Xi'an Airport (XIY) Guide 2026: Terminals, Transport & Facilities

If you are from Singapore and plan to visit Xi'an, you should know that Xi'an Xianyang International Airport is where you should fly into.

Xi'an Xianyang International Airport (XIY) Overview

The Xi'an Xianyang International Airport (IATA: XIY, ICAO: ZLXY) is located between Xi'an and Xianyang cities. It is approximately 40 kilometres north-west of central Xi'an. Main Chinese airlines include China Eastern Airlines, Air China, China Southern Airlines, Hainan Airlines, etc.

Xi'an Airport Terminal Layout

Xi'an Xianyang International Airport has grown quickly over the past few years. It now has four passenger terminals: T1, T2, T3 and T5.

Terminal 1 (T1)

The oldest terminal. It was recently renovated and reactivated. It primarily serves regional domestic flights and selected low-cost carrier routes.

Terminal 2 (T2)

This terminal is mid-sized. It handles some flights within China. It houses airline lounges, medical centres, luggage services and a full range of dining options.

Terminal 3 (T3)

This was previously the main terminal. It is where Air China, China Southern, Hainan Airlines and Spring Airlines operate their flights.

Terminal 5 (T5)

Terminal 5 is made to handle an additional 50 million annual passengers. Terminal 5 is the place for all international flights and China Eastern Airlines flights inside the country.

A free shuttle bus runs all day every day to take you between terminals. It leaves every 10–15 minutes from 5 am to midnight. The trip between T1 and T2 takes about 5 minutes, while connections to T3 take 8–10 minutes, and T5 connections take 15–20 minutes.

You can also use Metro Line 14 to get to the city centre from the airport. The metro station is connected to Terminal 3. There are also buses that can take you from T1, T2 and T5.

Authentic Biangbiang Noodles, Roujiamo (Chinese hamburger), Liangpi (cold skin noodles), Yangrou Paomo (lamb soup with bread) and various dumpling specialties are served at food courts in T3 and T5. Most local restaurants allow you to adjust the spiciness.

International & Quick Bites

Global chain restaurants including Starbucks (open 24 hours in T3 arrivals), KFC, McDonald's and Pacific Coffee operate across all terminals. Convenience stores such as 7-Eleven and FamilyMart are on every floor, selling packaged snacks, drinks and ready-to-eat meals for quick bites.

For travellers who want to be extra comfortable, Xi'an Airport has many lounge and rest options:

Airline Exclusive Lounges

China Eastern Airlines No. 22 Lounge (T5). It provides free snacks, drinks, Wi-Fi and workstations for business-class, first-class passengers and Priority Pass / Amex Platinum members.

China Southern Lounge (T3) and Air China Lounge (T3) also provide comfortable seating, refreshments and business facilities for their premium passengers.

Duty-Free Shops

These shops are for people who are flying out of the country. They have a lot of things like cosmetics, perfumes, alcohol, tobacco and nice things from Gucci/Burberry/Montblanc. The prices for some skincare and perfume brands at the Duty-Free Shops are pretty good compared to the stores in Singapore.

Local Souvenirs

There are shops in all the terminals that sell Local Souvenirs that're special to Xi'an. The local souvenirs shops have lots of things, like Terracotta Warrior figurines, replica bronze artifacts, Shaanxi paper-cutting art, walnuts, dried persimmons and Qin Dynasty-themed souvenirs.
