Guest UserI wondered if I had entered a place where a sweaty, unwashed middle-aged man had been living for a long time.
Did I just have bad luck with the lottery?
There was an unidentifiable urine smell in the room, food scraps in the sink, and the hot water would run out just as I washed my hair—it was so frustrating. Used towels were hanging up, so I asked about them and got new ones from the storage room, but they still smelled like those years-old workout clothes that don't go away even after washing them.
I wonder if the bedding was a set with those towels, because the sour smell was so strong that I removed all the pillows and lay down, but that sour smell permeated my body and hair.
My boyfriend, who is sensitive to smells, even said he had a headache, so we went out for a walk in the early morning.
When I used the same accommodation through a different site, it wasn't like this—perhaps because the management company was different.
It's good value for money and in a good location, so it's really a shame.

Guest UserThis is by far the best hotel in Gangwon-do if you want to be right by the ocean, with all rooms offering ocean views! And the sunrise over the East Sea? Absolutely breathtaking!
It's a place where you hear nothing but the sound of the waves, without any traffic noise. Even with the windows closed, the sound of the waves is still prominent – some might not like it, but for me, it was perfect. It's like having constant ASMR. The absence of a TV really helped me focus on the sea. I lost track of time watching the surfers ride the waves!
This is what true 'sea-gazing' (바다멍) must feel like. Another great advantage of this hotel is the communal kitchen on the first floor. It's wonderful to have a space where you can cook your own meals or enjoy takeout! I'll definitely visit again!

Guest UserContactless check-in is unfamiliar, but it has its pros and cons. The feeling of a well-managed property has been reduced by 50%.
Perhaps it was summer vacation season, but the parking lot, which stretches all the way down to the third basement level, was completely full. The parking lot itself was small and cramped. Even when it was full, cars kept coming in, causing a lot of congestion.
The room had a small kitchen, a bed, and a bathroom with a shower. We booked a triple room for a family of three, but it was so cramped that we were immediately taken aback. We booked a second room and split the space.
The accommodations seemed to be individually divided and rented, but honestly, there were more inconveniences. The interior was decorated with adorable dolls, which I appreciated.

A very cosy room for 2 persons. Conplete with cooking stove, big fridge, microwave oven, washing machine, laundry rack and a small dining table for 2. The wardrobe is spacious . Personal amenities can be purchased at the vending machine at the ground floor.
There is a 24-hour GS25 convenient store at the ground level. There is a modern cafe at the ground level.
The most accessible mode of transport is taxi.
Nearest attraction is the Yangyang Traditional Market. There are several quaint cafes, bakeries and a Daiso in the vicinity.

ChamandarHotel is self check-in (no staff onsite), you’ll receive a message from the hotel on the luggage storage password (24 hrs access - no assigned locker, just a room), and your room number and password. Ignore the self checkin kiosk at the lift lobby, you can go straight to your room with the password (but early checkin results in extra $). There is a wonderful sea view cafe called Hajodae Coffee, right at the next building. The Naksansa temple is also within walking distance (dont follow Naver Map, just walk towards Naksan Beach Hotel - you can see a lot of people walking up the steep road up the hotel). Food was unfortunately meant for groups, so solo travellers might need to make do with whatever you can find (convenience stores were available everywhere). There is a coin karaoke at Level 2 of the hotel building, have fun. Just felt a bit cheated when the bed actually back faces the sea, you cant see anything from the bed 😂. On the side, the tiles in the balcony seemed really dangerous, like they were going to explode. Loved that you can take the bus 9-1 from Yangyang Passenger Terminal (if you come from Gangneung Intercity Bus Terminal). It runs surprisingly quite frequent, about 10mins.

Guest UserI visited twice because it was close to my business trip destination and parking was convenient. It features contactless check-in and an ID scanning system, so please make sure to bring at least one ID.
The room had an ocean view, which was naturally very relaxing. In particular, having brewed coffee and tea available made it wonderful to enjoy the view of the sea while drinking coffee in the morning. I would have enjoyed the romance even more if it had been a vacation instead of a business trip, but I had to leave early, so it was a shame.

The hotel has a great location right in front of Naksan Beach (a great beach - lots of white sand). There are restaurants and supermarkets close by and it is a quick taxi ride to the Yangyang airport and Yangyang bus depot.
Staff are efficient and helpful without being intrusive. The hotel seems to have been newly renovated and the rooms, passages and common areas are newly carpeted and newly painted. There is a small gym and laundry room available for use.
Most guests seemed to stay only one night which seemed strange, given the great location. The only thing that could be improved upon is some basic facilities in the room. There is no cupboard (although there is enough space for one), only one chair (and its fairly uncomfortable at that) and no furniture on the balcony - we really wanted to sit on the balcony and look at the sea in the evenings, but there is nothing to sit on.
At the time that we stayed there (October 2024) there was quite a bit of construction noise as there are hotels being built on either side of the Naksan (although this is not the fault of the hotel itself).

맥키어넌Nice clean hotel across from a nice beach for surfing. I was initially disappointed to find the hotel was across a very busy road from the beach, but the hotel itself is quiet and the rooftop in the morning was a great way to take in the sunset. I might not book here again because of the busy road but the hotel is nice.
