. We've stayed at the Intercontinental and Kempinski before, but this time we chose the Crowne Plaza because it's newly opened and not far from the highway. Although the surrounding area is still under development, the amenities are decent, and it's very convenient for dining, entertainment, and shopping. We took the kids to eat sour fish soup and visited the science museum (which is much better than the China Science and Technology Museum in Beijing). The hotel's hardware is also satisfactory. The only minor drawback was that the smart toilet in our suite didn't come with a remote control, and the front desk didn't respond immediately when I called. Thankfully, Front Office Manager Wang Na (Elena) proactively apologized and provided a reasonable explanation when we checked out. All in all, despite this minor flaw, the hotel offers good value for money."

However, compared to other Mercure hotels I've stayed at before, the overall quality seems to have noticeably declined, though I'm not sure why. Cleanliness: The cleanliness is quite subpar. The hotel hasn't been open for many years, yet some areas already look old and the maintenance is poor. You can wipe dust off many surfaces. The first room we checked into smelled heavily of smoke, but after contacting the front desk, they changed our room, which was much better. Environment: The hotel's location is pretty good, being close to the high-speed train station, making it convenient for late-night arrivals at Jinan West Station. Service: The service was alright; they were reasonably quick to deliver requested items. Breakfast: The breakfast quality was very average, and there weren't many options. Overall: There are many hotel choices near Jinan West Station. At this price point, the Mercure brand is quite affordable, but the cleanliness here is just so-so. I'm not sure about the other hotels in the area."
