Important Tips Going Universal Studios Japan Halloween
Before you head to Universal Studios Halloween 2026, we recommend getting the following items ready in advance to make your daytime park visit and your nighttime Halloween Horror Nights experience go even more smoothly.
Japan SIM card: Get your Japan eSIM or Wi-Fi router ready in advance so you can easily use the official USJ app to check maps, ride wait times, event info, and your e-tickets.
Halloween Costumes: Get ready with simple accessories like pumpkin hats, character outfits, or Halloween hair clips—they’ll make your photos at the park’s exclusive events even more festive!
Portable charger: We recommend bringing a high-capacity portable charger, as taking photos, recording videos, and using the USJ App in the park will quickly drain your phone battery.
Comfortable shoes: USJ is huge, and during Halloween it’s easy to spend a long time in line, so we recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes.
Light jacket/windbreaker: From September to November, nights in Osaka can get chilly, so if you're attending Halloween Horror Night after 6:00 PM, it's a good idea to bring a jacket.
Water and snacks: It’s going to be busy during the event, and lines at restaurants and food stalls might be long, so it’s a good idea to pack some simple refreshments.
Tickets and Express Passes: Halloween-exclusive events are wildly popular, so we recommend buying your USJ tickets in advance; if you want to save time in line, add an Express Pass.
Cash and Credit Cards: While you can use credit cards or digital payments for some purchases in the park, it's a good idea to keep a small amount of Japanese Yen on hand just in case!
Itinerary Planning: We recommend spending your day enjoying the regular attractions and character meet-and-greets, then saving the evening for the spine-tingling thrills of Halloween Horror Nights.
Osaka Station/Umeda/Yodoyabashi/Hommachi Osaka|0.76km from downtown
When I booked, I chose this place because it looked close to the subway. However, with luggage, it's at least a good ten-minute walk, so it's not as close as I hoped. It's not too far from the main shopping areas like Namba and Shinsaibashi, but not exactly close either. The room is tiny; it's hard to open a large suitcase. The strict 3 PM check-in policy is quite inconvenient. For 1500 (yen?) for three people, including breakfast, it's an acceptable deal.
Uehommachi/Tennoji/Southern Osaka Osaka|3.56km from downtown
This is my second stay here, mainly because the location is super convenient for transportation and shopping. It's right by Kintetsu Department Store, which is downstairs, and there are all sorts of delicious food options. Getting anywhere from here is a breeze. This time, I booked a room advertised as 24 square meters, but the actual experience was quite poor. It had an outdoor balcony, but the room itself was enclosed, so the balcony basically ate into the usable space, making the room feel very cramped. Plus, it wasn't cleaned properly; there was dust on the nightstand, which is really unacceptable for a five-star hotel. After discussing it with the front desk, they upgraded me to a 31-square-meter room. Their service attitude was still good. My advice for future bookings is to pay close attention to the room type. Also, they really need to improve their housekeeping.
Shinsaibashi/Namba/Yotsubashi Osaka|3.29km from downtown
My stay at Hotel Nankai Osaka truly exceeded my expectations! 🥰 The hotel is right next to Namba Station, just a three-minute walk after exiting, which is incredibly convenient whether you're catching a train or heading to Shinsaibashi for shopping. The room was spotlessly clean, and the amenities felt high-quality. With the windows closed at night, I could barely hear any outside noise, so I slept very soundly. The breakfast offered a great variety, and the freshly made ramen and omelets were delicious. The front desk staff were very polite and helpful, always ready to answer questions, and check-in and check-out were quick and efficient. I'll definitely choose this hotel again next time I'm in Osaka.
My stay at Hotel Nikko Osaka was excellent. The hotel is directly connected to Shinsaibashi subway station via an underground passage, making transportation incredibly convenient. Shinsaibashi and Dotonbori shopping districts are just a short walk away, which made shopping and sightseeing hassle-free. The room was spotlessly clean, and the mattress was soft and comfortable, allowing me to fully relax after a day of exploring. All room amenities were complete, and the bathroom toiletries were well-stocked. The staff provided attentive and thoughtful service, and check-in was very efficient. The breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of dishes, including both Japanese and Western options, and the ingredients were fresh. The hotel's overall ambiance is elegant, and its location is superb. It's an excellent choice for both leisure travel and short business trips. I will definitely choose to stay here again on my next visit to Osaka.
Blown away by the bakery downstairs! Not only do they have freshly baked bread, but also delicious and affordable food from the hotel restaurant. I loved how plentiful the hotel shuttle bus and taxis were! 😍
On our first night, we got an upgraded room. While it was bigger, the toilet and shower were combined. Since we were traveling with an elder, I was concerned about the safety of climbing in and out of the bathtub. After speaking with the front desk, they changed us back to our original room type. The next day, the hotel staff even brought our luggage directly to the new room and helped set up the extra bed – I was so grateful! ❤️
The hotel is located in Nakanoshima, which is perfect for a city walk. I'll definitely stay here again next time!!
Osaka Station/Umeda/Yodoyabashi/Hommachi Osaka|0.57km from downtown
My favorite hotel during this trip to Japan.
The service was outstanding, and the staff were always kind, professional, and able to communicate well in English. They were incredibly helpful whenever I needed assistance.
The hotel was exceptionally clean, and I was impressed by how well the smoking area was separated from the rest of the property. There was no smoke smell at all.
A beautiful, modern hotel with a comfortable atmosphere. I would happily stay here again and highly recommend it
Shinsaibashi/Namba/Yotsubashi Osaka|2.56km from downtown
I always choose to stay at the Dormy Inn hotel chain whenever I visit Japan. This particular property, located in the busy Shinsaibashi area, feels a bit older compared to others I’ve stayed at. However, its location is very convenient—just a 5-minute walk to Namba Parks, where I can easily catch the airport limousine bus to Kansai Airport.
Osaka Station/Umeda/Yodoyabashi/Hommachi Osaka|1.78km from downtown
The Imperial Hotel Osaka boasts an excellent location near Sakuranomiya Station, offering stunning river views from its upper floors and even a glimpse of Osaka Castle in the distance. Below, the riverside greenery and small beach create a serene and lovely atmosphere.
The hotel has a vintage charm, and while some facilities show their age, it didn't detract from a comfortable stay. The mattress was just right – not too soft, not too firm – and even the single beds were spacious. Room insulation was good, and the shower had strong, hot water, which was very pleasant. However, the lighting was a bit dim, making it slightly inconvenient for getting ready.
This visit was specifically to experience the 'Miyake' (a term for the three most prestigious hotels in Japan) level of service, and indeed, this venerable hotel delivered polite and thoughtful service without feeling overbearing. For instance, when checking out, knowing we had plenty of time before our flight and planned to explore Umeda further, they proactively reminded us about their shuttle service to the airport if we were heading there directly. When we said we were going to Umeda, they even asked if we'd like to leave our luggage at the hotel. They also directly helped us with calling a taxi, specifying the destination, and handling our luggage. I truly loved their Japanese staff!
However, it seems the hotel has hired some South Asian staff for housekeeping. I noticed some dust on the glass shelf in the bathroom and on the TV cabinet. But these are minor issues, and overall, the cleaning was quite thorough.
The hotel was very clean, and the front desk staff were all incredibly nice and super patient! The location is really convenient – you just take the Karasuma Line to Shijo Station, and it's right outside exit 6. There's a Starbucks, a Torikizoku (yakitori restaurant), and a drug store right by the hotel entrance. Daimaru department store is only a few minutes' walk away, and if you keep going past Daimaru, you can reach Shinkyogoku and Takashimaya. I originally booked three nights but ended up staying a whole week! It's not noisy at night, except for the occasional motorcycle. Highly recommend! The first picture shows the hotel's location.
The room was quite spacious, and the breakfast was good too. The service was excellent, and I really loved the high ceilings in the breakfast area. The room was very quiet; I couldn't hear any noise from the hallway or the next room. Overall, it was a great stay.
Osaka Station/Umeda/Yodoyabashi/Hommachi Osaka|0.72km from downtown
My teenage boys thoroughly enjoyed the onsen, night ramen, ice cream, and massage chairs. The Dormy Inn is very conveniently located—Kitahama Station (Brown Line) is less than a 2-minute walk away, and Yodoyabashi Station is about a 7-minute walk at a normal pace. Convenience stores and restaurants are also within 1–3 minutes’ walk.
Aside from the cold winter temperatures, everything was excellent. There was no room cleaning during our 6-night stay; however, fresh towels were replenished daily. This is a quiet district, and if not for the winter chill, we would have gladly explored more of the surroundings on foot.
Good location, clean. However, the facilities are quite limited. The hotel does not provide any laundry or washing machine services. We had to bring our clothes to the nearest laundry shop, which is about 10 minutes away.
It would be helpful if the hotel could offer a laundry service, or assist guests by sending clothes to a nearby laundry with an additional charge. Otherwise, guests have to wait there for about 50 minutes just for the laundry to be ready.
Located right above Yodobashi Camera Umeda, it's easy to find once you get your bearings, and the location is fantastic for shopping. There's a queue for check-in promptly at 3 PM every afternoon. If you arrive early, you can scan a QR code to store your luggage and go out to shop or eat. The room is standard size and layout for a Japanese business hotel, and the cleanliness is fine. There's a FamilyMart and Daikoku Drugstore downstairs. Ichiran Ramen is just a short walk away. It's also very close to Hankyu Sanbangai; we didn't find it inconvenient to walk with our luggage to the station to catch a bus to Arima Onsen. Overall, it's a great place.
Shinsaibashi/Namba/Yotsubashi Osaka|3.11km from downtown
Stayed for 3 nights, booked 2 nights and decided to extend. Location was prime, no complaints, with donki, takashimaya within a stone throw. Burger kind and lawson at the exit of the building. Glico man poster at the next street. We arrived early from Nara at about 11am and had to store our luggage at the self service room. That was swift. Returned at about 2:30pm and was informed that checkin is at only 3pm and the rooms are not available. If we want an early 30min check-in, we have to join their hotel membership.
That is something that took me by surprise. 3 rooms booking but only needed 2 member signup? If the room are not avail, does signing up matter? If the rooms are available, why made us sign up?
Nevertheless, i was promised a king size bed by Juliet (from desk) but presented with Queen Bed room - which was exactly what i booked. So why mentioned king bed? Confusing again.
Shinsaibashi/Namba/Yotsubashi Osaka|3.53km from downtown
This hotel popped up as the top result when I searched for hotels in Osaka on Ctrip, and it definitely lived up to its reputation. The location is excellent – not far from the airport express line and several subway stations, plus it's within walking distance to Nihonbashi, Shinsaibashi, and Dotonbori, which is super convenient. The hotel has a good number of rooms, and what's particularly great is that there are many twin rooms with ample space. Each room comes with a microwave, a fridge, and a table. We mostly ate breakfast in our room, buying milk, salads, bread, and rice balls from the nearby 7-Eleven, which was cheap and easy. There's also plenty of space to hang clothes, and they provide a generous supply of hangers – a must-have for washing clothes daily in the summer. On the fifth floor, there's a self-service laundry room, and on the sixth floor, a shared 'kitchenette' where you can do some simple cooking and get water, which was very handy. The rooms also include disposable amenities like toothbrushes and shower caps.
Osaka Station/Umeda/Yodoyabashi/Hommachi Osaka|1.06km from downtown
An absolutely amazing stay! The room was spotlessly clean, modern, and very comfortable. All the staff members were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Excellent location and great facilities. Highly recommended!
The room itself is decent, though it might feel a bit cramped for two people. The location is quite good, right by what I'd call Osaka's 'Suzhou Creek.' There are many art museums nearby. However, if you're a woman walking alone at night, it can feel a bit deserted. If you plan on staying out late, a more central location might be better. I told the front desk I'm a light sleeper, but they still put me right across from the cleaning room, which was really annoying. I was woken up early in the morning by the noise. I've attached the shuttle schedule. I actually found it more convenient to take the bus to the art museum.
This hotel is super convenient! It's right by the subway exit. We booked a room that accommodates four people, and it was really spacious, perfect for our family of four. Eating and shopping are so easy, with Matsumoto Kiyoshi and various restaurants right downstairs. If you didn't get enough shopping done in the park, there's also a souvenir shop directly across from the hotel. Plus, from our room, we could even see the Universal Studios entrance and the queue! It was fantastic, and I'd definitely choose this place again.
Shinsaibashi/Namba/Yotsubashi Osaka|2.89km from downtown
Stayed at Onyado Nono Namba Natural Hot Spring and absolutely loved it.
The hotel was exceptionally clean throughout and every staff member we met was kind, helpful and efficient. Service felt warm without being intrusive.
I saw quite a few comments online saying the rooms are too small, but honestly I think it depends on which room type you book. We checked the room size before booking and found it very acceptable for Osaka standards — spacious enough to open luggage comfortably and move around without feeling cramped.
One of our favourite parts was all the little extras included during the stay — the free late-night noodles every evening were surprisingly good, and the onsen was such a nice way to relax after walking all day. After the bath, there was complimentary ice cream which made the experience even better.
Location is another huge plus — directly across from Dotonbori, within walking distance to Kuromon Market, and very convenient for exploring Namba and nearby areas.
The whole hotel has a calm Japanese ryokan-style atmosphere while still being modern and comfortable.
Would definitely stay again next time in Osaka ❤️
Osaka Station/Umeda/Yodoyabashi/Hommachi Osaka|1.31km from downtown
Convenient walking distance to and from the Sakaisuji-Honmachi Station serving the Chuo Line [C] and Sakaisuji Line [K], makes for an easy thoroughfare to all parts of the city, Umeda, and Universal Studios, too. Great amenities are its upper floor Onsen on the 14th floor, along with the swimming pool and gym facilities for an additional (2 700¥) per visit. Room size is fairly spacious for solo travelers, but opt for beds for two persons or couples. The hotel does not have laundry facilities though the nearest laundromat is about 6-blocks away. Very clean and open 24/24.
This hotel has a chapel inside on the second floor for those who are observant travelers (for Christian devotees). There are several other temples and shrines all within distance from the hotel itself. Accommodations are very good from a short stay to a business traveler’s perspective or personal experience within this part of Osaka’s financial districts. Very lovely places for returning visitors.
The environment is excellent, and I had a very comfortable stay. The window offers a great view, the room is spacious, and the ceiling height is good. I looked forward to coming back to the hotel every day. I visited Universal Studios for two consecutive days. The hotel is right by the JR station, offering a quiet escape despite being in a bustling area.
Osaka Station/Umeda/Yodoyabashi/Hommachi Osaka|1.38km from downtown
I recently stayed at Hotel Hanshin Osaka during my trip to Osaka, and overall it was a very satisfying experience, especially for a first-time solo traveler visiting the city.
One of the biggest advantages of this hotel is definitely its excellent location. The hotel is conveniently connected to transportation, making it extremely easy to travel to many of Osaka’s famous attractions and shopping areas. Whether I wanted to visit Dotonbori, Umeda, Osaka Castle, or even take day trips to nearby cities, getting around was smooth and stress-free. For someone traveling alone and unfamiliar with Osaka, staying here made the entire trip feel much more comfortable and convenient.
Another thing that impressed me was the service provided by the hotel staff. The front desk employees were always polite, professional, and welcoming. They greeted guests with genuine smiles and were very helpful whenever I had questions. Even though there was sometimes a language barrier, they still tried their best to assist me, which made me feel appreciated as a guest. Good hospitality can really affect the overall travel experience, and this hotel certainly delivered in that aspect.
The room itself was clean and well-maintained. Although the room size was slightly small, which is quite common in Japan, the facilities inside were surprisingly complete and thoughtfully arranged. Everything I needed was provided, and the layout was efficient enough that I still felt comfortable during my stay. The in-room hot spring bath was also a very enjoyable feature. After spending long hours walking around Osaka every day, being able to relax in the warm bath at night was incredibly refreshing and helped me recover from fatigue.
If I had to mention one downside, it would only be the limited room space. However, considering the location, service quality, cleanliness, and facilities, I still think this hotel offers great value overall.
I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Osaka for the first time, especially solo travelers who want a convenient, comfortable, and reliable place to stay.
Facilities: Overall very good. Breakfast was just okay, but there's a convenience store and bakery downstairs, so you can easily book without breakfast and not worry about waking up early.
Hygiene: Very clean. Comes with a full set of Refa hairdryer, curling iron, and straightener.
Environment: The environment is great. There are large supermarkets and convenience stores downstairs, plenty of restaurants, and easy access to the subway.
Service: Couldn't check in early. I recommend communicating with the hotel in advance if you want an early check-in, otherwise, they won't let you check in early at all.
We stayed on the 50th floor in a triple room with single beds. The view was amazing, you could see USJ. It's also very close by subway or Uber.
Osaka Castle/Kyobashi/Eastern Osaka Osaka|2.78km from downtown
The breakfast exceeded my expectations; they had my favorite wagyu beef, ice cream, a variety of drinks, fruits, and even snacks that could double as souvenirs. However, the room felt a bit cramped and dated. For instance, there was only one chair and a small table, making it difficult to eat takeout. The TV wasn't mounted on the wall, which made the space feel even narrower. If there was a long sofa by the window, it would prevent guests from having to sit on the bed immediately upon entering the room.
During checkout, I realized I had been misled by the hotel package. I thought I needed to purchase a specific bathing package for the hot springs, and that this package didn't include breakfast, requiring me to pay extra for it. In reality, all guests could use the hot springs for free. It took about 2.5 hours on the day of checkout to sort things out with the platform and get a refund for the overpayment.
