We thought staying at Sen Retreat Takijiri was very good to start our Kumano Kodo journey. The Sen Retreat Chikatsuyu was even more impressive! The size of lodging with living room, the in unit washer and dryer, and prepared food and drink were superb! Especially, after a long journey in the mountain, the hot pot and cold beer were so comforting! We can see everything details has been taken care of. Kawayu Onsen Fujiya boasts an excellent location, right next to a bus stop, making it convenient to get around. Its biggest highlight is the open-air mixed-gender bath overlooking Mount Iwo Jima, offering a rugged and unique view. The cuisine focuses on local specialties, but opinions on the taste are rather polarized. The downsides are that the facilities are generally old and have a vintage feel, and the cleanliness of some rooms is only average. It's suitable for onsen enthusiasts who appreciate a traditional atmosphere and convenient transportation.

Amazing service from the moment we arrived to the date of our departure. Staff is very attentive. Food is amazing and presented well. Location is serene and a great change from the big cities. Rooms are perfect and just the type of Japanese village rooms and decor we were hoping for.

Stayed for two consecutive days. The hotel staff was very friendly and could communicate in English. No matter what the problem was, they were very enthusiastic and tried their best to help you solve it. 1. There is a free shuttle bus to Hoshinmon Prince Shrine and Hongu Taisha Shrine every day. In addition, the front desk can arrange a free shuttle bus from the hotel to the bus station. 2. You can ask the front desk to arrange for your large luggage to be sent to the next hotel (hotels that are too far away may need to pay a small fee, but hotels that are very close are free) 3. You can ask the front desk to prepare a lunch box 4. The family's private bath is very clean and comfortable. When no one is around, you can request a private bath. The dinner food was delicious! A highly recommended hotel!

There are fewer restaurants near the hotel. You can go to the hot springs when you stay in the hotel. Although the facilities are very old, it is really comfortable to soak in the soup after hiking! ! The front desk does not speak English but the service attitude is very good, it is still very recommended

The room was very clean. The landlady was kind and could communicate in Chinese using a translation software. I ordered her breakfast for 800 yen and it was very comfortable. I didn’t know what to choose from the meal. I just ate what she made and I was very satisfied. This B&B can pick you up from the station. I don’t speak Japanese, so I can only walk there. When I left, she drove me to the station. I liked it very much! The bus runs twice a day, and it’s difficult to take a taxi. The pick-up and drop-off is very pleasant.
