Very Good
SSeng TatThe hotel is quite clean and nice.
I booked for a night king bed room. The room is spacious and clean, quite nice.
However, there is no plug point besides the bed, only have usb port where not all electrical charger is fit and cannot be used.
For the toilet, the water draining system is bad, cannot drain water at all during showering.
For the access card given, one cannot open the door. I went to reception and inform the issue, the receptionist checked and asked another staff to assist me to my room and help me open. We walked till my room and the card cannot open as well. The staff then told me is because of the lock has running out of battery, need another 10 minutes to go down and get physical key to open the door. He then brought the manager comes and she could open the door with her card. So eventually is the second access card problem. I not sure the problem is with the receptionist or the lock got problem. Not a pleasant experience to kee me waiting standing outside my room for them to sort the issue
SSoon KYOverall, the stay was good. The hotel has a great location and the rooms are spacious. The room decor is a bit dated, but the Wi-Fi was excellent.
The hotel has an ice rink, which is a good option if you want to learn to ice skate.
The breakfast was ordinary and nothing special.
GGuest UserOn the day I checked in, I came back at night to find my room had been cleaned and all my belongings were gone. When I asked at the front desk, they said it might have been a system error and they thought the previous guest had checked out, so they sent someone to clean it.
1. A five-star hotel claims they have a system issue.
2. The cleaning staff clearly saw it was an occupied room, yet they directly took our things without even asking.
3. They just left our belongings in the concierge public area downstairs, claiming there's CCTV so nothing would go missing.
4. They said it was all sorted, but when I got back to the room, my key card wouldn't work. I had to go back down again. It was already midnight, and I was dragging my luggage up and down.
5. During checkout, they tried to charge a foreign fee, but I'm Malaysian. I really don't understand how their system records things.
I was looking forward to a pleasant stay at a five-star hotel, but this happened on the very first night. The management and front desk really need to improve. Although I did get a free breakfast in the end, I've stayed in at least 20-30 hotels, and this is the first time I've encountered something like this. Even 3 or 4-star hotels are better.
Really a very bad experience here.
HHany YnsSunway Resort is an excellent choice for families with young children. Having the resort, attractions, and mall all under one roof makes it incredibly convenient. Sunway Pyramid also offers a great mix of both international and local brands, which sets it apart from many other malls.
The staff were consistently warm and helpful, from the front desk to housekeeping, and their service was excellent throughout our stay.
However, crowd management during the public holiday period was lacking. There were long queues for the lifts after check-in, and we were initially told no baby crib was available, only for one to be delivered later that night after a follow-up call. The breakfast queue at Sunset Terrace was also extremely long, so we ended up skipping it.
Overall, a great family-friendly resort with excellent service, though the experience could be improved with better crowd management during peak period
MMarsDewThe room is a bit dusty. There is a sofa bed in the room but it is not set up by default. If you need an extra bed, there is an additional charge of RM98. The hotel will then prepare the sofa bed and provide extra bed sheets, pillows, blanket, towels and toothbrush. The RM98 charge also includes breakfast for one person
KKL_TanClean and new facilities with good service and helpful staff. Enjoyed my stay and would return to this hotel again if in this Shah Alam area.
There is a big mall next to the hotel and a recreational park with water slides and go kart across the hotel
Good for family with kids and teens too
AAnonymous UserThe room feels quite dated, with a noticeable musty smell upon entering. While overall cleanliness is acceptable, the carpet does not feel particularly fresh and could benefit from deeper cleaning or refurbishment.
I booked the same room category as a friend, but they were upgraded to The Club while I was not, which felt a little inconsistent in terms of guest experience.
Breakfast was very crowded. Arriving around 9:00 AM, most of the food trays were already close to empty. The restaurant staff were proactive in clearing plates, but at times it felt a bit rushed—they repeatedly asked to clear dishes even while we were still eating.
AAnonymous UserThe pool was definitely the highlight of the trip for my toddler. We really enjoyed our stay and it’s just a stone throw away to IOI mall! Definitely recommended for families.
MMd AshariWe’ve stayed here few times and every time it’s not a disappointment. Love the hotel rooms, breakfast spread the amenities, shopping and the convenience of having everything under one roof. The journey from airport to hotel and vise verse wasn’t that long. Took about ~40mins with good traffic. The grab price still manageable. The breakfast was immaculate. The rooms is spacious and the stuffs are helpfull. All in all LOVING IT.
GGuest UserPros:
The room comes with a balcony, great for enjoying the views and taking sunset photos.
There's a garden downstairs for walks, and the air is very fresh.
Toothbrushes, toothpaste, and bottled water are provided, and the cleaning staff are very efficient.
The hallway is relatively quiet, and the service is excellent.
There's a golf course, perfect for those who enjoy playing to pass the time.
Cons:
The overall room decor is a bit dated.
There's no overhead light; lighting relies solely on floor lamps and bedside lamps.
It feels a bit like an older 4-5 star hotel in China.
The shower is in a bathtub, which can be slippery.
Upon check-in, they requested a 250 MYR deposit plus a 'tourism tax' of 7 MYR per night.
I've stayed in many hotels in Malaysia, and this is the first time I've been asked for a deposit and this particular tax.
Tips:
Bring your own slippers.
The central air conditioning is very strong, so you might want to bring a long-sleeved pajama top.
The front desk informed me that check-out takes 15 minutes (first time I've encountered such a long wait; I was a bit emotional during the interaction, but it ended up being processed in less than 5 minutes. Still, I recommend allocating sufficient time).
I wouldn't specifically book this hotel again unless it was for convenience to UKM.
