"Guys, seriously, this hotel is the best deal ever! My stay at Yellow Star Ambarukmo was absolutely flawless.
The room: Super clean and incredibly comfortable. The bed was soft, the AC was ice cold, ensuring maximum sound sleep. Cleanliness 10/10!
Facilities: I got a welcome drink and, most importantly, a free breakfast that was pretty good and filling! Totally worth it for budget travelers.
Location: Super strategic! It's close to Amplaz (Ambarrukmo Plaza), so if you want to find food or go shopping, it's just a short walk away.
Conclusion: If you're going to Jogja and want something affordable but not cheap, you must stay here! It's absolutely amazing! ✅"

MMia TedjoIt was a pleasant experience for four of us in two different types of room (which were also very considerate that we stayed next to each other without additional requests). The private pools were the highlight of our stay, not to mention that there is a main pool as well. Staff are very helpful and we managed to borrow three bikes (included in the room rate). Other activities were also provided with advance booking, however not all were available and there was a minimum number of person to be able to run activities. Generally a great stay.

My family & I usually stay in T*ntr*m (been our no 1. option in Semarang, Yogyakarta, and Tangerang for a while), but considering NY traffic, decided hotel next to mall as safer option, and I think Marriott Yogya will be our no 1. option in Yogyakarta now.
PRE-STAY
Staying experience actually starts the second we finished the hotel reservation, maybe its long before we even arrive at the hotel. Most dont really optimize this.
What I will highlight is Marriott really put my requests (birthday decor in specific room, connecting rooms) into the system, where everyone can check. From the one handling the WhatsApp to the receptionist the day we arrive, Ilham. And they execute my request really well.
I've experienced some that forget my request and ended up decorating the wrong room, or not facilitating the request, even though they said they will facilitate.
*see pic 8 - 11. It doesnt have to be expensive, businesses have to calculate the cost and margin. Whats important, for me, is put some effort into it. Its part of making the stay memorable.
STAY
I love it when :
- the moment we arrive, the staff helps us by opening the car door, w/ the smile and greeting. Not from just one person, but every staff did the smile and greeting.
- Ilham texted that the other room is ready. Most just rely on guest will be the one to follow up, but not Marriott.
- we asked the way to mall entrance, the staff took us to the entrance, not just directing w/ hands.
- they put anti-slip mat in shower area (pic 6), such a functional addition for safety. Because aesthetic needs to meet w/ function.
- we went out at 8.30 in the morning for culinary & coffee around Yogyakarta and put the cleaning sign on, but forget to call, just to communicate that we want the room cleaned while we're out. 2,5 hours later when we're back, those 2 rooms are neat & tidy.
Some hotels dont notice the difference those make for guest(s).
These, for me, really help building the memorable staying exp.

Jjoanlee16The outdoor facilities are fantastic! The pool has slides and a rope swing, plus there's a dedicated fish pond for fishing (you can easily catch 5 fish in a minute). They offer free bikes for adults, kids, and even bikes with child seats. There are also some small outdoor play structures and a few games. From the lobby, you get a great view of Mount Merapi – perfect for adults to enjoy while kids can feed the fish. As for the indoor environment, the room type I originally booked was indeed much cheaper, but it felt like a guesthouse from 20 years ago. After staying for three nights, I upgraded on the spot the morning of the second day. The upgrade cost an additional 800,000 Indonesian Rupiah (around 300+ RMB) for two days. The upgraded room was very new.

JJasifireI booked 11 rooms for my team of 20 pax and have requested for non-smoking rooms but, about half reeked of smoke. Single rooms booked were also unavailable though it was booked early. Instead we were given rooms with twin beds joined together even though my team members paid premium. There were also cockroaches in a few of the rooms. We were not compensated except for four cakes sent to our rooms, 1 of which was left outside the room door.

The rest are not up to expectations.
1. Location is far from town and airport.
2. Amenities are very old. A lot of things are spoiled and yet not replaced or repaired.
3. Because everything is old and dated, they look dirty too. Bedsheets are full of stains!
4. Water pressure of shower is very low. Take a long time to bathe.
I booked here just because the event I was going to was hosted in this hotel. Glad that I didn’t extend my stay after the event. I am sorry but I won’t recommend this hotel.

The rooms are clean and spacious although there needs to be an improvement in the quality of some items in the bathroom.
Overall this is a very good hotel for its price range.
